"Hello darkness, my old friend..."
I seem to remember me saying Negi won't be able to escape 5toubun's shadow down the line or something like that. It's a massive shadow after all. Even after ending it kept selling, kept outselling the romcom competetion at WSM as a finished work. So milking it further is as natural as breathing. But this time around it's anime original material or more or less anime canon supervised by Negi. It shouldn't even be called "bait" or whatever. The main couple is all set and done. It won't be a harem afterstory either. At best every girl will get their scene, which just going to be a background decoration for the main couple. Look, I don't give a damn about the main couple. Developing them after the choice was poor taste and even said development is questionable. But at the very least there is still one big elephant in the room the wife refused to talk about openly. If anything, this anime canon story should salvage that. It's not necessarily a honeymoon hijack too, as the wife was completely okay with the rest tagging along. But the tale was not told in the manga, only them preparing and showing them on an airplane. It's Hawaii, unless the anime does something differently. Better find some lava rocks... |

Ending wasn't enough to actually end this series . In some ways this is the kind of thing I fear with series I like. Just perpetual milking beyond any reason to keep the story going.
If they wanted to tell another story with the main couple I wouldn't actually say that's a bad move. But leave the harem behind in that case. In some ways it is just downright sad for the other girls. Just have them take the loss and move with their lives. Hanging around for their sister's honeymoon is just bizarre. In the end, money talks. And they probably can get away with milking this thing even more before the most hardcore fans start getting annoyed.

Ooff, when the anime industry is thirsting for anything to animate and they realize they can still milk you before you dry out. As Xenoblade 2 said, there is no need for an eternity.
Now I'm worried about Shakugan no Shana... They won't touch Zero no Tsukaima, but man, *shiver* Also, Doyakonga

Some authors are petty in this regard and refuse to hand their heroines to nameless strangers off-screen. And there is Komi Naoshi, who while didn't have a new serialization after Nisekoi, only oneshots, but made plenty of his side heroines marry and got kids with nameless, faceless characters. |

I once read a series where a guy married his favorite idol and was hesitant having sex because he wanted her to stay pure, so nothing really surprise me anymore in that regard.
I'm assuming Negi and/or his editor are scared of changing the formula that brought them money so the sisters will always be around Foutarou and won't be shown having a new love interest. There is the potential for spin offs and what if stories but given that from what I heard even the VN didn't give the other girls a proper happy ending I wonder if Negi simply us adamant that there is only one pairing for Foutarou.

The VN or the games gave kisses and there were hookups if I remember correctly, but it drew the line with wedding dresses. No weddings in-game, but the girls tried on the dresses, giving obvious implications that wedding should be a future step for the couples.
So despite routes and whatnot, the canon wedding couldn't be threathened with a non-canon wedding in the games. At least that's how I remember these things. I could be wrong. A spin-off manga taking place in the present timeline post-wedding, even without any sort of romance could be fun, but Negi shouldn't supervise it in my opinion. It feels like WSM/Kodansha constantly tests the staying power of the work, yet not attempted to do anything within the universe. Once Naito Marcey finishes Amagami-san, they should really persuade him to do some adult spin-off for the quints. He was once Negi's assistant and some of his designs are reminiscient of the quints in my opinion. |

Ib am actually one of the minority people who was perfectly fine with ending (I would like any ending bersides harte/none or Itsuki winning). But I think it ended good and anything beyond will only make things worse. So hard pass for me.

Meanwhile, the games have been officially released in the west, so I'll be able to try to see if I can reach a more satisfying ending. Still not sure if it will be better to play them before or after watching the new anime...do we have a release date?
