winter 2016 already? what is this replacing the fairy tail anime or will run together with fairy tale anime?

From what I predicted, most likely the latter. I'm also betting it'll air late at night.

Fairy Tail Zero is only 10 chapters long if I remember correctly. They'll have to add tons of original material to make even a 12 episodes series.

Not that I'm complaining but it's still odd they decided to adapt such a short manga.

It's 13 chapters actually. Don't know how long they are but it's enough for 1-cour probably.

Well they have the chapters from the Zero manga, a few chapters told by Mavis in the regular manga. I suppose they could go into more detail on the war, guild life, and such in between those 2 as well. Plus they could add some after mavis's story. All together I suppose it could reach enough for 12 episodes.

Well its a short manga so one cour is enough to cover the manga and even expand on some things.

According to Moon Phase, the show will premiere on January 9 for next year, every Saturday at 10:30AM (Japanese time), effectively confirmed for replacing the main Fairy Tail anime's slot.

Well, kind of figured Fairy Tail Anime would be raking a break at some point, they are almost got up with the Manga. Guess this will let the Anime give it what it needs for a while.

I'm glad it's getting an Anime Adaptation, it was one of my favorite spin offs and really explains a lot.
