EP 01
Gotta admit I thought it was enjoyable, and pretty effective as an intro ep ... we got to know a little bit of all the main characters and I kinda liked them individually and as a group unit. It is still the first ep, of course, so things could go anywhere from here, but I thought it was a good premier and plenty fine for a short series. ^^ Will be following this one.

Ep 02
Yep...this one is definitely a keeper. Much to like about its simple (in the good sense of the word) narrative and pleasant characters. It reminds me a little of the children's mystery solving series I used to read many moons ago. The ED is kinda nice too.

Agreed this series is nice, they're putting a lot of love into showing the characters and their feelings. Hope later eps look at mysteries in increasing detail though.
Does anyone know why they wouldn't be allowed to ride bikes to school? Last edited by Ghostfriendly; 2015-10-14 at 17:54. |

Ep 03
Yet another good ep...the characters are all slowly coming into focus at a very steady yet pleasing pace for me, and Aya's worries and her epiphanies are very normal (in the best sense of the word) ones and in some ways pretty insightful for an elementary schooler...plenty of adults I have met could benefit from reaching simikar conclusions! XD Really, the series is a pleasant combo of charming and...wholesome, again in the best sense of the word. At least for me.

This series is really cute, and Aya is a pretty good, easily relatable heroine. But the shortness is really annoying. :/
And Wakatake, you should just focus on the lesson learned: if you have a prized bike don't use such a lousy "chain" to secure it. (OK, he doesn't live in a place like I do, where any bike secured by less than a U-lock gets stolen in a matter of minutes, but still...) That, and they probably finish late and have to go home in the dark, another possible safety concern. And then of course the bike might get stolen! |

Dealing with the criminal themselves...was done about as well as such development could be. It helped that the criminal had about as little common sense as Watatake. I can't help wondering why he robbed at all; probably to pay off an expensive habit he couldn't tell his parents about, or just for the thrill. Which is quite similar to the gang's motive for setting up their detective agency.
It was cool that Aya had to learn a new skill, rather than the case just happening to need a skill she already had. It's all been pleasantly self-conscious, skirting the edge of childishness, and overall very sweet. Will their next case be about a criminal putting sharp or dirty objects into foodstuffs? |

Ep 05
Oh ho? That was unexpected. They did a small time skip to Middle School. Interesting. We get to see a little more of Aya away from the other four and we also get to have a few more characters introduced into the story. Interesting. Well, another good ep in my opinion. ^^

Yes, it was a nice episode. Poor Aya doesn't have friends in middle school either, but maybe she'll end up being friends with this Kakeru. Maybe this arc's case will have something to do with Kakeru, too... (At least I don't think they'd cast Kaji Yuuki for a bit role.)
By the way, I know I'm slow but I just realized why they're called "KZ", they all have "kazu" in their name. |

I don't think she's like an otome game heroine at all? Just because she has a bunch of guy friends... She's not really crushing on anyone atm (although I guess there will be something between her and Wakatake, meh), and nobody seems to be hitting on her either (her fantasies re: Kuroki walking her home notwithstanding).

Just started watching tonight and was hooked a bit. I wasn't expecting a children's anime to discuss class divisions in a cram school (how many people here know that?), and quite a bit of emphasis on personal growth. Picked up.
OK, KZ was adopted from a series of novel that targets upper elementary, so a reverse harem is unlikely. (Note the air time as well) As for the meaning of "KZ"? "Katsu," or "victory." [According to the official sample of the first book.

So, for the past weekend I have been attempting to get some further information on this series to author this series' TV Tropes page, else it's unlikely anyone will launch it ever.
In the process I got to read the samples (first ~20 pages) of the first 4 novels (I will mentioned why later), and got the following tidbits that I don't think it's any spoiler: Spoiler for novel content not covered by the show:
BTW: a shameless request: can TV Tropes editors here take a look at the article a linked above? Having only one person editing it risks of bias and omissions. Thanks in advance! Will be back after I watch the next episode.

This would qualify as a "reverse harem" series. A tween version, but there's still evidence of romantic feelings (small and childish, but those blushes and outbursts of jealousy don't come from a desire to be "friends"), so reverse harem fits plenty. That said, I'm waiting to see how long it takes Aya to get offended that she's mainly just a SECRETARY who's occasionally called in for extra borderline work involving clerical tasks.
