Batshit crazy is about right. Someone mentioned FLCL earlier and of course, all kinds of shows want to be OOC and batshit like FLCL. But the thing is, there's only one FLCL. Not only was it able to be OOC and batshit better than any other series, but there was a point to all of it - all of that insanity drove the show somewhere with the characters and plot and having the coolest soundtrack ever didn't hurt either. FLCL was lightning in a bottle, alchemy, a one in a billion shot - we'll not see its like again.
So - it's not doing this show (or any show) a favor to make the comparison. On it's own merits, it does a pretty damn fine job of being insane and exhausting, so points for that. The premise is amusing in an utterly preposterous way. Now we'll have to see if any of the supporting characters or the writing have legs.
