although there is some sort of temptation for sasuke to want to fight naruto, the current fight with naruto is just a way for him to test and reassure himself that he's still progressing. i don't know how you came to the conclusion that he's side tracked too easily, but ok. there's a shitload more i could say, but i'd hate to spoil it for you.
