Did an advanced search and I couldn't even find a thread for the first movie.

Regardless.... I was pleseantly surprised with the first one, so I am quite interested in seeing what could be pulled off with this sequel.

Paranormal Activity 2 is an upcoming horror film directed by Tod Williams and written by Michael R. Perry, and it is a sequel to the 2009 film, Paranormal Activity. It is set to be released in theaters October 22, 2010.

didn't Katie murder Micah at the end? So how is it possible that he'll be returning? Unless he appears in some flashbacks or extra video footage the police may have found.

Anyway, I'll be looking forward to the movie's release even if it made me sick quite a few times (due to the camera work).

Well, the first movie had several alternative endings, so maybe they are gonna take that approach to start the new one. Then again, I was under the impression that all endings had similar conclusions (only saw two of them myself), so the question still remains in that regard.

you think that it's all real, which is revealed to be not the case. So, a #2 automatically has much less of the horror that you could get in #1.

+1 , so boring . I didn't get a single fear , better watch Horror movies like "The Ring" etc...

There are 2 endings , i watched those 2 , one deliver more "action" at the end .

I was laughing as well. For some reason I don't ever find horror movies scary. When I was with my friends and we were watching Saw I started laughing and then everyone else did as well. Yes. I guess I am a horrible person.

I personally never takes this approach. If it's a movie, I simply try to see it for what it is.

I also find most horror movies to be not all that scary. If it's yet another movie about a bunch of teenagers that get chased down by "something", I no longer bother watching it.

Me neither, but I do enjoy the subtle approach used by this type of movies. More like a mistery than a horror movie per see.

So...I went and watched this and it was definitely better than the first one, which isn't that hard considering the first wasn't even scary until maybe the last 2 seconds of the movie. About 80% of the movie was really slow and stuff but it got interesting towards the end. Overall, it exceeded my expectations. If you liked the first one/thought it was scary, you should was this one

Extremely good horror film. This is one of the rare sequels that improves upon the original in all the right ways.

The first one was a one time thing, it won't scare me again. It looks cool to watch with friends though.

Just saw it and have to say that I seem to prefer the first one over this... though it's still a good watch.

Spoiler for If you've seen it or don't care:

This one was less creepy and more reliant on jumpscares - loud noises like the Kitchen suddenly 'exploding' and such.

The first one had far more creepiness in it due to the 'demon' being more 'there'... to put it awkwardly. There were more footsteps in the first one, more close proximity interactions that weren't just the to make you jump (breathing/whispering/moving the bedcovers/footprints). The second one seemed to be just random things banging and falling (except for the 'getting dragged away' part).

But it was still enjoyable. Didn't manage to make me jump as most of them were fairly predictable, but the woman sitting next to me really didn't seem to have the nerves for this movie. She was constantly jumping towards her boyfriend/partner... which he must've enjoyed. :P

I don't know about you guys but I watched it a couple of days ago in a theater with approximately 10-15 people. It sure was empty... the ending in particular, was the most WTF? Instagibbed by Katie.

Lol I watched the Ring and a whole bunch of other scary movies.....but for some reason this is the one that scares me the most (i.e. after I'm done watching it and keep thinking about it), probably because of all the rumors about it actually being true. Anyways, don't plan on watching the second one.

Watched it last night and I thought it was good, but not better than the first. PA2 didn't have the creepy environment and ambient that PA1 had. It still used the same concept, but with more cameras and angles. This time PA2 focuses mainly on the whole house, whereas it was only the bedroom in PA1. I won't lie, PA1 made me not sleep for about 3-4 nights because the bedroom in the movie is similar to my room. Since PA2 wasn't as creepy/scary as PA1, I slept just fine.

The problem I have with PA2 is how they turned to cliche scare tactics. You know the whole gets-quiet-then-bam-loud-noise tactic. They used that in PA1, but it wasn't used frequently throughout the movie. In PA2, the loud noise just happens, so the character gets scared and bam we transition to day time . When looking back I think there were only 2 scenes that made me on edge of my seat and fortunately, those scenes were not in the trailer. Oh, one thing that is great is that most of the scenes in the trailers were not in the actual film.

The cool thing about this movie is the time line. PA2 is mainly a prequel, but it becomes the present time line during PA1 and turns to a sequel at the end. The end felt very rushed and they could have done a lot more. I mean, the movie is only about 1.5 hours and there were plenty of time. I understand budget restrictions, but I'm sure they could have squeezed in a couple of more bucks to make a more complete ending. Considering how well this series is doing, I am sure there will be a PA3 because of the end. Since a lot of movies are in the 3D hype, maybe a Paranormal Activity 3D?
