Am I dreaming? Is this real life? It's too early for April's Fools, isn't it? Can't actually believe I'm seeing this happen. Even Biscuit Hammer anime felt more plasuible lmao
I'm so dumb, I'm actually starting to think this is a prequel to Hagiwara getting off his ass.

There were some Bastard!! games at one point, but I think they're buried under several centimeters' worth of cobwebs...I think Hagiwara just dove back into the world of doujinshi and never bothered to return. ...And I am just as shocked as everyone else, especially since this is a series whose author himself left to wither away quite a while ago, and right after starting a new story arc, to boot.

BITCHIN'!!!! Totally unexpected! I haven't thought about this series in a long while. I read Bastard years ago online ages ago. I never thought it'd get a reboot.
For the love of God, please don't half-ass the animation. Get it as close to the OVA's quality as possible. |

What is up with these out-of-the-blue anime announcements for series that have been long since over? I thought the business model was, make anime to sell the manga, not "anime for the hell of it" these days... first Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer, and now Bastard!!
Not that I'm complaining, mind you. I need to go back and read Bastard!! anyways. It seemed so fun.

https://twitter.com/bastard_PR/statu...62138971033600 This means that they are aiming a much different target audience: - Those who watch the Castlevania animated series. - Those who long wanted an anime that is like "In my time, anime was much better when it was just Ninja Scroll and [those 3 series]", as in gritty. - Those who grew up with the ultraviolent, gritty and edgy OAVs of the 1990s published in the West by the company Manga Video/Manga Entertainment, with its very infamous VHS trailer (look up "Manga Video Promotional Video version 2" on youtube, you WILL understand). |

Ah, so this is for those folks who watched the extremely violent/gory 80's anime, including the one that Manga Video's mascot is from. I have a friend who LOVES that kind of anime.
Yeah, that audience is definitely older than the one most anime is aimed at today. Probably also why they can get away with producing this old title.

It'll be hard to unhear Jean "Horseface" Kirschtein as Dark Schneider. Now if only the entire Berserk series of 2016/2017 was as good as that trailer. |

The trailer looks great!
But OTOH I also want a Blu-ray remaster of the old OVAs. Quote:
For example, the same Madhouse gave us OPM & Overlord. OPM-team did great. Overlord-team did.....meh.
