An new anime titled 'Prince of Stride Alternative' has been announced.
The official site is up and it will be adapted by Madhouse studios. It will debut in Winter 2016.

The tagline is: "Boys Sprint to the End of Summer". I think it will be a sports related anime with track & field involved.

Premise/Plot Summary:

The series revolves around a closed-down "Stride" club at Hōnan Academy. First-year high school students Takeru Fujiwara and Nana Sakurai attempt to restart the club, but they must recruit six members for the team. They ask Riku Yagami to join, but he turns them down by saying that Stride is the one thing he doesn't want to do. However, Takeru and Nana drag Riku into the clubroom to try to convince him.

Looks like Free! with track and field activities with Hamatora-style character designs, plus there's Atsuko Ishizuka directing it. What else could I ask for?

I'm asking for no annoying characters (like Miyano's character in Free), and a better treatment of the characters I'm interested in (because oh boy, the last episode of Free).

According to the official site the cast is made up of Hanazawa Kana, Kimura Ryouhei, Okamoto Nobuhiko, Ono Kenshou, Ono Daisuke, Shimono Hiro, Suwabe Junichi, Okiayu Ryoutarou, Miyano Mamoru, Hirakawa Daisuke, Eguchi Takuya, Suzuki Tatsuhisa, Ono Yuuki, Toyonaga Toshiyuki.

She looks really cute on the game website, though. And she's not even in the anime PV.

Of cause there's a chance they just exclude her (hence "Alternative") but it could lead for another Free (and I hate spocons heavy on yaoi subtext but loose on sport department).

They won't exclude her, she's listed in the cast.

Anyway, I wouldn't mind if it ended up being another Free, provided it's a better version of Free.

People who played the source game say "it reads more like a sports manga" and "a (semi)realistic story of how a team that was almost broken up gets motivated to run for each other".

Long story short, it could surpass Free! in the right hands.

I must ask, Sogabe san, just WHERE you got the funds to make this anime?
The sales of the game is highly disappointing compare to the work that you had put in.
Just HOW did you continue to get the sponsor pay for this project?

BTW, I should mention this is a multimedia project like K.
It has already a couple of novel and drama CD out before the game came out a few weeks a go.
New manga and drama CD project is on the way as well.

...but who cares!!!

Before all that, where is the OST!! Gimme already. Co-compose by Watanabe Tasuhisa　and Gainguage? Release on shelf already!!!!

Yeah...I also thought he was female at first too. :/

Dunno about the premise though - might not be my cup of tea, even if I did do track and field in high school a bit.

Ok I'm not really into sports anime nor am I into otome-ge stuff but I must say ep 1 was really fun and refreshing regardless of those facts. lol HanaKana helps of course, too, although I wouldn't say she is the reason I'll watch it.

Btw. I googled stride to no avail so I guess it's based on good old parkour.
