Looking for animes with fantasy or older times settings
Well looking for things more medieval if it contains some fantasy perfect, you know things like berseker, Blacksmith etc...doesn't really have to be set in a medieval theme though someway along the way where tech wasn't that advanced, would like for the shows to have some actions, Animelist is in the sig.

-Bastard is a very action driven tale set in a post apocalyptic fantasy world. It's kind of GAR and not too serious.
-Magic Knight Rayearth sends three girls on adventures in a parallel fantasy world. Has lots of (kinda bad) action. -Vision of Escaflowne is also set in a parallel fantasy world. -You should really check out the Ghibli stuff with fantasy worlds. Princess Monoke and Howl's Moving Castle first and foremost. Spirited Away is nice too. Tales from Earthsea gets a lot of hate from adaption decay, but I think it's woth the look for the art alone. -Nausicaa is also a pretty good take at a post apocalyptic fantasy world. -Windaria is a pretty interesting story of a war between two nations. -Mahou Senshi Louie is a parody set in a fantasy world similar to Slayers. -You can't get more primeval than Genshi Shounen Ryuu, but I'd recommend that only for hardcore watchers. -Beast Player Erin is a nice fantasy tale happening in an oriental fantasy setting. At parts a very beautiful story. It's not very action driven however. -Katanagatari is an interesting story set in alternative history. I'd also recommend taking a look at Basilisk for it has lots of action and gore similar to Ninja Scroll, which you could also take a look at. -I'll also second Record of Lodoss War. More specifically the OVA series. It's infinitely superior to the TV version. -Finally, if you want something atrocious, you could check out Garzey's Wing. It can be hilarious if you don't take it too seriously. |

Otogizoushi - first arc plays in heian times
Shounen Onmiyouji - in case magic action, and heian era is ok Tenpo Ibun Ayakashi Ayashi - again magic action, though somewhat slower, and more geared towards the development of story and characters (assuming you mean the classical Ayakashi in your list, and not this one) Blade of the Immortal - sword action Kousetsu Hyaku Monogatari - trippy horror, special art style erm, *coughcough* Naruto? Sword of the stranger - movie, again sword action Tsukikage Ran - female, sake-loving samurai and her female fighter companion (no yuri relationship in any way) Three Kingdoms - any version of this classic If you want european 18th century (not medieval, I know ), maybe Le Chevalier d'Eon Last edited by Niji; 2011-03-19 at 05:46. |
