I'm not going to go in-depth because I'm still reading (and still being overwhelmed by what I am reading), but suffice to say that:
Spoiler:
Tigre and Lyudmila's forces are about to be overrun (causes being sheer exhaustion, battle fatigue, and completely overwhelming enemy numbers) from the sides by Balbarossa (Red Beard)'s forces, when suddenly Knights flying the flag of Brune come charging in and offering their aid to Tigre, putting their men under his leadership.
Roland and Olivier apparently wrote a letter to Tigre's friend Augusto (who used to serve Tigre's father, Uruz, and left to become a Knight of Brune; was briefly mentioned in Volume 2) just before Roland went to the castle and met his untimely death, with an account of Tigre's fight in order to protect the people. Augusto takes 2000 men with him, and two other leaders from the other Knighthoods take 1500 of their men respectively and march on to join Tigre's troops after hearing from Matthuss and Ojie about the situation.
It might not sound like much, but Knights are bound by their oath to their king and country and cannot take action unless ordered to by the King. That's right - the Knight of Knights Roland spoke so highly of Tigre that these men chose to cast their die in with him and fight by his side.
And while, again, that doesn't sound like much, remember that Tigre is branded a rebel, is very much looked down upon by everyone in Brune because of his lowly nobility and his fortitude with the bow, and because of his alliance with Zhcted Vanadis Elenore. Furthermore, he is the only one who chose to fight the invading Muozinel forces.
