Arpeggio of blue steel
FlyingDog has grabbed a domain for aokihagane.jp, sentient battleship sci-fi Arpeggio of Blue Steel. and the rumor is abound that an anime is already planned, or even at works
Source : Crunchyroll http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-new...nisekoi-rumors So...what do you guys think? i say im excited for this, because usually when the series is given a domain is only when anime is planned.. Arpeggio is very good manga and im hoping a good studio adapted it, what do you guys think of a good studio that is right for this kind of anime? sunrise? jcstaff? and maybe a nice seiyuu recommendation too? |

I care about the rest of the characters, the story, the strategy/politics, the animation, the VAs and most importantly, the battles which should be executed right, not just two ships randomly firing at each other ala Battleship and Bayformers. In short, get a serious studio or better not adapt it at all. Half-ass adaptation is one of the things I hate the most in this world. They already ruin Maoyuu Maou Yuusha, better not mess with this one.

Synopsis doesn't catch my eyes much, but I sure do like the blue-haired tall girl in the covers above, this is what I got into the series. The artwork of some characters also do not get much for me, maybe I'll get used to it when the overall infos will come. Given FlyingDog as the producer, I am always cautious with the studios that will animate this adaptation, I can't imagine anybody that will get their hands other than either Sunrise or Production I.G. I really hope the CGI will be good and either Sanzigen or Orange would handle them well.

Girls und Panzer is (almost literally) a child’s play (they don’t even use live ammo), so you should tolerate some of its silliness. That anime doesn't even take itself seriously. On the other hand, Arpeggio has serious battles between modified battleships, heavy-cruisers, destroyers, and submarines involving some precise tactics. Politics and cute AI are also thrown in for good measure. So yeah, those two are very different.

This series is hardly anything like Girls Und Panzer. Arpeggio of Blue Steel involves an actual war against an alien race, and unlike Upotte they do have a serious justification for the personification of the ships that ties into the story's mystery. This is a rather serious manga no doubt about it, even with its occasional silliness. It's got more in common with something like Blue Submarine No.6 than GuP.

That's because Upotte does have personified and anthropomorphic weapons of war, unlike GuP, so I used the comparison where relevant.
However, in Arpeggio's case the ships having personifications is not just done on a whim, but actually ties into the story with believable justification. This is a pure science fiction story through and through.

The anime has been confirmed. Probably will air 2 or 3 seasons after Spring.
Now, we just have to wait for the cast annoucements. Hmm, I wonder if they'll use the Drama CD cast. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...-gets-tv-anime |

Arpeggio anime get the studio that made Black Rock Shooter, director of Persona 4 & Devil Survivor 2, and the scriptwriter of Qwaser of Stigmata?!! Man, I wish this anime all the luck it can get. It’s gonna need it. Otherwise, we’ll get a mediocre series at best.
I don't know about (or hardly remember) the score in Monster Hunter or Devil May Cry games, so I can't say anything about Masato Kouda. Anyway, if the image from ANN is the official chara-design for the anime, well, it doesn’t look bad at all.

Sounds interesting. I remember this being mentioned along with Nisekoi for animes. I'll keep an eye out for it. More sci-fi series is always a good thing.
Also interested in finally seeing Sanzigen do another anime after Black Rock Shooter. I wonder if it will be CG rendered though... Quote:

I’m not bashing this anime before it even started. I wish them luck, and I mean it. I’m a fan of the original work, and really hope the anime can rid all of my doubts once it airs.

Not saying you're bashing the anime early, just trying to convince you not to be so pesimistic about it based on past works of the people involved. Those are rarely indicative of what a combination of different people can put together. The great Araki and Okouchi (imo) were both involved with Guilty Crown. That's hardly indicative of what they can do. I know when to be pessimistic about an anime and this is not it.
