Chevalier D'Eon
Chevalier has been licensed by ADV Films, therefore we won't be listing fansubs here on AnimeSuki.
Since it is licensed, the following posts are no longer allowed.
You still are allowed to discuss the anime, that has not changed but please remember to limit the discussion to the story. End of edit by Mod (xris) Production I.G and Shochik has announced a new anime series (24 episodes) that may be named "Chevalier D'Eon". I.G. is currently doing Blood+ and this series is not to be confused with the Chevailers in Blood+. I wonder if any Fansub groups are going to pick this up? Director: Kazuhiro Furuhashi Story Writer: To Ubukata Synopsys of Anime: 18th Century, just before the French revolution, multiple religious cults of the dark side were engaged in secret maneuvers under the name of Revolution. "Le Chevalier D'Eon" (Knight D'Eon) a diplomat and a special agent working for Louis XIV, is fighting against those cults, and also on a mission to find the killer of his own sister. A mysterious cult organization called “Rose Cross” stands in his way, using vicious powers to create a dark creature, “Gargoyle” to over take Europe.... http://animenewsnetwork.com/article.php?id=8544 Last edited by xris; 2006-11-03 at 10:39. |

Intriguing, the real Chevalier d'Eon (Wikipedia link), who was born a man but spent a large portion of his life as a woman, lead a very eventful life it seems.
But an anime about a cross dressing freemason and super spy in the court of King Louis? I'm really not sure about this one but as it's Production I.G. you've got to give them the benefit of the doubt, especially considering how well they're doing with Blood + at the moment. |

Um, the news said they 'announced it'. Which probably means they haven't even drawn the storyboards yet.
So I don't expect this to appear within a year. Patience, people :P edit: I stand corrected. Apparently, just like american anime licensors, they announce something very close to when they actually start releasing it. Last edited by DaFool; 2006-03-23 at 18:02. |

There's now a website for the anime - http://www.chevalier.tv/. I didn't spot an air date though and there's not much on there at the moment. Although the character designs hint at a more 'realistic' look than Blood +...

Woohoo! The site's up... Certainly, the character designs have a slightly more real feel to them than Blood+, but they're not like Otogizoushi or Blood The Last Vampire, which is okay by me anyway. They're by the person who did the Kurau designs, which I liked very much .
Going by the staff I hope we can get kickass action, Kazuhiro Furuhashi's known for doing action series - the typically longer and somewhat more generic ones, admittedly, but with Production I.G. I'm excited to see what'll happen. He did storyboard that awesome ep of Noein (12)... But I'm interested for the time being, anyway. The premise sounds interesting and just quickly glancing at the introduction, it looks like they're going to put in effort to make it feel original and convincing. I sure hope they do... I hope Tow Ubukata does a good job, he's got Murdock Scramble to manage at the same time doesn't he? With Gonzo, that is. I did watch Fafner and the story improved significantly after he hopped on board to do the scripts, but let's just see what happens here... Althoguh really, Production I.G.'s been really active this past while! A whole slew of shows... For Blood+ I think they're getting outside people to do a number of the episodes, so they can spare some work from that - as for IGPX, from the look of it I think it has been carefully done much earlier on so I wouldn't be surprised if they had finished the final episode by now already. Or even before now. But there's that GITS movie, and XXXHolic TV series. Oh well. I can wait for a trailer... though if they've already got character designs and stuff I think it's probably confirmed. It says at the bottom "Begins airing Summer 2006".. They must have done some of the storyboards by now I guess...

As for new info, there's like a short bit in Japanese on it in this report on TAF day 1. There is a picture of some of the staff (including Tow Ubukata), and one new picture here And a very short bit on this page which just kind of confirms that Ubukata will at least be involved with the scripts in the anime. If he left it all to someone else it would become a bit bad...

Thanks for the update Blablabla.
Well based on that trailer I'm definately looking forward to this now. Production I.G has been doing some amazing work on Blood + so I don't doubt Chevalier D'Eon will look awesome and the trailer seems confirm this. Also worth mentioning is the music in that clip. It was pretty epic stuff. I wonder if it's Mark Mancina/Hans Zimmer again? Sounds like their kind of work from Blood +... |
