Main writer of Danganronpa series Kazutaka Kodaka will provide new original story that will conclude storyline presented in games "Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc" and "Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair". Main staff or first series that adapted first game is returning as well. New anime is unrelated new game that will reboot series and tell new story. Last edited by ukulelembo; 2015-12-02 at 12:37. |

This isn't meant to be a sequel to the first anime, but a series to warp up the hanging plot threads from the games and finish the story for the game/franchise fans since V3 is looking like it's going to be a reboot of the franchise. |

So I guess the 3rd game in development won't have any characters from the first two games? They should package this anime for western audiences with the 3rd game then so they don't miss out.
Well you can always watch a youtube longplay. Just think of it like a long movie. It's actually not as bad as you think. |

Man, short-hair Naegi looks weirdly similar to Hinata (SDR2 MC), minus additional and sharper ahoge. |

Ugh, there's so much about this that rubs me the wrong way. First of all, it's a confusing move for them to shift the conclusion of the game series (where the main fanbase is) to an anime (where the average watcher have neither the context nor interest for it) and continuing the mainline game series in a reboot. If they're trying to appeal to a new audience they're just going about it the wrong way.
They should've just made two games to conclude the series and start a new reboot/spinoff series. Not to mention the first anime was terribly mediocre (and lerche is on duty again) which is the clincher. Going in this direction means the loss of interest from the original fanbase and gambling on attracting a new audience (and the shrinking fanbase) with the very confusingly marketed v3 reboot. |

So in other words if you're like me who played both games, I have to watch this to have a meaningful conclusion to the Danganronpa story before they reboot everything in the third game? That's... slightly insulting to those of us who stuck with the game series.

Yeah, I find this a.... rather unusual direction for the series to take. I mean, I get DR3 is apparently a reboot and all, but I don't feel an anime is necessary to conclude the plot from the first few games (and it doesn't help that the second game's adaption gets skipped altogether). Well, maybe the fact that this is original content means that it won't be rushed like the first game's adaption.... I hope.

Wow so the entire cast of Danganronpa 2 are going to be in it as well. I guess their "deaths" in the virtual world didn't actually kill them. No sign of Nanami though which makes sense.
Kind of makes me feel bad for those who really liked characters who died in the first game. |
