Gotta still plan to watch Asura Cryin' (starting Sunday I think, when I'm done marathoning AssClass's second season) from the same studio with high expectations, I will watch this one even though I'm only slightly keen on idol stuff, it's like it is everywhere lately.

They were usually known for battle harems and mahou shoujo bonafides, but since 2013 they are proven to be capable at exploring other types of stories.

New details about the series announced:
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...mories/.104081 The premise sounds exactly like a VR version of Venus Project. The anime will most probably run 1-cour with the first 15 minutes of each episode being animated and the remainder being live-action program.

The hybrid idea, 15 minutes anime, rest live action, sounds interesting. Probably won't work on me but I'll give it a try.

Promotions look somewhat promising. It makes me think of Aikatsu! in an art-style more aimed at adults.
Newbie Director, but scriptwriter has a very solid and encouraging resume. The six main girls feature relative newcomers (or total newcomers) to the anime business, going by MAL. So that's a little concerning. At least Moe Toyota has some experience with significant roles (Hibike's Sapphire). So Moe Toyota as Vivi Lin. Well, let's hope she succeeds in moving moe forward. Let's go places! Idol anime shows/movies tend to be winners for me lately, but I'm a little cautious about this show given some of the inexperience on the staff. Still, there is one man that helps this all tremendously. Ryotaru Okiayu as a masked man overseeing idols. That is a very amusing and potentially glorious idea. The man who voiced my favorite anime villain of all time, and numerous other very good anime characters. Well then, I'm at least going to give this show a try. I'm cautiously optimistic.

This series looks like it was not picked up for simulcasting, but am moving it to current as a just in case - some watch it at the source after all. ^^

I recently watched the first two episodes of this.
The show is very straightforward, but if someone is desperate for more idol anime that's similar to Love Live or iM@S, well... beggars can't be choosers, as the old saying goes. It's not like there's a lot of idol anime airing in this particular Fall season. If you like Love Live and/or iM@S, you'll probably find something of value in this show, anyway. The six main characters are pretty likable, and the show has the odd amusing moment here and there. I also like the setup of having two different main groups that work side-by-side and kinda support each other, but they're nonetheless two separate groups. Opening scene of Episode 1 is pretty cool, with some nice Symphogear-style action!

decide to take a look at this...
and turns out it's another promo anime for live singer/actors... basically around 7~8 mins of anime and 15 mins of live talk... I dropped that other anime because of this, getting tired of all these promo animes Probably why it isn't picked up by official-sources and only have Fansubs, lol. o well. |

Watched the first episode of this today. The subs from the only available group for this show are pretty crap, but I decided hey, at least it might be another chance to practice my Japanese. The biggest surprise came during the seiyuu/idol talk segment at the end of the show, where they apparently plan to have a (otaku/idol vocabulary-related) Chinese Learning corner (it was mentioned that two of the seiyuus are presently learning Chinese themselves, so they were the ones who lead the corner (not sure if just for this episode, or for all of them)). As I have some heritage-based basic Chinese ability as well, it was a truly bizarre experience, attempting to brush up on Chinese via my imperfect Japanese while watching an anime-idol TV show.
The production values on this series are not impressive (I'm kinda astonished at the shitty image quality of the raws) but I guess I might continue to pick up an episode of this here or there, particularly on Mondays or Tuesdays which are pretty barren this season. |
