Natsume's Book of Friends (Season 5)

Natsume's Book of Friends is getting a season 5 (Natsume Yuujin-Chou Go) this Fall
Some of the staff members will be returning.

Quote:
The May issue of Hakusensha's Monthly LaLa magazine is revealing on Thursday that Yuki Midorikawa's Natsume's Book of Friends (Natsume Yūjin-Chō) manga is inspiring a fifth television anime season, Natsume Yūjin-Chō Go, this fall. The issue also features a 46-page chapter of the manga with a color opening page.
Plot Summary:
Natsume's just an ordinary kid, except he can see spirits, just like his grandma Reiko could. Reiko, though, used to bully the spirits, and bound them to her will in the "Book of Friends." Now that Natsume has inherited this book, a never-ending stream of spirits is coming after him. With the help of a spirit "cat" (who really just wants Natsume to die so he can have the book), Natsume spends his days dissolving the contracts that bind the spirits and trying not to get killed.

One of the websites had some sample images for the Natsume 2017 calendar up. If the animation studio contributed to it, then the season could be gorgeous (I had been expecting quality along the lines of the DRRR sequels). Closer view of the cover:

Season 5 PV:

More Reiko is always welcome. And good to see Nyanko-sensei looking as fat as ever.

Since as of this post no one has picked the series up for simulcast but the first ep airs in Japan today I am moving this thread to active for those watching it.

Sincerely hope it gets picked up for streaming though - I love this series. ^^

I find it almost unimaginable that no one will simulcast this. It has a sizable following in the West.

Ep 01

Natsume is back, and everything is as it was before. If that's not praise I don't know what is. ^^

Totally and utterly followed.

This was beautiful. From the OP songs, to the humor, and youkai problems, I'm so glad to see the show return this season.

Especially Madara

Ahhh, it's back. I'm happy.

I hope the episode foreshadow's this season for Natsume. Reiko has always been a presence in the story and I hope she gets fleshed out more this season.

So Reiko is Natsume's grandmother.
Had a child unmarried.

And that child was Natsume's mother, whose father also left? Who we don't really much at all.

It is so nice to have this franchise back. It feels like just another episode and for this show that's high praise .

I kind of wish the ED had something more going on than...well nothing, but such is .

Nice to at least get a mention of the guy that probably ends up being Natsume's grandfather. Though of course we never see the guy.

One always has to watch out for crazy pot people . Even the other youkai are like "there is something wrong with that one."

Yaaayyy!!! Natsume is back!!! I love this series! I think I like it mostly because of Nyanko-sensei/Madara. He's so round and cute...in a not so cute way...hmm, that makes no sense. Oh well.

Love the ambiance and story of each episode!

That was covered at the end of Season 4. Natsume's mother died shortly after he was born. His father raised him alone for a time, but then he died as well.
