I guess we have the old X-men style scenario where the badguy is just as ostracized by society as the good guys are.
Compared to the near slice of life + drama of the first two, I thought the more action oriented third episode was a bit weird too. Yeah, Midori changed her emotions rather quickly. From a near total villain to possibly becoming Ran's best friend (duh, that's obvious).
