Ichika is beaten to the ground as usual and Tatenashi helps him up from his place on the floor. Ichika says that Tatenashi is as strong as always and it looks like nobody will ever be able to take the position of being at the top from her. Tatenashi says thanks at the compliment and tells Ichika to go on. It's not a normal thing but there are times that even Tatenashi practices meditation, this is being one of those times.
She remembers Ichika's words that she'll probably stay on top without anybody ever reaching her level. For some reason, such words hurt. She didn't show it but she disliked being the best so much. There were perks, people near worshipped her, loved her and everyday was never dull as people challenged her over and over. But being at the top had responsibilities. She had to be strong, stronger than anybody. She had to be infallible, responsible and fulfill everyone's expectations. It was a difficult way of life, one she didn't wish on her younger sister, that's why Tatenashi forced herself to become so perfect. But assuming her sister would be happier without such a life made a great chasm in their relationship. Tatenashi hated her perfection. Those little things she did, teasing, abusing her privileges every now and then, those were moments she cherished because they were her little imperfections, her personal rebellion against the image set-up for her. Being at the top meant being untouchable, even to your closest friends, you would never see eye to eye. They would have to look up to you as someone for guidance even if you didn't have all the answers. She really hated her position.
A warm hand lands on Tatenashi's shoulder, she opens her eyes and looks into the eyes of Ichika who's kneeling right in front of her. He tells her that he understands. Tatenashi is lonely and wants to be treated like everybody else, but being someone of such an important position, she can't be anything else. Tatenashi breaks down(tearlessly) and admits that she wishes someone will take her place, that maybe wanting Kanzashi to be the heir is just a way to escape all this. Ichika tells her that she's wrong and that Tatenashi is always wanting the best for her younger sister. Tatenashi asks whether it's impossible for her to escape this fate. Ichika tells her that it's alright, when the time comes, he'll beat her. Tatenashi is confused, why would Ichika want to beat her? Ichika tell her that he will knock her off from the pedestal at the top and drag her down to his level. Tatenashi begins to understand and laughs at this, telling Ichika that it's impossible with how weak he is right now. Ichika says that it doesn't matter if he's weak right now. When the time comes, he'll be strong, stronger than Tatenashi or anyone else if he has to be. Tatenashi lunges at Ichika in a hug, "Thank you."
Tatenashi opens her eyes from her meditation. Her mind is clear. And for once, all the problems she pushes to the back of her mind are genuinely lighter.
