Personally I played my ELC AMX as a 'guerilla' tank or Arty killer depending on the situation. Basically getting up close, shoot and run away or waiting two minutes and than rush to their base to kill some arties.
The only tanks I don't use hit and run against are Russian and German high tier non-TD tanks with no support those I'll just hug and laugh at their pitiful gun depression.
