Bodycount
With the attention being given the next iterations of Battlefield and Call of Duty, it's understandable that other entries in the genre might slip through the cracks. One such case is Bodycount (Facebook; Twitter; YouTube), widely thought of as the spiritual successor of Black, and currently on track for release around the end of the month, sandwiched (at least in North America) between Deus Ex: Human Revolution and WH40K: Space Marine.
I'll let the numerous articles cited in that Twitter feed do the heavy lifting in terms of explaining features and what not, but here are the high points: it's a colorful, 'arcadey' FPS (complete with powerups, A-Team-styled stund deaths, and level-by-level scoreboards) featuring lots of destruction (not quite to the level of BC2 or RF: Guerrilla - no bringing down the house here) with its campaign supplemented with both strains of multiplayer (2-player co-op and 12-player adversarial). And if you're like me, and find the articles, imagery, and videos - as intriguing as they are - no substitute for actual boots-on-the-ground time, there will be a prerelease demo, as Art Director Max Cant confirms in the video found here (around 14:44).
