Alright so the set up for this show is simultaneously okay and a little too similar to Lelouch of the Rebellion for me.
Super racist splinter faction of Brtiannia called Neo-Britannia? Not Bandai's most original idea but sure, it works. Makes perfect sense in context
Invading and subjugating Japan AGAIN!? Kinda lame because it leads to very similar dynamics from the original series of "Check out these super twisted motherfuckers shooting down a bunch of Elevens"
The invasion being limited to just Hokkaido and not all of Japan? That's nice, it has the right idea for if this franchise is ever gonna have a future. It would be a bit premature to do another worldwide conflict after R2 so keeping the scale relatively small makes sense
The explanation for no extranational interference in the conflict being a super advanced wall that was built by the United States of Japan after the Zero Requiem which was breached by Neo-Britannia and then they activated it only in Hokkaido to keep out interference?
Hilariously contrived
Like the post above mine says, it does feel a bit like they've recreated a status quo for the sake of getting new viewers into it.
"Geass Fridays" doesn't quite have the same ring to it as Sunday though.
I haven't rewatched Code Geass since it aired, were the Brittanians always this comically evil?
Rest of the episode wasn't bad even if everything feels way too familiar. And it sucks that all the major twists are going to get spoiled way ahead of time. I've known Rozé was Sakuya for a month now. She has mastered both the art of hiding ridiculously long hair and massive boobs.
I'm guessing Ash has been geass'd into thinking "Rozé" is his brother.
I love how quickly things turned to shit after Lelouch "died". Zero Requiem was always a retarded plan that had zero chance of working long term.

Spoiler:
I'm kind of amazed it wasn't spoiled for me, I thought they'd be like love interests or something, not the same person .
So basically this is Code Geass but Lelouch is a woman and Zero is a blonde dude .

Spoiler for episode 1:
These Neo-Brittanians are downright cuddly compared to the originals, Clovis was ordering genocides.
Zero Requiem was never supposed to work long term though, dunno where people got that from
