I feel like there is a lot of subliminal messages in anime. Those concepts can also be seen in certain lifestyles. I feel like a lot of subliminal Japanese concepts can also be found in African American art, comics, and movies. It's as if there was an underground world with symbols that meant certain things that only certain people know what they truly mean. I also understand that the exact meaning changes from city to city, country to country etc....but I was just wondering what someone would make of Merry's eyes in this anime?

In the urban world what would a rectangle in the middle of her eyes mean?

What other subliminal messages have you discovered in other anime?

Merry's character design is supposed to be sheep-like, so her pupils are rectangular-shaped like a sheep's. Nothing culturally deep about it.
