One Piece - Chapter 823 [manga]
Welcome to the weekly manga discussion thread for One Piece.
Thread GuidelineBriefs
Super-brief summary and a few pics are out! Credit goes to AP's Redon for the info: -Chapter title is "The world is stirring". Splash page features Heraklesun (the beetle man who helped train Usopp). -We see more of the royalty from around the world preparing for the Reverie. Among them is the current king of the Goa kingdom.... STELLY. Yes, it turns out Sabo's adoptive brother has taken the throne! One of the pics shows him in a room with his wife, the queen (it was hard to make out in the pic, but I think her name is something like Sally, I'm not sure). -Meanwhile, on the Thousand Sunny, it's discovered that a certain someone stowed away on the ship.... that someone being Carrot! It also looks like Luffy volunteers to cook the food he received at Zou, heh. Anyways, at the end of the chapter, Pedro discovers a most shocking headline on the newspapers: Baltigo, the revolutionary army's headquarters, HAS BEEN DESTROYED....!!! Damn, and to think we were JUST talking about the Goa royalty in the last thread! Didn't think Stelly would become THAT important, though. I hope we at least still see the previous king though, because I'm sure there was significance in Oda hiding his face..... And as for the RA base.... whoa. I wouldn't be so quick to assume that means Dragon lost to Blackbeard, though.... Last edited by marvelB; 2016-04-14 at 10:38. |

YES!! I've been shipping Carrot for "new nakama" since the second they arrived at Zou and she clashed with Zoro, really hope this means she'll be sticking around and I even more so hope that she'll be a female character who actually fights and has epic moments. Oh please lord Oda let it be true!
Seems my comments about Carrot might not be just shrugged off by everyone else in the forums anymore Also, MarvelB, It's really exciting how you predicted Stelly's comeback in the story for a while now and it's actually happening! Pretty crazy. I'm thinking the destruction of the Revolutionary HQ could be a cover up story to ensure that Dragon can get the advantage over the Government at the Reverie. This could all be a part of the plan, perhaps. Last edited by PixelCreek; 2016-04-14 at 03:37. |

Yeeaaahh my predictions was correct that Carrot snuck in to the ship XD. I hope she can be some big guns that the minks can show their power aside of Pedro.
I can see many Kings comeback and whoa.. Kureha has not changed a single bit :3 Poor Cobra as i can only symphatize over his worsened condition but Vivi already elected as successor of Alabasta Kingdom anyway. Please please please.. I want Neptune and the children are going to Reverie :3 @PixelCreek: Dragon have plenty of strategy though, one of it could deceive those who believe he was dead like when Luffy was expected to be really gone forever during two years at timeskip which means Dragon want to lowered down the WG alertness by letting his HQ destroyed. |

In the end if Dragon's HQ has been destroyed...it probably means they weren't there at the time anyways. Doesn't seem like someone the Navy could easily take down. Probably just one of their HQs and they've already relocated to another one.
Yeah....don't eat that girl's carrot....noted.

You know, more so than showing the monarchs from around the world or the reveal with Stelly, I think the biggest surprise this chapter is that Luffy was eating something OTHER than meat for a change. Also, everyone's going nuts about Carrot, but not a single utterance about Pedro... but then again, he's not a cute little lass, so I guess that's to be expected.
Also, awesome to see Hina rose up in rank, though I'd have expected her to be a VA like Smoker at this point. Seeing Wapol again was great, too (so his new kingdom is in South Blue, eh....?). And going back to Stelly, I find it interesting that Oda went to the trouble of hiding his face, similarly to the Goa king from Luffy's flashback.... Quote:
Well again, the destruction of Baltigo is most likely Blackbeard's doing. After all, Burgess leaked the location of the HQ to his buddies after getting his ass kicked by Sabo, so Teach probably figured a little retribution was in order. I do agree that the RA wouldn't be taken down so easily, though..... Dragon even ordered to have all the RA commanders from around the world gathered there before Burgess spoke with his crew, so I strongly doubt they lost. At most, they probably fought to a stalemate before being forced to retreat from their base and relocating.... |

I'll laugh so hard if somehow Carrot managed to take down bunch of Big Mom's main subordinates because of carrot... she would be awesome for new nakama.. we need a mink badly for the crew after all
too many things happened.. and it would be super fun to see how Rebecca, Vivi, and Shirahoshi finally meet each other I'm afraid that there are too much things might happened at this point. An attack at Reverie would be another possibility.. and at that rate, the crews might re-united at Reverie's celebration *although I'm sure Shanks would definitely appear and deal with the situation quickly if that happened* because I don't think Luffy would go back to Marinejoe again I don't know what happened with Baltigo but Blackbeard is definitely main suspect because of Burgess however, I don't think they can take down any high officer of revolutionary.. Sabo, Ivankov, Scissors-dude, Koala, and Dragon are definitely still alive |

I could wonder more about Coby and Helmeppo since both of them are risen around five to six ranks two years after Marineford Arc but since gaining higher ranks are quite difficult so.. (Coby Currently Commander while Helmeppo was always one rank below Coby which was Lieutenant Commander) Garp retain his position as a Vice Admiral but he still have his title remained as a Hero of the Navy. Anyone can remember how Garp turns down Kong's promotion to Admiral during Battle between Shiki and Gol D Roger. |

BTW, of all those new kings shown, I hope we see more of the guy with the clock-beard. He looks pretty cool (despite his whole face not being shown). Also, if I'm not mistaken, I think one of the kings shown is the current king of the Lvneel kingdom (Montblanc Norland's homeland in North Blue, remember). And we even discover that the Kano country is in West Blue. Most fascinating....

Speaking of the Kano kingdom, what the hell is the Happo navy anyways? Are they a band of mercenaries, an actual navy, or a Pirate Crew? 'Cause from what I can tell the king of Kano probably sent those three on a secret mission to Dressrosa.

I'm not worried about Dragon and the revolutionaries. They probably just retreated and had to relocate to another location.
Moral of this chapter: Don't eat one of that girl's carrots without permission.

I'm assuming they are essentially a pirate crew that's loyal to the Kano kingdom. They basically do the kingdom's dirty work... for instance, need to spy on the illegal actions of another kingdom? why send your own troops who could cause an international incident when you can send a group of pirates

BTW, as far as a potential attack on the Reverie goes..... I doubt it. At the very least, I see zero reason why Dragon would want to attack Mariejois when it's at its most guarded (notice that the monarchs aside from the Nefertaris also had marines escorting them on their journey, even). I mean for instance, I doubt Fisher Tiger chose to free all those slaves from the world nobles in the middle of a Reverie. If anything, they'd have to be reckless nutcases like Jack to attempt some terrorist attack or whatever.
Actually, in retrospect, it makes me find it all the more hilarious that Hody Jones (another reckless moron) seriously wanted to invade the Reverie and slaughter all the royalty present. I doubt that fool would even make it as far as the front gate before he gets destroyed by a Buster Call! |
