Thought I'd post this here to ask for help on what this could mean, since it's really confusing. I'm not sure if this is a translation error or not, so.
Spoiler for Umineko EP2:
Anyway, in EP2, there's a point where Beatrice is in the VIP room in the mansion and Shannon brings her food. They proceed to have a discussion about various things, and Shannon asks Beatrice why she had to appear before them. She says that, if Beatrice hadn't done that, they could have lived life to the fullest until the last moment. This is Beatrice's response:
"That's what witches do. I live off your fates, reigning as a high-order being does over low-order beings. After all, for all of you, fate is just a Fragment. If you make soup with both hands, you can scoop out as much as you want. ...Just like how no matter what the beef cows I raise babble, it won't change whether I invite them to my dinner table. *cackle*cackle*...!"
...How is fate a Fragment for them? What does the part about soup even mean? I know that Beatrice refers to her power as soup or a western dish in metaphors previously, but even taking that into account, this makes no sense. And then she goes off on a completely unrelated note with a metaphor on cows. Can anyone help? This is the most confusing thing I've seen since I started reading the novels.
Also note that, while I did watch the anime before reading the novels (and thus I have a fair amount of knowledge regarding the rest of EP1-4), I have no knowledge of Chiru. If the answer to my question is a significant spoiler from Chiru, please don't post it... Thanks!
[EDIT: I thought this post belonged in this thread because it's regarding translated text from the Sound Novel. Sorry if that was a mistake.]
