Mardock Scramble and Le Chevalier D'Eon is enough of a track record to have some faith in the potential of the source material. Hopefully it gets a deserving adaptation.

No date set yet but confirmed 2024. That was quite an intriguing PV. Very slick visuals, protagonist is quite appealing on multiple levels, Kevin Penkin (huh, this guy is Australian - nice) music was a good match. Guessing it's latter half of 2024 at this rate.

Looks like female Guts in a typical isekai setting. Considering the guy who wrote this also wrote Chevalier d'Eon and Heroic Age I'll definitely check it out.

Also, the LN is finished with 4 volumes. Hard to say if the plot here will be good or not yet. But the setting reminded me of SukaSuka a bit and I have hopes for it.

The main character reminds me a little bit of Fran from Reincarnated as a Sword. The show seems... ok. Not top tier. Not trash. I'll give it another episode or two to see if it can kick in a decent story.

Oh.. and is that Earth in the sky above them? Are we dealing with parallel planets or some such thing?

Watched 1st Episode, love it, regret having to wait / not being able to binge it.

Hoping it won't betray expectations (know nothing about the source)

I was rooting for the tentacle monster in the fight in the first episode.

I know death of the mentor is a common trope to kickstart a hero's journey... but I do hope the show eventually does explain why Sian had to get deleted beyond drama for the sake of drama.

Overall, intriguing first episode. Decent enough world building without giving the mystery away. Excellent music. Dunno much about the show (is this an anime original?), but somehow feels like a throwback 90s fantasy series, and I'm all for it.

Yeah, harboring similar sentiments. I could understand being "deleted" happening because Belle was too attached to Sian, but she was pretty resolved to leave him after the flashback. And since he can't do anything but teach, his role would be essentially over after this episode, so no need to kill him. I suppose an advantage of the memory erase is that we'll be able to see her think for herself, and not harken back on "what Sian would do" or how "he'd be better than me" in various situations.

The segment of when she was young was rather abrupt as well. Its clear she was ostracized as a child, but I felt that the segment was not thorough enough. It didn't allow me time to sink into her feelings enough to make an impact. This is one of those shows that could have used an extended length/double-length episode to give those events time to breath.

I also wished they didn't spoil the "fight" by previewing it at the beginning. It became obvious that when he brought up a "trial" what it would have entailed when paired with the opening segment; but I think it would have had more emotional impact to be presented that fact in the moment.

All in all, pretty solid airing. I'm not too concerned with the mysteries of her origin this time, surprisingly to myself. I'm more interested in seeing her seek a place of her own, and what trials and tribulations she'll have to endure to reach it =03.

Yeah, I also got strong Fran vibes from the MC, using a buster sword didn't help that.

A lot of the concepts of the show are just thrown at you, so it makes for a bit of a disorienting experience, but it's still really nice to look at. I'll give this one a pick-up, because very cute girls with big swords tickles my fancy. Not to mention all the cat-ladies around.

"How much terminology do you want?"
This anime: "Yes"

Seriously. Like, half of the lines use unique terminology, and I don't even think there is a need. Also, why is the outside of the city evil and the inside good?
Why does that even matter if she is gonna leave this place anyways?

Hmm... here I was expecting the memory wipe to prevent her from reflecting on moments she was with Sian, but ends up doing that all the same =0v.

The god stuff kinda went over my head honestly. It feels unnecessarily complicated. I'm getting lazier and lazier trying to understand stories these days. I just want to see her journey, like The Third: The Girl with the Blue Eye. Hopefully she'll defeat the horseman next episode(ofc she will) so she can do that.
