yes, it was limited to orochimaru's knowledge of what the ET zombies could do since he killed their personalities and took direct control of them. so hashirama and tobirama didnt fight at full strength since orochimaru didn't know all their secret techniques.
kabuto's ET perfected that flaw by having the zombies keep their personalities and act on their own with kabuto just giving them goals and direction so these zombies can use all their hidden techniques to destroy whoever kabuto pits them against.
the flaw in kabuto's ET is that since the zombies do have their emotion in tact, they are prone to emotional influence from their opponents and once at peace with whatever inner demon they had in life, they disintegrate entirely
