I've stopped writing for a loooooooooo~ng time, so a refreshment of sorts.
Spoiler for Blank of 6 Months : Pilot Prologue:
~Blank of 6 Months I : Reflections~
~Isdera~
The night of 14 days ago, I saw my death before me. Just like the hundreds of times before. I felt then, for a short instance… what it was like to lose everything that held me together, engulfed in darkness as my blood gushed out from the thousands of cuts on me, my arms losing the grip of the hilt I’ve lived and died with… as that knight of spear stood before me.
But I had lived… just like that hundreds time as well. But this time, it was different.
I made a comrade… no, we found someone we could call a friend. He was not the first, and probably not the last… but to people like us, detached from this world, following our own code of life… it was enough.
Our only regret is probably not being able to oblige to his own wish and request… for the Flame of Swords, was not our strength, and General already had his own.
And 7 days… ago, this land was covered in the shadows of that ark.
The power wielded by the most powerful of Ancient Belka’s time in the continents beyond where we lived and struggled, those who manipulated the forms of life to go beyond human limits, seeking to create one’s world of their own.
He who desired to take the world into his hands and shape his own… for reasons no one knew, except himself.
Our blades were unsheathed, but it was still hidden under the ark’s shadow. We fought none that mattered, for ‘they’ were there.
Those who had saved the darkness of the night from her eternal pain. Even from this measly grounds of earth, the starlight could be felt. That last shout of victory, and the end of a history from the power of the warships that prevented the world’s end. The ark was lost… forever.
Riot Force 6… the military classification for them… along with some new fresh faces.
Even to me, it’s amusing how things can change so much in the short span of less than a month.
~~~
It was just about the time for the evening sessions of the tedious training sessions the Forwards are going through to end. They tire themselves through the training, each day stronger than the next, their fresh blood boiling out all the potential in store.
The sun was setting, as the chilling evening wind was setting upon the breeze of the western seas, probably far off the edges of Mid-childa’s continental. The soft, evening wind coming with the sun’s retirement was crisp and refreshing.
That’s normally the case for Hayate, but for the past few days…
“Mmm….huh~!!”
Hayate stretched herself as she puffed out the last breathe inside her, falling face first down to the table, hugging the hard, solid yet comfortable meta-steel table.
“Man, I’m beat.”
She felt so tired she could eat a raccoon and a reindeer and sleep the whole day through, but that would be unsightly as RF6’s captain, not that she would actually do it… though she found herself enticed by the soft scent of a nice coffee…
“Tired, Hayate-chan?”
She didn’t even realize Fate coming in with a cup of coffee at hand. She quickly popped herself back, looking like a reasonably professional leader, though Fate only smiled at her quirk. Taking the cup of coffee into her hand, she sipped in.
“Yeah… with the recent events, there had been a lot of things going on. Restructuring on the administration, restoration of damaged sectors, announcement to the public, media control… with RF6 being the center of the most recent events, there’s a lot of paperwork to handle and people to meet. One would’ve thought things be easier, but on the other hand…”
“Sounds like you had it tough.”
“Considering that Shamal’s been forced to help out with injuries over at Mid-childa Medical City over the injuries suffered throughout the incident, (( a medical sector of Cranagan, not an actual city )), Ginga and Subaru both having to work over-time beyond their normal duties of structural cleaning and restoration, Shari and Mariel having to go in-and-out HQ to restore the programming database among many other things, I’ve hardly got any grounds for complaint. It’s getting under-staffed in here.” Hayate pouted slightly.
Hayate looked up upon one of the stacked papers on her desk, and she glanced through…
“Well, it’s not all that bad. It seems there are multiple interests for our rookies from various departments, some even so far asking for their performance records, and there are talks behind that Nanoha-chan might be getting a promotion. Your work is being highly credited as well.” Fate blushed slightly.
“So, how are things going on your side? You’ve busied yourself the past week ever since the incident, from the cave to the court.”
Hayate was referring to the post-arrest proceedings of the Jail Scaglietti Incident. Despite having him arrested and dealt with, it was a most controversial issue. The number of lives taken during his bravado was close to zero, and a lot of his ‘crimes’ before the incident had direct links to TSAB’s underground left-wing movements. What to tell the public, how to handle the intricate matters of the case… some may say that it is an even tougher battle there. Fate only sighed, as she said…
“Opinions were divided among the TSAB inquiry brass, with the revelation that Jail was connected to Regius and the TSAB High Council, leading to a problematic assessment of his previous crimes, which may or may not be connected to TSAB itself. Basically, it was a cesspool of confusion. None knew what to truly do. There were some who even proposed that he be proposed a special ruling in which his crimes would be removed under the condition he served TSAB with his knowledge under complete supervision among other things. He didn’t accept though.”
Fate recalled what Jail said at the hearing…
”You do not deserve to inquire me with your standards.”
He heeded nothing else, he just spoke a simple sentence full of arrogance before he derided further with talks of prophecies and Al-hazard… some which made sense, some completely nonsensical.
“Some of the ones whom he had working for him stayed with him till the end, refusing to cooperate, knowing their choices is the final cut of their freedom.”
As the full verdict of the case will probably never completely materialize, this means that they’ll be prisoned indefinitely in the off-world interdimensional first-class prison. They were not ignorant about it. Fate told them what was to become of them before the hearing. Uno, Tre, Quattro and Sette accepted that much, out of pride and loyalty.
“The verdict on everyone else was reasonable, though Lutecia-chan’s…”
Hayate and Fate silenced themselves. Quint and Lutecia Alpino… to the TSAB’s Board, them being a part of the High Council’s link to the Artificial Mage project long outlawed, they were a thorn that placed the system in fear. They needed a cover-up, yet they could not dispose of them. Exile was the only option available, and there were no hearings, just a piece of paper that decided that they are to be exiled into a far-off world.
“There are things that are beyond what we can do, Fate-chan. We can only do the best we can, placing our lives on the line for the sake of others.”
The cups of coffee felt cold now; as they both looked out the window… it was just a week after the incident. The victory belonged to them, but it was not the end of things, nor was everything perfect. It was just a first step to things… There is still a world of turbulence ahead of them.
Even if they’re living their dreams… the end is still far.
Some things didn't work out like I wanted, so there might be changes.
So nothing much happens here asides from the usual EPICNESS that Nighty brings even in these kinds of introspective stories. Aaah it has been missed indeed
This chapter seems like a prelude or prologue to a much larger story, so I'll see how it sets up
Spoiler for LONG:
OVERALL COMBAT CAPABILTY ASSESSMENT:
Aurion’s vast experience and knowledge of magic and combat strategy makes him a foe to be feared. He doesn’t so much as overwhelm opponents by sheer force, but he doesn’t rely solely on tactics either. His preferred style involves tactical use of his own capabilities and the surroundings as setup, particularly his illusions and binds. He then strikes with unusually powerful focused attacks, which is how he compensates for his relative lack of magical stamina. In short, the focus of his style is versatility rather than focusing in anything in particular. But the fact that he has already specialized in some fields before jumping to versatility gives him some unfair specialization in some areas. The following is a rundown of his capabilities per category.
Range Attack:
As a once-standard Mage of the TSAB, he is naturally a more range-oriented attacker. If one were to compare him to someone like Nanoha, he strikes with smaller, concentrated energy projectiles in contrast to the extremely high-power shots of the Ace of Aces. His spellcasting speed is undoubtedly good, augmented further by his device, Reishiki. It’s rare to see any spell that takes more than a few seconds fro him to cast. His degree of control over his shots is phenomenal, higher than even that of Nanoha’s or Keroko's; owing to his unique Magical Field Manipulation skill. His accuracy in shooting is also top-tier, but he is more oriented for in-field shooting as opposed to sniping from extreme distances. He is an overall very proficient range-attacker; with several years amount of experience and precision behind his each and every shot.
Melee Attack:
He is by no means a melee-combat specialist. However, he has a good amount of ability in hand-to-hand combat stemming from his training under Instructor Austin Abrams of the Air Division during his youth. His strikes are powerful enough by non-knight standards, but he more often than not augments his own strikes with magic such as Break Impulse for particularly devastating results. He has about eight years of swordsmanship training to be able to use his first miscellaneous device properly; VKA-01, a double-edge broadsword that he wields one-handedly. He started doing so in order to have a better feel of the Neo-Belkan System research in which he heavily participated in. However, the most fearsome part about his capabilities in close ranges is his left prosthetic arm/device, Reishiki. Aside from taking the form of a robotic arm, it also possesses a frighteningly monstrous amount of physical strength inherent in robotic appendages. He can go as far as crushing bones that are unprotected just by his grip. And going along those lines, his strikes are incredibly powerful when he uses melee weapons (whether makeshift or not) left-handed. All of these give him a definitive edge over most Mages in close-quarters combat. Of course, full-fledged Knights such as Signum and melee-specialist Mages like Fate naturally surpass him melee-wise in terms of skill, nonetheless.
Physical Defense:
Aurion is no Knight, and is naturally more reliant in magical shielding due to being a Mage. However, he WAS trained under Austin Abrams after all, an instructor who advocated for top physical and mental form for mages. Despite having retired active military service, he maintains a good physical training system to keep himself fit for battle reminiscent to that of Abrams’ methods (of course, on several degrees lower, since Abrams is a definitive monster in physical form) Due to this, his physique is in good condition, and can take a good amount of physical punishment.
Magical Defense:
His magical defenses are, strictly speaking, solid. He knows several types of barriers, shields, and other types of defenses from both Mid-Childan and Neo-Belkan systems; actually creating a couple of unique and powerful defense spells of his own. However, as good as his defenses are, he prefers to dodge over blocking attacks since he has far less energy compared to the likes of the Aces. Naturally, highly-intensive magical defense-use is very taxing on the magical stamina of a mage, even in consideration with his Magical Field Manipulation ability. In short, he has good defenses but doesn’t have the stamina to play tank for long.
Tactical/Support Abilities:
His plethora of spells also includes support skills. However, one wouldn’t help but notice that almost all of them save for the single basic healing sell are all combat-oriented instead of purely support skills. Despite his proficiency with magic in general, his orientation is primarily more on the offensive side. His best area in tactical spells… and arguably his best area in magic altogether (even higher than his range-attack skills), is his prowess in Illusion magic. His proficiency in mirages, disguise, invisibility and even overlapping illusions has always been his best area since he was an Enforcer; and it actually remains so up to now. He likes to spend more of his magical energy in his illusions than in attacks or defenses, granting him several ways of defeating enemies without spending too much energy in more stamina-consuming attacks. He has a surprisingly large amount of known Restriction/Bind spells; which has been made a subject of some jokes on some occasions. He knows how, and is not afraid to play dirty as well, which is an asset with some harder dealings in the field.
Mana Capacity:
Arguably his worst area as a mage aside from pure support spells, his magic capacity count only amounts to 623,000 units, lower than half of either Takamachi Nanoha’s (1,270,000) and Fate T. Harlaown’s (1,430,000) latent magical stamina. While still quite an honestly respectable amount, this limitation prompts him to focus on more low-power and smaller, concentrated spells over any kind of big magical attacks.
Speed and Agility:
His speed and agility are overall decent, but not much when compared to the ranks of Fate, Keroko and other speed/maneuverability-specialists. He still would need separate spells to be able to do quick moves at par with those mentioned since his natural speed won’t compare too well.
Tactical Ability:
While not an outright tactical genius, Aurion is actually on par with those like Tesla in tactical ability. (Amusingly, though Tesla should be faring better than she does right now in her and Aurion’s competitive scores, Aurion retains a strong lead since their little competitions can sometimes range from normal games of strategy to those of individual mind games, where he excels.) But, instead of only prowess in tactical theory, his strong point is in tactical innovation; which sometimes borders on the silly side of things, but oddly enough, works wonders on some occasions.
Hopefully, it'll come thru as acceptable. I lowered his stamina further and batted off some more unacceptable capabilities. And I also made sure to properly cite the limitations of each aspect. So, how is it?
How is it? It's BRILLIANT, as expected, covers all of the relevant points, and truly puts Aurion at the top of his game
Although this line I think sums up Aurion's entire style for me:
"is not afraid to play dirty as well"
Especially in regards to binds
Administered World 52
The planet was beautiful, a spot of light in the blackness of space. The human population of the planet were akin to elves in their reverence of their world, expanding slowly and with as little damage to the planet's lush ecosystem as possible. They never developed weapons or fossil fuels to harm the planet; instead, the natives were so atuned to their own Linker Cores that they completely skipped that phase of life, and solely relied on a crude form of magitech to run things until the TSAB showed up and helped to advance them and administer them. The only sore spot on the planet was the TSAB facilities in one of the more barren regions, as per the request of the natives.
Keroko G. Takamachi had no time to take in the scenery of the planet. As beautiful as the blue-green marble looked from space, she had a mission to conduct. It was, of all things, a hunt. A hunt for a dangerous monster. As she flew over the tall trees of one of the many forests on this planet, she wondered not for the first time why the hell they needed an Enforcer First Class to deal with a problem like a roving beast. It couldn't be that bad. Could it?
Keroko shook her head clear of her thoughts and resumed scanning the forests. She had been told the monster in question was at least two meters tall and estimated to be "at least" one-hundred fifty kilograms. It had the ability to shoot hundreds of "spines" at people, and had so far caused a surprising amount of deaths: up to fifty at last count. Worse yet, the monster seemed to be escorted by a pack of "vicious dogs" that were causing deaths in their own right; so far, fifteen disappearances had been caused thanks to the "dogs", totaling up to sixty-five.
It was almost disgraceful if it wasn't tragic. Of those sixty-five, about half of which were civilians, and the other half were the search and destroy security forces. When those turned up dead or missing, they called in the Enforcers. The Enforcers thus, sent Keroko, leading up to why she was here, flying over a forest, chasing monsters she couldn't see.
As the Aspect Mage scanned the forest for any unusual sightings, her thoughts inevitably swung back to her sister. Though they had been staying in contact, Keroko's missions, like Fate's, were inevitably keeping her farther from home for longer periods of time. This mission was her closest in five years, and World 52 wasn't even near the Core Worlds. She was aware of Nanoha's slow downward spiral and wanted to be there to help her - everyone could see the drastic effect it was having on Vivio, even if the teenager couldn't see it herself - but being light-years away was making it nearly impossible.
If only there was a way I could do something from here... she thought.
Her train of thought was suddenly derailed, however, when a sudden stench filled the air. The smell was so awful that Keroko felt like she flew into a brick wall. Covering her nose and mouth and coughing violently, the Enforcer literally slammed to a halt, wildly searching for the source so she could promptly blast it out into the stratosphere. Her eyes laid upon what appeared to be a giant mass of green fungus, protruding out of the forest like a cancer. That's... not natural... she thought to herself through a haze of disgust.
A thought occurred to her that maybe this was where those creatures were - call it bad luck or women's intuition. Landing within the forest, Keroko activated Artherion and began to sneak up to the fungi formation, ducking behind trees everytime she heard movement that wasn't her own. In this forest, she was limited; though landing wasn't a problem, taking off would be much more difficult, though if worse came to worst she could simply blast a hole in the "ceiling" before taking off.
As the Enforcer slowly moved her way to the formation, she switched her Device to Firing Mode and hoped that she could snipe whatever she could see. Holding the base of the staff to her right shoulder and raising the Device with both hands, she wielded the weapon as a rifle, using the device to create for her a mental crosshair. Stalking through the forests wasn't much of a problem, but the lack of other forms of mobility was. Keroko was getting paranoid as she stomached the smell and closed in on the mass of fungus and seeing, surprisingly, that a tunnel had been bore into it. Not only that, but a small clearing surrounded it, as if the ground around the mass had died.
Keroko lowered the Device, confused, as she walked into the clearing. What the hell?
A screech of what sounded like a mix between a cat and hawk suddenly came out of nowhere. Keroko turned around to see a mass of brown and green flesh leap on to her and knock her to the ground. The thing ripped into her Barrier Jacket and into the soft flesh underneath. Keroko sucked it up and raised Artherion above her head, bringing it down on the whatever it was that tried to kill her. The creature caved under the pressure, dying instantly.
Keroko stood up slowly, clutching her stomach in pain as she looked down at the monster that had just attacked her. Other than the fact she had severed the thing's spine in two, the creature looked like a thing from a monster movie. It was small, no more than two or three feet tall, and seemed to run on four long, spiny legs. Two more - the ones it had used to cut open Keroko's Barrier Jacket - were situated on the back, ending in long, cruel scythes, almost ridiculously large considering the size of its body.
Blood seeped from between the Aspect Mage's fingers. The damage wasn't fatal, but she would be damned if it didn't hurt. And when there's one... She looked up to see five more of the small monsters hop out on all fours, sniffing around and hissing at her. Well... that's not too ba... oh hell.
A monstrous thing slithered out of the forest, everything eyewitnesses saw and more. Its scythe-like arms were twice the length of Artherion and probably twice as sharp. On its sides, flaps on the carapace opened up to reveal hundreds of spines as it twisted its massive head toward Keroko and hissed.
Keroko, on instict, raised a force field. The monster answered by firing a hundred spines at her. The spines covered the distance between the two in the blink of an eye, slamming into the force field and nearly breaking through, such was their speed. The force of the impact embedded the spines in the field, giving Keroko a good look at them; 15 centimeters long, spiked, and dripping with a murky black substance. She didn't like the look of that at all.
Staring through her barrier, Keroko watched as the monster lifted the flaps again to reveal more spines.
Time to go!
Keroko dropped the forcefield and leaped into the air as the monster fired, sending a burst of spines just under her feet. The monster fired a few more times, but Keroko was fast enough to evade (though just barely). Shoving aside the pain she was feeling, Keroko went on the offensive. "Let's go, Artherion!"
[Yes, sir! Blast Lancer!] A spiral of magic beams emanated from Keroko's outstretched palm, expanding and twisting around each other as she mentally commanded the beams to target each of her opponents, and sent them slamming into her opponents. The explosions kicked up bursts of clouds and heat, obscuring her vision and causing her to fly back some. Pointing Artherion at the dust cloud, Keroko waited for anything to come out of it.
Sure enough, two of the smaller creatures came out of the dust, covered by a spine burst sent directly at Keroko. The mage barely dodged in time, the ends of her Jacket caught by a few of the spines and tearing it to shreds. The momentum of the spines forced her into a spin, loosening flight control and and essentially causing Keroko to "stall" for a few moments, sending her plummeting to the ground. Recovering from the stall just millimeters from the ground, Keroko lifted her Device just as it shouted [Forcefield!], lifting a barrier as the surviving smaller creatures attacked, digging their claws into the magical barrier as if it were solid before leaping off, just as the larger monster shot another salvo of spines.
Keroko dropped the field and activated Drive Move, leaping straight into the air and regaining her so-called "high ground". Conjuring her magic circle, Keroko locked on the two smaller creatures several times, and the larger one even more. Holding her Device high above her head, she and Artherion simultaneously shouted "Blast Lancer!"; sending another burst of spiraling red energy beams at her opponents. The beams homed in and completely wiped out the two smaller monsters, leaving smoking craters. The third one surprised Keroko by slamming its carapace shut and bowing its head, allowing the beams to slam into it head-on.
More dust clouds were kicked up, and Keroko raised another Forcefield as a precautionary measure. Sure enough, another salvo of spines slammed in to her, these numerous enough to shatter the field and forcing her to dodge. Twisting in midair, Keroko watched, eyes wide and as if in slow motion, as several of the spines flew just by her vision, spinning slowly.
Using her momentum, the Aspect Mage twirled the ID overhead and stopped standing sideways, pointing the weapon down at the monster. "Okay, so you can survive that," she muttered as magic energy began to collect between the two prongs, jumping between the two as if electrified. Keroko fired a cartridge, boosting her magic power significantly as she locked on to the monster, which "reloaded" and raised its carapace again. "Don't think so; Ion Blaster!" Both fighters fired at the same time; a bright red beam sailed from Keroko and hit true as spines shot up toward the mage, most vaporized in the process. The monster screeched in pain as the ion beam vaporized it to mere dust particles, and Keroko herself had to stop from screaming as a few of the surviving spines impacted dead-on. Her Barrier Jacket seemed useless as the spines tore through it like it wasn't there, digging into and through her; one spine went in her shoulder from the side and exited the top, splattering blood all over her face.
Keroko dropped Artherion on reflex, disrupting the spell despite the damage already being done. Clutching her shoulder in pain, the mage lowered herself to the ground as she fought off shock and tried to stem the blood loss. She hit the ground with a thud, kicking up a small cloud of dust. Keroko collapsed and rolled on to her side, coughing up a small amount of blood. "D-damnit... that hurt... Where's Scrya when you need him?"
[Sir, I have fifteen contacts coming from the inside of the bio-mass.]Artherion announced as the mage reached over and grabbed him. [They are advancing at a rapid rate. I suggest retreat.]
"No kiddin'," Keroko said as she used the staff to stand up. "Where are... oh..."
Fifteen shapes came out, each more gruesome than the last. They appeared to be human - or at least, once have been human. Instead of a normal shape, these things were hunched over and walked like a malformed hunchback, with one leg practically dragging the entire body. Huge lumps of flesh adorned the upper body; formerly human flesh just pushed aside. Many of them had intact heads, and one was intact enough for Keroko to recognize the face; it was one of the people who had gone missing. Or was. The fact that many of them had their chest cavities ripped open, with one of the smaller monsters seemingly attached to it and peering out from the opening, made it clear that these people weren't human.
"So that thing... was gonna try and control me, huh?" She asked herself. "It... They... infected... all of these people. But... how?"
One of the former-humans leaped into the air, lifting a monstrous malformed arm that resembled a spiked club. The Aspect Mage didn't even have to ask if it was trying to be hostile. As it flew through the air over its comrades, Keroko lifted Artherion weakly and fired two cartridges.
"Kill them all," she droned as unconsciousness treatened to take her.
[Yes, sir. Orbital Bombardment.]
There was a giant flash of red, followed by the sound of thunder.
Is Keroko fighting... ZERG?!?!?!
This fight is EPIC Though Keroko's last act reminds me of the Space Marines defeat in Dark Crusade
Currently working on Bridget and her involvement in Kha's Rebuilt- probably as a practical demonstration on Dei-Type magic... and maybe score a couple of Number kills as well...
Administrated World 52, Area 51
Operation Devilcore commenced for 5 mins
"We've seen tiberium, blight, creep, bluecheesium..." Taiyo poked the fungus-like goo that seemed to carpet every inch of terrain around the pod's landing site right up to the horizon. And some of the green gum clung to the blunt end of his long scythe. "But what in Seiou's name is this?"
"I think I know, and I don't like any bit of it." Gimmy snarked a reply, both tonfas in Revolver mode already at hand.
"Why don't you ask the welcoming party?" Foy said next, VF5 to his shoulder and laser-pointing from one creature to another as they emerged from the creepy goo. They as in humanoid creatures with really really bad plastic surgery done. And like Keroko had mentioned before ComOps lost contact with her, something clearly had busted out of their thorax. Even the silent Hiro stopped to gaze into the eye-like glints peeping from within the aliens.
Gimmy took one look then kicked his head back and groaned audibly. "Oh hell no, what are you guys doing here in a Yellow Zone?!"
The leader reared up for a resounding roar.
"EHK! WRONG ANSWER!"
A pistol shot from Gimmy's black Night cleaned the creature's clock for it midway, unleashing a ripple over the creatures as they all pounced together.
But as Grey Knights Cleric-knights, these guys were easy-pie.
"Yui Hiro, commencing backlog purification..."
Sorry Kagerou, I had to start off like this. Really great work you got there!
Let me put it this way: Marines, especially US Marines, are concentrated badass.
Enforcers.... not so.
Frankly, Marines are anathema to the TSAB's policy. COIN in Iraq to the contrary, you don't use Marines for soft operations, you use them to kick doors down, shoot crap, and kill people. (although Army officers are surprised and amazed at how good the Marines in Iraq are at COIN, which was never a part of Marine syllabus.)
...but if you want to make them, go right ahead. Just remember that they'll be viewed with much WTF since they're shock troops. (Also, Marines tend to emphasise speed over armor/firepower. Marines will drop armor and go for speed and firepower.) That means plenty of movement, supression fire...
When Kagerou and I reveal our version of the TSAB Marines, the TSAB will be screaming bloody murder, because the Marines are pissing all over the Air Force and Army.
Especially since TSAB Marines won't exist for quite a while.
Oh so they are gonna be a new force? I think that's really possible, especially after having a dramatic change of leadership.
Yes I chose Hurricane over Tornado if only because I could scale it using the ranking system the US Meteorology use for hurricanes.
Besides, Riot Zamber II is now called Tornado Zamber, as if Fate were to fully utilize this Zamber form, it being a pair of really cool sword-chucks made me realize Fate is gonna do lots of spinning, and Tornado fits perfectly.
~Blank of 6 Months I : Reflections~
~Isdera~
The night of 14 days ago, I saw my death before me. Just like the hundreds of times before. I felt then, for a short instance… what it was like to lose everything that held me together, engulfed in darkness as my blood gushed out from the thousands of cuts on me, my arms losing the grip of the hilt I’ve lived and died with… as that knight of spear stood before me.
But I had lived… just like that hundreds time as well. But this time, it was different.
I made a comrade… no, we found someone we could call a friend. He was not the first, and probably not the last… but to people like us, detached from this world, following our own code of life… it was enough.
Our only regret is probably not being able to oblige to his own wish and request… for the Flame of Swords, was not our strength, and General already had his own.
And 7 days… ago, this land was covered in the shadows of that ark.
The power wielded by the most powerful of Ancient Belka’s time in the continents beyond where we lived and struggled, those who manipulated the forms of life to go beyond human limits, seeking to create one’s world of their own.
He who desired to take the world into his hands and shape his own… for reasons no one knew, except himself.
Our blades were unsheathed, but it was still hidden under the ark’s shadow. We fought none that mattered, for ‘they’ were there.
Those who had saved the darkness of the night from her eternal pain. Even from this measly grounds of earth, the starlight could be felt. That last shout of victory, and the end of a history from the power of the warships that prevented the world’s end. The ark was lost… forever.
Riot Force 6… the military classification for them… along with some new fresh faces.
Even to me, it’s amusing how things can change so much in the short span of less than a month.
~~~
It was just about the time for the evening sessions of the tedious training sessions the Forwards are going through to end. They tire themselves through the training, each day stronger than the next, their fresh blood boiling out all the potential in store.
The sun was setting, as the chilling evening wind was setting upon the breeze of the western seas, probably far off the edges of Mid-childa’s continental. The soft, evening wind coming with the sun’s retirement was crisp and refreshing.
That’s normally the case for Hayate, but for the past few days…
“Mmm….huh~!!”
Hayate stretched herself as she puffed out the last breathe inside her, falling face first down to the table, hugging the hard, solid yet comfortable meta-steel table.
“Man, I’m beat.”
She felt so tired she could eat a raccoon and a reindeer and sleep the whole day through, but that would be unsightly as RF6’s captain, not that she would actually do it… though she found herself enticed by the soft scent of a nice coffee…
“Tired, Hayate-chan?”
She didn’t even realize Fate coming in with a cup of coffee at hand. She quickly popped herself back, looking like a reasonably professional leader, though Fate only smiled at her quirk. Taking the cup of coffee into her hand, she sipped in.
“Yeah… with the recent events, there had been a lot of things going on. Restructuring on the administration, restoration of damaged sectors, announcement to the public, media control… with RF6 being the center of the most recent events, there’s a lot of paperwork to handle and people to meet. One would’ve thought things be easier, but on the other hand…”
“Sounds like you had it tough.”
“Considering that Shamal’s been forced to help out with injuries over at Mid-childa Medical City over the injuries suffered throughout the incident, (( a medical sector of Cranagan, not an actual city )), Ginga and Subaru both having to work over-time beyond their normal duties of structural cleaning and restoration, Shari and Mariel having to go in-and-out HQ to restore the programming database among many other things, I’ve hardly got any grounds for complaint. It’s getting under-staffed in here.” Hayate pouted slightly.
Hayate looked up upon one of the stacked papers on her desk, and she glanced through…
“Well, it’s not all that bad. It seems there are multiple interests for our rookies from various departments, some even so far asking for their performance records, and there are talks behind that Nanoha-chan might be getting a promotion. Your work is being highly credited as well.” Fate blushed slightly.
“So, how are things going on your side? You’ve busied yourself the past week ever since the incident, from the cave to the court.”
Hayate was referring to the post-arrest proceedings of the Jail Scaglietti Incident. Despite having him arrested and dealt with, it was a most controversial issue. The number of lives taken during his bravado was close to zero, and a lot of his ‘crimes’ before the incident had direct links to TSAB’s underground left-wing movements. What to tell the public, how to handle the intricate matters of the case… some may say that it is an even tougher battle there. Fate only sighed, as she said…
“Opinions were divided among the TSAB inquiry brass, with the revelation that Jail was connected to Regius and the TSAB High Council, leading to a problematic assessment of his previous crimes, which may or may not be connected to TSAB itself. Basically, it was a cesspool of confusion. None knew what to truly do. There were some who even proposed that he be proposed a special ruling in which his crimes would be removed under the condition he served TSAB with his knowledge under complete supervision among other things. He didn’t accept though.”
Fate recalled what Jail said at the hearing…
”You do not deserve to inquire me with your standards.”
He heeded nothing else, he just spoke a simple sentence full of arrogance before he derided further with talks of prophecies and Al-hazard… some which made sense, some completely nonsensical.
“Some of the ones whom he had working for him stayed with him till the end, refusing to cooperate, knowing their choices is the final cut of their freedom.”
As the full verdict of the case will probably never completely materialize, this means that they’ll be prisoned indefinitely in the off-world interdimensional first-class prison. They were not ignorant about it. Fate told them what was to become of them before the hearing. Uno, Tre, Quattro and Sette accepted that much, out of pride and loyalty.
“The verdict on everyone else was reasonable, though Lutecia-chan’s…”
Hayate and Fate silenced themselves. Quint and Lutecia Alpino… to the TSAB’s Board, them being a part of the High Council’s link to the Artificial Mage project long outlawed, they were a thorn that placed the system in fear. They needed a cover-up, yet they could not dispose of them. Exile was the only option available, and there were no hearings, just a piece of paper that decided that they are to be exiled into a far-off world.
“There are things that are beyond what we can do, Fate-chan. We can only do the best we can, placing our lives on the line for the sake of others.”
The cups of coffee felt cold now; as they both looked out the window… it was just a week after the incident. The victory belonged to them, but it was not the end of things, nor was everything perfect. It was just a first step to things… There is still a world of turbulence ahead of them.
Even if they’re living their dreams… the end is still far.
Some things didn't work out like I wanted, so there might be changes.
It's still good, and I like how things fit in better than I could've ever done. I forgot that Megane had to be exiled, and I still dunno why... until now.

Going along the lines of HAXX that is not HAXX, I present you....
Spoiler for LONG:
OVERALL COMBAT CAPABILTY ASSESSMENT:
Aurion’s vast experience and knowledge of magic and combat strategy makes him a foe to be feared. He doesn’t so much as overwhelm opponents by sheer force, but he doesn’t rely solely on tactics either. His preferred style involves tactical use of his own capabilities and the surroundings as setup, particularly his illusions and binds. He then strikes with unusually powerful focused attacks, which is how he compensates for his relative lack of magical stamina. In short, the focus of his style is versatility rather than focusing in anything in particular. But the fact that he has already specialized in some fields before jumping to versatility gives him some unfair specialization in some areas. The following is a rundown of his capabilities per category.
Range Attack:
As a once-standard Mage of the TSAB, he is naturally a more range-oriented attacker. If one were to compare him to someone like Nanoha, he strikes with smaller, concentrated energy projectiles in contrast to the extremely high-power shots of the Ace of Aces. His spellcasting speed is undoubtedly good, augmented further by his device, Reishiki. It’s rare to see any spell that takes more than a few seconds fro him to cast. His degree of control over his shots is phenomenal, higher than even that of Nanoha’s or Keroko's; owing to his unique Magical Field Manipulation skill. His accuracy in shooting is also top-tier, but he is more oriented for in-field shooting as opposed to sniping from extreme distances. He is an overall very proficient range-attacker; with several years amount of experience and precision behind his each and every shot.
Melee Attack:
He is by no means a melee-combat specialist. However, he has a good amount of ability in hand-to-hand combat stemming from his training under Instructor Austin Abrams of the Air Division during his youth. His strikes are powerful enough by non-knight standards, but he more often than not augments his own strikes with magic such as Break Impulse for particularly devastating results. He has about eight years of swordsmanship training to be able to use his first miscellaneous device properly; VKA-01, a double-edge broadsword that he wields one-handedly. He started doing so in order to have a better feel of the Neo-Belkan System research in which he heavily participated in. However, the most fearsome part about his capabilities in close ranges is his left prosthetic arm/device, Reishiki. Aside from taking the form of a robotic arm, it also possesses a frighteningly monstrous amount of physical strength inherent in robotic appendages. He can go as far as crushing bones that are unprotected just by his grip. And going along those lines, his strikes are incredibly powerful when he uses melee weapons (whether makeshift or not) left-handed. All of these give him a definitive edge over most Mages in close-quarters combat. Of course, full-fledged Knights such as Signum and melee-specialist Mages like Fate naturally surpass him melee-wise in terms of skill, nonetheless.
Physical Defense:
Aurion is no Knight, and is naturally more reliant in magical shielding due to being a Mage. However, he WAS trained under Austin Abrams after all, an instructor who advocated for top physical and mental form for mages. Despite having retired active military service, he maintains a good physical training system to keep himself fit for battle reminiscent to that of Abrams’ methods (of course, on several degrees lower, since Abrams is a definitive monster in physical form) Due to this, his physique is in good condition, and can take a good amount of physical punishment.
Magical Defense:
His magical defenses are, strictly speaking, solid. He knows several types of barriers, shields, and other types of defenses from both Mid-Childan and Neo-Belkan systems; actually creating a couple of unique and powerful defense spells of his own. However, as good as his defenses are, he prefers to dodge over blocking attacks since he has far less energy compared to the likes of the Aces. Naturally, highly-intensive magical defense-use is very taxing on the magical stamina of a mage, even in consideration with his Magical Field Manipulation ability. In short, he has good defenses but doesn’t have the stamina to play tank for long.
Tactical/Support Abilities:
His plethora of spells also includes support skills. However, one wouldn’t help but notice that almost all of them save for the single basic healing sell are all combat-oriented instead of purely support skills. Despite his proficiency with magic in general, his orientation is primarily more on the offensive side. His best area in tactical spells… and arguably his best area in magic altogether (even higher than his range-attack skills), is his prowess in Illusion magic. His proficiency in mirages, disguise, invisibility and even overlapping illusions has always been his best area since he was an Enforcer; and it actually remains so up to now. He likes to spend more of his magical energy in his illusions than in attacks or defenses, granting him several ways of defeating enemies without spending too much energy in more stamina-consuming attacks. He has a surprisingly large amount of known Restriction/Bind spells; which has been made a subject of some jokes on some occasions. He knows how, and is not afraid to play dirty as well, which is an asset with some harder dealings in the field.
Mana Capacity:
Arguably his worst area as a mage aside from pure support spells, his magic capacity count only amounts to 623,000 units, lower than half of either Takamachi Nanoha’s (1,270,000) and Fate T. Harlaown’s (1,430,000) latent magical stamina. While still quite an honestly respectable amount, this limitation prompts him to focus on more low-power and smaller, concentrated spells over any kind of big magical attacks.
Speed and Agility:
His speed and agility are overall decent, but not much when compared to the ranks of Fate, Keroko and other speed/maneuverability-specialists. He still would need separate spells to be able to do quick moves at par with those mentioned since his natural speed won’t compare too well.
Tactical Ability:
While not an outright tactical genius, Aurion is actually on par with those like Tesla in tactical ability. (Amusingly, though Tesla should be faring better than she does right now in her and Aurion’s competitive scores, Aurion retains a strong lead since their little competitions can sometimes range from normal games of strategy to those of individual mind games, where he excels.) But, instead of only prowess in tactical theory, his strong point is in tactical innovation; which sometimes borders on the silly side of things, but oddly enough, works wonders on some occasions.
Hopefully, it'll come thru as acceptable. I lowered his stamina further and batted off some more unacceptable capabilities. And I also made sure to properly cite the limitations of each aspect. So, how is it?
Whiffy.

RADIO EDIT: Finished Scene V. Keroko's introduction and pwnage/pwnd. Hope you all enjoy (insert obligatory question to Keroko-kun here if I got her character right).
Spoiler for Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Alpha, Scene V:
Administered World 52
The planet was beautiful, a spot of light in the blackness of space. The human population of the planet were akin to elves in their reverence of their world, expanding slowly and with as little damage to the planet's lush ecosystem as possible. They never developed weapons or fossil fuels to harm the planet; instead, the natives were so atuned to their own Linker Cores that they completely skipped that phase of life, and solely relied on a crude form of magitech to run things until the TSAB showed up and helped to advance them and administer them. The only sore spot on the planet was the TSAB facilities in one of the more barren regions, as per the request of the natives.
Keroko G. Takamachi had no time to take in the scenery of the planet. As beautiful as the blue-green marble looked from space, she had a mission to conduct. It was, of all things, a hunt. A hunt for a dangerous monster. As she flew over the tall trees of one of the many forests on this planet, she wondered not for the first time why the hell they needed an Enforcer First Class to deal with a problem like a roving beast. It couldn't be that bad. Could it?
Keroko shook her head clear of her thoughts and resumed scanning the forests. She had been told the monster in question was at least two meters tall and estimated to be "at least" one-hundred fifty kilograms. It had the ability to shoot hundreds of "spines" at people, and had so far caused a surprising amount of deaths: up to fifty at last count. Worse yet, the monster seemed to be escorted by a pack of "vicious dogs" that were causing deaths in their own right; so far, fifteen disappearances had been caused thanks to the "dogs", totaling up to sixty-five.
It was almost disgraceful if it wasn't tragic. Of those sixty-five, about half of which were civilians, and the other half were the search and destroy security forces. When those turned up dead or missing, they called in the Enforcers. The Enforcers thus, sent Keroko, leading up to why she was here, flying over a forest, chasing monsters she couldn't see.
As the Aspect Mage scanned the forest for any unusual sightings, her thoughts inevitably swung back to her sister. Though they had been staying in contact, Keroko's missions, like Fate's, were inevitably keeping her farther from home for longer periods of time. This mission was her closest in five years, and World 52 wasn't even near the Core Worlds. She was aware of Nanoha's slow downward spiral and wanted to be there to help her - everyone could see the drastic effect it was having on Vivio, even if the teenager couldn't see it herself - but being light-years away was making it nearly impossible.
If only there was a way I could do something from here... she thought.
Her train of thought was suddenly derailed, however, when a sudden stench filled the air. The smell was so awful that Keroko felt like she flew into a brick wall. Covering her nose and mouth and coughing violently, the Enforcer literally slammed to a halt, wildly searching for the source so she could promptly blast it out into the stratosphere. Her eyes laid upon what appeared to be a giant mass of green fungus, protruding out of the forest like a cancer. That's... not natural... she thought to herself through a haze of disgust.
A thought occurred to her that maybe this was where those creatures were - call it bad luck or women's intuition. Landing within the forest, Keroko activated Artherion and began to sneak up to the fungi formation, ducking behind trees everytime she heard movement that wasn't her own. In this forest, she was limited; though landing wasn't a problem, taking off would be much more difficult, though if worse came to worst she could simply blast a hole in the "ceiling" before taking off.
As the Enforcer slowly moved her way to the formation, she switched her Device to Firing Mode and hoped that she could snipe whatever she could see. Holding the base of the staff to her right shoulder and raising the Device with both hands, she wielded the weapon as a rifle, using the device to create for her a mental crosshair. Stalking through the forests wasn't much of a problem, but the lack of other forms of mobility was. Keroko was getting paranoid as she stomached the smell and closed in on the mass of fungus and seeing, surprisingly, that a tunnel had been bore into it. Not only that, but a small clearing surrounded it, as if the ground around the mass had died.
Keroko lowered the Device, confused, as she walked into the clearing. What the hell?
A screech of what sounded like a mix between a cat and hawk suddenly came out of nowhere. Keroko turned around to see a mass of brown and green flesh leap on to her and knock her to the ground. The thing ripped into her Barrier Jacket and into the soft flesh underneath. Keroko sucked it up and raised Artherion above her head, bringing it down on the whatever it was that tried to kill her. The creature caved under the pressure, dying instantly.
Keroko stood up slowly, clutching her stomach in pain as she looked down at the monster that had just attacked her. Other than the fact she had severed the thing's spine in two, the creature looked like a thing from a monster movie. It was small, no more than two or three feet tall, and seemed to run on four long, spiny legs. Two more - the ones it had used to cut open Keroko's Barrier Jacket - were situated on the back, ending in long, cruel scythes, almost ridiculously large considering the size of its body.
Blood seeped from between the Aspect Mage's fingers. The damage wasn't fatal, but she would be damned if it didn't hurt. And when there's one... She looked up to see five more of the small monsters hop out on all fours, sniffing around and hissing at her. Well... that's not too ba... oh hell.
A monstrous thing slithered out of the forest, everything eyewitnesses saw and more. Its scythe-like arms were twice the length of Artherion and probably twice as sharp. On its sides, flaps on the carapace opened up to reveal hundreds of spines as it twisted its massive head toward Keroko and hissed.
Keroko, on instict, raised a force field. The monster answered by firing a hundred spines at her. The spines covered the distance between the two in the blink of an eye, slamming into the force field and nearly breaking through, such was their speed. The force of the impact embedded the spines in the field, giving Keroko a good look at them; 15 centimeters long, spiked, and dripping with a murky black substance. She didn't like the look of that at all.
Staring through her barrier, Keroko watched as the monster lifted the flaps again to reveal more spines.
Time to go!
Keroko dropped the forcefield and leaped into the air as the monster fired, sending a burst of spines just under her feet. The monster fired a few more times, but Keroko was fast enough to evade (though just barely). Shoving aside the pain she was feeling, Keroko went on the offensive. "Let's go, Artherion!"
[Yes, sir! Blast Lancer!] A spiral of magic beams emanated from Keroko's outstretched palm, expanding and twisting around each other as she mentally commanded the beams to target each of her opponents, and sent them slamming into her opponents. The explosions kicked up bursts of clouds and heat, obscuring her vision and causing her to fly back some. Pointing Artherion at the dust cloud, Keroko waited for anything to come out of it.
Sure enough, two of the smaller creatures came out of the dust, covered by a spine burst sent directly at Keroko. The mage barely dodged in time, the ends of her Jacket caught by a few of the spines and tearing it to shreds. The momentum of the spines forced her into a spin, loosening flight control and and essentially causing Keroko to "stall" for a few moments, sending her plummeting to the ground. Recovering from the stall just millimeters from the ground, Keroko lifted her Device just as it shouted [Forcefield!], lifting a barrier as the surviving smaller creatures attacked, digging their claws into the magical barrier as if it were solid before leaping off, just as the larger monster shot another salvo of spines.
Keroko dropped the field and activated Drive Move, leaping straight into the air and regaining her so-called "high ground". Conjuring her magic circle, Keroko locked on the two smaller creatures several times, and the larger one even more. Holding her Device high above her head, she and Artherion simultaneously shouted "Blast Lancer!"; sending another burst of spiraling red energy beams at her opponents. The beams homed in and completely wiped out the two smaller monsters, leaving smoking craters. The third one surprised Keroko by slamming its carapace shut and bowing its head, allowing the beams to slam into it head-on.
More dust clouds were kicked up, and Keroko raised another Forcefield as a precautionary measure. Sure enough, another salvo of spines slammed in to her, these numerous enough to shatter the field and forcing her to dodge. Twisting in midair, Keroko watched, eyes wide and as if in slow motion, as several of the spines flew just by her vision, spinning slowly.
Using her momentum, the Aspect Mage twirled the ID overhead and stopped standing sideways, pointing the weapon down at the monster. "Okay, so you can survive that," she muttered as magic energy began to collect between the two prongs, jumping between the two as if electrified. Keroko fired a cartridge, boosting her magic power significantly as she locked on to the monster, which "reloaded" and raised its carapace again. "Don't think so; Ion Blaster!" Both fighters fired at the same time; a bright red beam sailed from Keroko and hit true as spines shot up toward the mage, most vaporized in the process. The monster screeched in pain as the ion beam vaporized it to mere dust particles, and Keroko herself had to stop from screaming as a few of the surviving spines impacted dead-on. Her Barrier Jacket seemed useless as the spines tore through it like it wasn't there, digging into and through her; one spine went in her shoulder from the side and exited the top, splattering blood all over her face.
Keroko dropped Artherion on reflex, disrupting the spell despite the damage already being done. Clutching her shoulder in pain, the mage lowered herself to the ground as she fought off shock and tried to stem the blood loss. She hit the ground with a thud, kicking up a small cloud of dust. Keroko collapsed and rolled on to her side, coughing up a small amount of blood. "D-damnit... that hurt... Where's Scrya when you need him?"
[Sir, I have fifteen contacts coming from the inside of the bio-mass.]Artherion announced as the mage reached over and grabbed him. [They are advancing at a rapid rate. I suggest retreat.]
"No kiddin'," Keroko said as she used the staff to stand up. "Where are... oh..."
Fifteen shapes came out, each more gruesome than the last. They appeared to be human - or at least, once have been human. Instead of a normal shape, these things were hunched over and walked like a malformed hunchback, with one leg practically dragging the entire body. Huge lumps of flesh adorned the upper body; formerly human flesh just pushed aside. Many of them had intact heads, and one was intact enough for Keroko to recognize the face; it was one of the people who had gone missing. Or was. The fact that many of them had their chest cavities ripped open, with one of the smaller monsters seemingly attached to it and peering out from the opening, made it clear that these people weren't human.
"So that thing... was gonna try and control me, huh?" She asked herself. "It... They... infected... all of these people. But... how?"
One of the former-humans leaped into the air, lifting a monstrous malformed arm that resembled a spiked club. The Aspect Mage didn't even have to ask if it was trying to be hostile. As it flew through the air over its comrades, Keroko lifted Artherion weakly and fired two cartridges.
"Kill them all," she droned as unconsciousness treatened to take her.
[Yes, sir. Orbital Bombardment.]
There was a giant flash of red, followed by the sound of thunder.
Wow the awesome that has been appearing in this thread is just off the charts! I really felt for Keroko there, and even kicked off my own crack spinoff!
Thanks for the good work! I must measure up! ...
Somehow.
Working on Fate's profile now, will post the updates later.
What was the medical name for the temporary effect of a shockwave on a person's hearing and equalibrium?
The symptoms are temporary loss of hearing (asside from being able to hear your heartbeat), confusion, and dizzyness associated with having a massive rush of air slam down your inner ear.
Usually the kind of momentary side effect you'd get if you were dumb enough to stand next to an M1A1 Abrams without hearing protection when someone decided to fire it's 120 milimeter cannon.
EDIT:
Never Mind, Found it searching through hearing protection.
It is 'Tinnitus'.

~~~
It was just about the time for the evening sessions of the tedious training sessions the Forwards are going through to end. They tire themselves through the training, each day stronger than the next, their fresh blood boiling out all the potential in store.
The sun was setting, as the chilling evening wind was setting upon the breeze of the western seas, probably far off the edges of Mid-childa’s continental. The soft, evening wind coming with the sun’s retirement was crisp and refreshing.
That’s normally the case for Hayate, but for the past few days…
“Mmm….huh~!!”
Hayate stretched herself as she puffed out the last breathe inside her, falling face first down to the table, hugging the hard, solid yet comfortable meta-steel table.
“Man, I’m beat.”
She felt so tired she could eat a raccoon and a reindeer and sleep the whole day through, but that would be unsightly as RF6’s captain, not that she would actually do it… though she found herself enticed by the soft scent of a nice coffee…
“Tired, Hayate-chan?”
She didn’t even realize Fate coming in with a cup of coffee at hand. She quickly popped herself back, looking like a reasonably professional leader, though Fate only smiled at her quirk. Taking the cup of coffee into her hand, she sipped in.
“Yeah… with the recent events, there had been a lot of things going on. Restructuring on the administration, restoration of damaged sectors, announcement to the public, media control… with RF6 being the center of the most recent events, there’s a lot of paperwork to handle and people to meet. One would’ve thought things be easier, but on the other hand…”
“Sounds like you had it tough.”
“Considering that Shamal’s been forced to help out with injuries over at Mid-childa Medical City over the injuries suffered throughout the incident, (( a medical sector of Cranagan, not an actual city )), Ginga and Subaru both having to work over-time beyond their normal duties of structural cleaning and restoration, Shari and Mariel having to go in-and-out HQ to restore the programming database among many other things, I’ve hardly got any grounds for complaint. It’s getting under-staffed in here.” Hayate pouted slightly.
Hayate looked up upon one of the stacked papers on her desk, and she glanced through…
“Well, it’s not all that bad. It seems there are multiple interests for our rookies from various departments, some even so far asking for their performance records, and there are talks behind that Nanoha-chan might be getting a promotion. Your work is being highly credited as well.” Fate blushed slightly.
“So, how are things going on your side? You’ve busied yourself the past week ever since the incident, from the cave to the court.”
Hayate was referring to the post-arrest proceedings of the Jail Scaglietti Incident. Despite having him arrested and dealt with, it was a most controversial issue. The number of lives taken during his bravado was close to zero, and a lot of his ‘crimes’ before the incident had direct links to TSAB’s underground left-wing movements. What to tell the public, how to handle the intricate matters of the case… some may say that it is an even tougher battle there. Fate only sighed, as she said…
“Opinions were divided among the TSAB inquiry brass, with the revelation that Jail was connected to Regius and the TSAB High Council, leading to a problematic assessment of his previous crimes, which may or may not be connected to TSAB itself. Basically, it was a cesspool of confusion. None knew what to truly do. There were some who even proposed that he be proposed a special ruling in which his crimes would be removed under the condition he served TSAB with his knowledge under complete supervision among other things. He didn’t accept though.”
Fate recalled what Jail said at the hearing…
”You do not deserve to inquire me with your standards.”
He heeded nothing else, he just spoke a simple sentence full of arrogance before he derided further with talks of prophecies and Al-hazard… some which made sense, some completely nonsensical.
“Some of the ones whom he had working for him stayed with him till the end, refusing to cooperate, knowing their choices is the final cut of their freedom.”
As the full verdict of the case will probably never completely materialize, this means that they’ll be prisoned indefinitely in the off-world interdimensional first-class prison. They were not ignorant about it. Fate told them what was to become of them before the hearing. Uno, Tre, Quattro and Sette accepted that much, out of pride and loyalty.
“The verdict on everyone else was reasonable, though Lutecia-chan’s…”
Hayate and Fate silenced themselves. Quint and Lutecia Alpino… to the TSAB’s Board, them being a part of the High Council’s link to the Artificial Mage project long outlawed, they were a thorn that placed the system in fear. They needed a cover-up, yet they could not dispose of them. Exile was the only option available, and there were no hearings, just a piece of paper that decided that they are to be exiled into a far-off world.
“There are things that are beyond what we can do, Fate-chan. We can only do the best we can, placing our lives on the line for the sake of others.”
The cups of coffee felt cold now; as they both looked out the window… it was just a week after the incident. The victory belonged to them, but it was not the end of things, nor was everything perfect. It was just a first step to things… There is still a world of turbulence ahead of them.
Even if they’re living their dreams… the end is still far.
Some things didn't work out like I wanted, so there might be changes.
I think its called shell shock or auditory trauma. But I'm more sure of the latter bit more than the later one...
@Lowe: I believe though things were the Flood. I do hope Keroko is alright. The junior Knights don't show it, but they, as the best Daemonjaegers available at that time, were drop-podded in all at once, and that means Kha's (and me) really worried.
@Kagerou: Its just me running on inspired crack to kick off my backlog busting, so don't have to make changes to your continuum to accomodate the gray Knights' appearance.
@Erio: Er... No one knows for sure if Kha and Fate are married officially... yet.
- Dropped the entire shouts section, leaving out the skills that resemble other Zamber effects, and added these skills to be used with a Zamber blade:
Riot Slash - This strengthens Fate's swing, allowing her to deliver a clean slice through the midsection.
Riot Saber – Fate uses additional mana to enlarge the Riot Zamber into a larger katana-like blade. She then swings it, releasing what seems like a giant version of the ranged mode of Haken Saber.
Thunder Reversal – Fate performs a giant vertical strike from below the opponent and then performing a swift horizontal strike almost simultaneously, then finishes with a strike of lightning from above or from her hand for a good measure. This attack resembles Artei's Tsubame Gaeshi, but it is not know if Fate had consciously borrowed Artei's skill.
Sparkcleaver – Fate would perform a series of rapid slashes, before ending with a clean, vertical cut. It is Fate's variation of Saber's Mooncleaver attack.
- I am still debating the removal of Super Spiral Space GARlock Bardiche, if only for the finger pointing it does to Zone's existence. What do you guys think about this?
Okay, I've skipped ahead of my current chapter to start working on completing the dogfight from the begining.
This is exchange one, I call it the Wakeup Call.
Spoiler for We is awake nao?:
[SIR, DETECTING HIGH MASS CONTACT APPROACHING FROM HIGH ALTITUDE]
Bardiche was on the ball today, Nanoha and fate quickly readied their devices as they heard a low sonic boom emit from the high cirrus clouds above them.
Crash came out of super-cruise at ten thousand feet, noting the two aces were close together still a good three thousand feet below. He ferried his device to rifle mode and took aim.
"Unit One Engaging hostiles," he informed. "Situation is as expected."
He fired, the magic bolt launcher kicked slightly as the device fired a single blue-white magic round. He fired again a moment later, and began placing single shots down at his two targets.
Nanoha and fate were far enough away, that the incoming rounds easily got warnings from Bardiche and Raging Heart. Nanoha raised her barrier immediately, deflecting the first few shots before the accuracy started to suffer. The little bolts had very little power in them, and barely registered as a threat to the white finish on her barrier jacket.
"Distraction," she warned. Fate nodded and started looking around as she continued. "Raging Heart?"
[THERE IS ONLY ONE OPPONENT DETECTED]
"I think the other is going to use a heavier attack," Fate stated, then took that as her cue to swing around behind Nanoha, looking around the open skies for any signs of hostility, holding the Axe-like head of Bardiche in front of her defensively.
[NO HIGH-POWER SOURCES DETECTED SIR]
"Stealth," Nanoha reminded Fate, still blocking the bolts in case a stronger shot got mixed in. Fate nodded, and turned, but just before she would have missed it, she noticed a glint of sunlight out of the corner of her eye, and spun, shouting a warning to Nanoha as she directed a defense barrier and prepared to counter-attack.
EDI was already right on top of them by the time she had both eyes on him. The MADCAP frame tore right into their position with only a few meters seperation at full Mach Five, the sonic boom slammed into them immediately, thundering against Fate's barrier and shocking Nanoha, who still had her back turned to the approach and hadn't even had time to react to Fate's lightning fast warning. After a moment, they both realized the only thing they could hear was their own heartbeat and an annoying ringing sound. That was a wakeup call.
EDI was already over three kilometers away and bleeding off speed by the time Fate turned to his departure angle.
"I have buzzed the targets," he informed. "Begining engagement procedure."
"Roger that," Crash snapped, dropping into a dive and configuring for his Cerberus. "They got barriers up, so your run didn't knock them out of the sky like we wanted."
"Their temporary Tinnitus should last perhaps a minute," EDI toned. "I advise we hit as hard as we can now, since we won't have a second oppertunity."
"Already in a dive," Crash informed the AI. "I'm going to engage unit LIGHTNING, she's specialized more for close combat, so I should stand a better chance in my heavy armor than your airframe. You take STARS unit."
"Affirmative," EDI responded.
So this is how that sequence is broken down in my head.
The opening strike comes from BANSHEE (Temporary designation for Crash and EDI). Stars and Lightning Units (Nanoha and Fate Respectively, we know this.) Are giving the duo the rookies benifit and not really starting with any seriousness. However, Crash has already clicked into test mode (he's trying to BREAK nanoha and fate, an interesting way to think about his objectives) and has come to the conclusion ahead of time that against ACES, a conventional head on attack will not work.
The offscreen plan that occures right before this sequence is that Crash will provide a distraction while EDI gives the girls a high speed Buzz, keeping his magical weapons offline to keep his stealth profile. Instead, using the rather significant shock force generated by a high mach pass as the method of attack. (A body passing through the air at five times the speed of sound generates a rather nasty concussion wave. Good thing the girls are aces with barriers and barrier jackets, but that won't completely stop something like a SONIC BOOM!
After that, they are pretty much woken up to the fact that this may not be such a simple 'Aces VS Rookies' fight. And the (mock) battle begins in earnest.
Any comments/suggestions? Girls too stationary? Or is their mindset right for the situation here?
I didn't know that Quint didn't know that the sisters were based off her DNA! Where was this mentioned?
She didn't, at first. It was only after Ginga and Subaru were examined that they confirmed that the sisters were based on her genetic data. That was shown in ep23.
I wonder if that examination was before or after she showed them to Genya?
Not one to nit much on the basics of combat, and I find the use of air combat terms awesome here Also, nice tactics and maneuvers used (offensive use of Sonic Booms, now that's good use of sound )
Question to those knowledgeable:
How do you spell "Belka" in japanese text?
Looks like Dr Wily did it on his own accord, then after he got busted, Jail came across his Gadgets, and Due the sisters' whereabouts.
Spoiler for the end?:
TEARS OF THE NORTHERN WIND
CHAPTER 13
The dragons roared and attacked Nanoha in unison. The Ace was under pressure, having been forced to do everything she could to outwit the dragons while dodging relentless attacks fired from the ground by Halcyon. Armstrong, could not approach her as he, too, was busy fending off Halcyon’s relentless melee attacks.
“If I keep on dodging like this, I won’t be able to finish this now!!” She continued dodging all the attacks the dragons were aiming at. Neither the beast, nor Halcyon, were showing any sign of tiring down, as they kept throwing everything at the Ace.
Finally Nanoha had it enough. “Exceed Mode is not just for show!!” she shouted and called forth the Blaster Booster Bits. “Blaster Three! IKKE!!” The bits combined and formed a funnel-like projection shooter around Raising Heart, and their energy combined with Nanoha’s Linked Core.
“DIVINE... BUSTER!!!”
The overly powerful Divine Buster hit one of the dragons, and a chain reaction followed as Nanoha destroyed the Narulian beasts in row, one dragon after another. The attack dissipated soon afterwards, and all that was left of the dragons were only dust.
Nanoha turned to Halcyon. “...” She reloaded Raising Heart and aimed it at the humanoid. Her eyes were glowing coldly as she glowered at Halcyon. “Enough of your resistance, Halcyon. Stop doing this now.”
Halcyon was appalled. She could not believe the balance of power was shifting away from her. In fury she fired multitudes of Plasma Lancers, Eis Sarg and Reppuken at Nanoha, attacking the ace from every angle she could reach. Nimbly, despite under intense fire, Nanoha dodged all the attacks, counterattacking those he could not outrun with Blaster Bits-aided Accel Shooters.
“Useless!”
Halcyon turned around, and was knocked out of her attacking move as Armstrong kicked her on the chest. He charged Forneus in lightning energy and pounced at the Lost Logia, repelling more and more of the humanoid’s attacks with Plasma Wall.
Armstrong had come close to Halcyon.
“Zankantou!”
And he cleaved Halcyon into halves with a hard vertical spinning slash.
“RAIKOU GIRI!!”
The attack, instead, hit Halcyon’s duplicates, yet nevertheless her face was showing a level of fear unlike anything else after barely dodging the killing blow by a hair’s breadth.
Armstrong returned to the battlefield. “Halcyon!” he shouted and pointed Forneus at Halcyon. “If you’re really intending to destroy this world, then I shall prevent that event from happening!” Halcyon became too enraged and fired a Divine Buster that was swiftly cleaved after Armstrong swung Forneus into the particle beam. The “ojiichan” returned fire and counterattacked with a hundred or so Voltage Shooters, which hit Halcyon so hard she was soon knocked out of the air. Armstrong wasted no time and cast Lightning Bind onto the humanoid, preventing her from crashing into the ground (and, subsequently, escaping).
“I will… never lose… to you human…” Halcyon spoke, her voice started to become distorted and mixed with synthesized sounds, and moaned as the magical bind tightened. “Even if… my body is destroyed… I shall not give in…” To Armstrong and Nanoha’s surprise Halcyon twitched and moaned seemingly in pain as she clutched her head. “My body! What’s happening to my body?”
“[Halcyon’s automated defence program has overtaken her body! Be careful!]” Yuuno warned.
Without warning Halcyon, having been overtaken by the automated defensive program and her rage, broke free from Lightning Bind and fired a gigantic Divine Buster at Nanoha. She did not see it coming, and when the pillar of light was three feet before her face she was already preparing to fire a defensive Divine Buster.
“Shin! CRESCENT STORM!!!”
The Raising Storm-lookalike enclosed Nanoha and absorbed the monstrous Divine Buster into the wall of wind. Shocked and appalled, Halcyon was hit by five consecutive Kami Reppuken fired from inside the Crescent Storm and was sent far away from the ‘storm cage’.
The dusts dissipated. And the caster of the Crescent Storm revealed himself to all those who could see.
“M… master Hikki?!” Halcyon gasped.
Dazed, stunned but otherwise unharmed. He stood before Nanoha in defensive posture, magic symbols spinning in front of his palms. “Took a long time for the device to calibrate with my power,” Hikki spoke and dropped his hands. “You okay?” Nanoha could only nod, too shocked at the unexpected, almost dramatic, entry. “Well, save the thanks for later,” he said and turned his attention to Halcyon. “That lady needs to learn a thing or two.”
“Impossible!” Halcyon fired Plasma Lancers at the apparently unprotected Hikki, and was horrified as he effortlessly swiped the projectiles away from him with Reppuken. “You’re supposed to be dead!”
“Dead?” Hikki wagged a finger as to say ‘no’. “So explain why you wanted to protect me so much from everyone. I bet you’re just lying to yourself, aren’t you?” Halcyon fired another Divine Buster, which he effortlessly dodged. “I don’t know what grudge you have against Nanoha, and I don’t know why you wanted to kill her so badly,” he spoke. “But… but she has nothing to do with this.”
“But she wanted to harm you!” Halcyon protested.
“It was you who wanted to harm everyone!” he screamed. “You thought by eliminating everything on this world you would fulfill your duty as a Servant, but you were wrong!” He paused, noticing that Halcyon began to lose faith in her beliefs. “Enough of all these, Halcyon. Father had told me everything about you. You want to live with me, right?”
Halcyon frowned. “Master Hikki, I…” Before she could finish her sentence, she writhed and screamed in deafening pain, her body become visually “distorted” by encrypted codes. It continued, even while residual magic energy encircled her in colourful ribbons until they wrapped the humanoid. Slowly the Queen of Dark Gale transformed into an entirely different entity.
“What the hell?” Hikki gasped. “Halcyon!”
Halcyon disappeared. What had replaced her was a bio-mechanical monster that came as if from the lowest level of Machine Hell. “What kind of thing is that?!” Nanoha exclaimed.
“God help us,” Armstrong murmured.
Its demonic wings flapping, the flame-coated whip cracking, the monster roared and started its attack sprees. It breathed fireballs, shot lightning bolts and spewed ice shards at Hikki in blind fury, cracking whips all the way to hit its tiny target. The Gale Whistler dodged but was unable to return fire due to the ferocity of the attack. “This is the defensive program Chrono Falken had told me,” he thought and charged at the monster but was stopped dead by the monster’s whiplash. He called forth the gale sword he had used in the fated duel against Nagalintar. “This is not fair. You! Give her back to me! NOW!” The monster roared and swung the whip at him. The Gale Whistler dodged, counterattacked and repelled the whiplash, unable to get close to it or Halcyon.
“He can’t beat that monster alone!” Nanoha shouted and prepared the Blaster Bits for another firing run; the ferocity of the fight between the monster and the Gale Whistler, however, prevented her from aiming. Armstrong, too, did not open fire as dust was blocking his line of sight. “Damn it! We can’t even get close!”
Hikki evaded the monster’s whip, and was jumping high over its head. He saw what looked like a glass box on the monster’s forehead, and noticed the glimpse of Halcyon sealed inside. “That’s her!! Now! Kami Reppuken!” To his horror, the temporary device malfunctioned and his energy started going out of control. “Damn it! Not at this time!”
“Hikki! Behind you!!”
Unknown to him, the monster caught him with the flame whip and flung him deep into the ground. The impact was massive, and although he survived Hikki was experiencing excessive pain. The monster brought him back to its vicious mouth, growling in menace at the unwanted interference.
“Crap. Now what?” he groaned.
“CHESTOOOOAAA!!!!!”
The monster’s hand was severed after Armstrong cleaved its limb with Divine Voltage. As soon as he was set free, Hikki made a quick recovery and leapt onto the monster’s head. He approached the glass casing, punched the protective layer and pulled Halcyon out of the cavity.
“I have her now! Both of you, do whatever you have to do!!” He jumped to safety, and both the Aces delivered powerful attacks onto the monster, sending it deep into the ground. He landed, and, with Halcyon still securely held in his arms, he knelt and put the locket-shaped device on her neck. “Should I do this? Sealing Halcyon forever?” he whispered, and watched as the locket glowed. “Mother, what would do if you were in my shoes?”
“Master...” He looked down. Halcyon had woken up, and she was smiling weakly to him. “Your order... Master?” she asked, her voice as soft as a wind chime, a striking contrast from how she sounded when she was “that merciless”.
“Halcyon wasn’t your real name, was it?” Halcyon could only nod. “Then what did mother call you back then?”
Halcyon smiled widely at the question and wound her arms around his neck as she whispered, “you are my Master. You can call me anything you desire.”
“I have no time for that, but...” He paused as to stare into Halcyon’s bright eyes. “I’ll call you Widuri. Is it alright?”
“[Hikki! What are you doing? Seal her this instant!]”
Hikki did not answer Nagalintar, as he was sunned after Halcyon gave a soft kiss on his cheek. “Thank you. You really are Master Bayu’s beloved child, the true Gale Whistler.” The humanoid Unison Device into the air and clung onto Hikki’s hands as shining gauntlets; at the same time of the “unification” she changed his dresses into a Holy Orders uniform.
“Unison complete. Executing Battle Mode.”
The transformation was brief, and it completed just in time the monster lost control over itself and fired random shots everywhere. Nanoha and Armstrong had been knocked out of the air, the former spinning out of control before Hikki caught her. “That’s the second time I saved you,” Hikki said as he held Nanoha in his arms.
“Hikki! You... changed,” Nanoha gasped. “What has happened?”
“I’ll tell you later,” he said and put her back on the ground. He, then, turned his attention to the berserk monster. “Let’s see what you’re really made of, Widuri.”
“Certainly, Master.”
He turned to a direction, as if looking at someone from faraway. “Sorry, Father,” he told Nagalintar, “I know you’re watching, but this time, I have to finish whatever that has started.”
“[...]”
“Are you angry at me?”
“[It cannot be helped, after all. Go, Hikki. You know what you must do.]”
He grinned. “Well, then,” he spoke and cracked his fists. “Whoever here wants to taste the fury of the storm?”
He jumped at the uncontrollable monster and fired torrents of Reppuken that barraged the monster from altitude; he changed mode of attack and proceeded to pound the monster in close range.
“DEADLY RAVE!!!”
Hikki attacked. And in less than a minute, hundreds of precision-based attack with thousands of pounds of destruction severed the monster's internal organs and disrupted its vitals, and the monster was pushed across the battlefield as Hikki ended the manoeuvre with an energy blast onto the monster's chest.
“Eat this!!!” Hikki fired a Kami Reppuken at the monster. The crippled artificially created beast lost its left limb as the projectile cut through. Hikki fired another Kami Reppuken that destroyed the monster’s horns before ending the manoeuvre with a gale arrow.
“I’m not done yet!” He pounced at the stunned monster. “Squall!! BREAKER!!” The powerful point-blank punch destroyed the monster’s barrier and sent compressed energy into the monster’s body, severely damaging its vitals. He jumped away from the monster as Nanoha and Armstrong each fired Accel Shooters and Sacred Edges at the monster.
“[Regeneration energy is detected from the monster!!]”
“What?” Hikki, Nanoha and Armstrong looked at the monster, appalled to see it growing back limbs and reattaching horns. “Alright. What are we supposed to do now?” Hikki demanded.
“I really don’t want to do that again...”
Hikki turned to Nanoha. “What are you talking of?”
“It’s just like the last time...” Nanoha clenched the staff of Raising Heart. “When Yami no Sho appeared and threatened to destroy the world, we... we were forced to fight her and...” She looked at Armstrong. “Isn’t there anything else we can do, Ojiichan? Isn’t there anything... to end this?”
Armstrong lifted Forneus. “Unless we have a better alternative, then history is going to repeat itself.” He looked at himself, Nanoha and Hikki. “Fate and Hayate haven’t recovered yet. Looks like it’s up to the three of us to end this atrocity.”
“[Humans, I have words to speak with you.]” Nanoha and Armstrong were startled when Nagalintar’s voice echoed inside his head. “[The beast – or defensive mechanism system as you choose to call – cannot be destroyed by all regular means. It must be first cut off from all contacts with the timeline.]”
“Are you kidding me? We don’t have the kind of ability to seal the monster,” Nanoha interjected.
“[My son will help,]” Nagalintar replied.
“Father, you took away the Chronograph power. How am I supposed to Time Halt the thing?” Hikki replied in shock. “Even if... Widuri can help, I don’t know how.”
There was a slight chuckle as Nagalintar revealed the answer. “[Neither did your mother, and yet she defeated me when we first met. If she could do it, so can you.]”
Hikki was doubtful. “How?”
“[Revealing it to you would be unfair to both of them,]” Nagalintar replied. “[You have to learn to solve the problem yourself.]”
“We don’t have much time for that!” Armstrong barked when the monster suddenly hurled itself towards the trio. Panicked, Nanoha aimed Raising Heart at the monster to fire a desperate Divine Buster, but Hikki had already acted firsthand and fired massive Kami Reppuken salvoes onto the monster. The attacks brought the monster off track and crashed into a hill instead.
“Casting Gleipnir Strings.”
Hikki threw the magical chains at the monster and bound it onto the ground, denying its movement. “If I can’t do this...” He opened stance and pounced at the monster. “THEN NOBODY ELSE CAN! SQUALL BREAKER!!!” Again, the single-hit punch broke through the monster’s defence, but this time Hikki went further and continued with a devastating Deadly Rave attack run.
“ORA-ORA-ORA-ORA-ORA-ORA-ORA-ORA-ORA-ORA-ORA!!!!”
Hikki ended the manoeuvre with his third Squall Breaker and left the monster crippled. “The monster has lost its defensive capability! Now!” Taking no risk of not complying, Nanoha fired the Blaster-aided Divine Buster, while Armstrong’s Divine Voltage Forneus extended to a great length and slammed onto the monster. The force of the combination attack destroyed the monster’s outer shell and exposed its core to the outside world.
“Forneus, Plasma Wall!” The Device shot plasma-generated energy barrier at the core and sealed it from the outside world. Nanoha did the same and cast spelling binds to further restrict the core’s movement. “If what the Dragon God said is true, then all we have to do is...”
They turned to Hikki; by now he had opened his arms in a stance reminiscent to that of Time Halt. “I know I no longer have the Chronograph power inside of me,” he spoke, even as the gales inside his hand turned colour to crystal clear. “But that doesn’t mean I can’t kick ass as usual! Widuri!”
“Entering Jentayu Mode.”
“Let’s end this once and for all!” he declared. “HISSATSU!!”
Everything happened too fast. Hikki had already pounced into the barricade, and was flying away from the core, the crystal gale enveloping the heart-like entity in ribbons. He landed far from the core, hand lifted as to let the wind ribbons to undo themselves.
“Can you hear it?”
His fingers snapped.
“The voice of the whistling gale?”
The gale ribbons disintegrated, and together brought the core into its demise as they dissolved in thin air and, as Nagalintar had mentioned, “erased” from existence. At the same time, remains of the dragons, as well as the hemispherical dome that had encased the area since the start of the battle, began to disappear.
(“The whistling gale...” Nagalintar murmured as he watched the battle from a distance. “The only ability that could counteract my Chronograph power. And also... the only ability to be passed down to generations through bloodline.”
He chuckled when he remembered the event that led to the witnessing of the whistling gale. “Bayu....” He looked up into the night sky, where the northern lights had appeared to illuminate the darkness. “Our child has grown up to a person you had longed to see.”)
Hikki dropped onto his knees. The execution of all the attacks had drained most of his energy, and he had only a little to keep his consciousness. “That was... almost close...”
“Master Hikki!” Widuri disengaged from Hikki and took back her humanoid appearance. “Are you alright?”
He signaled a thumb’s up. “You already know, right?” He gathered his breath and gazed into Widuri’s eyes. “Say, Widuri.”
“Yes, Master Hikki?”
“I...” He lost consciousness and fell onto her. “...I think I need to sleep...” The Unison Device was startled, as so did Nanoha and Armstrong who had rushed towards him. Halcyon, formerly the Queen of Dark Gale, could not say anything as Hikki involuntarily wrapped his arms around her as to seek protection from her.
“Master Hikki...” She giggled. As gently as she could muster, she cuddled the sleeping boy. Tears slowly fell down her cheeks and dropped onto Hikki’s face. “I’m so sorry for hurting you, Master...” she whispered and tightened the embrace.
Then she smiled. “...and thank you...”
CHAPTER 13
The dragons roared and attacked Nanoha in unison. The Ace was under pressure, having been forced to do everything she could to outwit the dragons while dodging relentless attacks fired from the ground by Halcyon. Armstrong, could not approach her as he, too, was busy fending off Halcyon’s relentless melee attacks.
“If I keep on dodging like this, I won’t be able to finish this now!!” She continued dodging all the attacks the dragons were aiming at. Neither the beast, nor Halcyon, were showing any sign of tiring down, as they kept throwing everything at the Ace.
Finally Nanoha had it enough. “Exceed Mode is not just for show!!” she shouted and called forth the Blaster Booster Bits. “Blaster Three! IKKE!!” The bits combined and formed a funnel-like projection shooter around Raising Heart, and their energy combined with Nanoha’s Linked Core.
“DIVINE... BUSTER!!!”
The overly powerful Divine Buster hit one of the dragons, and a chain reaction followed as Nanoha destroyed the Narulian beasts in row, one dragon after another. The attack dissipated soon afterwards, and all that was left of the dragons were only dust.
Nanoha turned to Halcyon. “...” She reloaded Raising Heart and aimed it at the humanoid. Her eyes were glowing coldly as she glowered at Halcyon. “Enough of your resistance, Halcyon. Stop doing this now.”
Halcyon was appalled. She could not believe the balance of power was shifting away from her. In fury she fired multitudes of Plasma Lancers, Eis Sarg and Reppuken at Nanoha, attacking the ace from every angle she could reach. Nimbly, despite under intense fire, Nanoha dodged all the attacks, counterattacking those he could not outrun with Blaster Bits-aided Accel Shooters.
“Useless!”
Halcyon turned around, and was knocked out of her attacking move as Armstrong kicked her on the chest. He charged Forneus in lightning energy and pounced at the Lost Logia, repelling more and more of the humanoid’s attacks with Plasma Wall.
Armstrong had come close to Halcyon.
“Zankantou!”
And he cleaved Halcyon into halves with a hard vertical spinning slash.
“RAIKOU GIRI!!”
The attack, instead, hit Halcyon’s duplicates, yet nevertheless her face was showing a level of fear unlike anything else after barely dodging the killing blow by a hair’s breadth.
Armstrong returned to the battlefield. “Halcyon!” he shouted and pointed Forneus at Halcyon. “If you’re really intending to destroy this world, then I shall prevent that event from happening!” Halcyon became too enraged and fired a Divine Buster that was swiftly cleaved after Armstrong swung Forneus into the particle beam. The “ojiichan” returned fire and counterattacked with a hundred or so Voltage Shooters, which hit Halcyon so hard she was soon knocked out of the air. Armstrong wasted no time and cast Lightning Bind onto the humanoid, preventing her from crashing into the ground (and, subsequently, escaping).
“I will… never lose… to you human…” Halcyon spoke, her voice started to become distorted and mixed with synthesized sounds, and moaned as the magical bind tightened. “Even if… my body is destroyed… I shall not give in…” To Armstrong and Nanoha’s surprise Halcyon twitched and moaned seemingly in pain as she clutched her head. “My body! What’s happening to my body?”
“[Halcyon’s automated defence program has overtaken her body! Be careful!]” Yuuno warned.
Without warning Halcyon, having been overtaken by the automated defensive program and her rage, broke free from Lightning Bind and fired a gigantic Divine Buster at Nanoha. She did not see it coming, and when the pillar of light was three feet before her face she was already preparing to fire a defensive Divine Buster.
“Shin! CRESCENT STORM!!!”
The Raising Storm-lookalike enclosed Nanoha and absorbed the monstrous Divine Buster into the wall of wind. Shocked and appalled, Halcyon was hit by five consecutive Kami Reppuken fired from inside the Crescent Storm and was sent far away from the ‘storm cage’.
The dusts dissipated. And the caster of the Crescent Storm revealed himself to all those who could see.
“M… master Hikki?!” Halcyon gasped.
Dazed, stunned but otherwise unharmed. He stood before Nanoha in defensive posture, magic symbols spinning in front of his palms. “Took a long time for the device to calibrate with my power,” Hikki spoke and dropped his hands. “You okay?” Nanoha could only nod, too shocked at the unexpected, almost dramatic, entry. “Well, save the thanks for later,” he said and turned his attention to Halcyon. “That lady needs to learn a thing or two.”
“Impossible!” Halcyon fired Plasma Lancers at the apparently unprotected Hikki, and was horrified as he effortlessly swiped the projectiles away from him with Reppuken. “You’re supposed to be dead!”
“Dead?” Hikki wagged a finger as to say ‘no’. “So explain why you wanted to protect me so much from everyone. I bet you’re just lying to yourself, aren’t you?” Halcyon fired another Divine Buster, which he effortlessly dodged. “I don’t know what grudge you have against Nanoha, and I don’t know why you wanted to kill her so badly,” he spoke. “But… but she has nothing to do with this.”
“But she wanted to harm you!” Halcyon protested.
“It was you who wanted to harm everyone!” he screamed. “You thought by eliminating everything on this world you would fulfill your duty as a Servant, but you were wrong!” He paused, noticing that Halcyon began to lose faith in her beliefs. “Enough of all these, Halcyon. Father had told me everything about you. You want to live with me, right?”
Halcyon frowned. “Master Hikki, I…” Before she could finish her sentence, she writhed and screamed in deafening pain, her body become visually “distorted” by encrypted codes. It continued, even while residual magic energy encircled her in colourful ribbons until they wrapped the humanoid. Slowly the Queen of Dark Gale transformed into an entirely different entity.
“What the hell?” Hikki gasped. “Halcyon!”
Halcyon disappeared. What had replaced her was a bio-mechanical monster that came as if from the lowest level of Machine Hell. “What kind of thing is that?!” Nanoha exclaimed.
“God help us,” Armstrong murmured.
Its demonic wings flapping, the flame-coated whip cracking, the monster roared and started its attack sprees. It breathed fireballs, shot lightning bolts and spewed ice shards at Hikki in blind fury, cracking whips all the way to hit its tiny target. The Gale Whistler dodged but was unable to return fire due to the ferocity of the attack. “This is the defensive program Chrono Falken had told me,” he thought and charged at the monster but was stopped dead by the monster’s whiplash. He called forth the gale sword he had used in the fated duel against Nagalintar. “This is not fair. You! Give her back to me! NOW!” The monster roared and swung the whip at him. The Gale Whistler dodged, counterattacked and repelled the whiplash, unable to get close to it or Halcyon.
“He can’t beat that monster alone!” Nanoha shouted and prepared the Blaster Bits for another firing run; the ferocity of the fight between the monster and the Gale Whistler, however, prevented her from aiming. Armstrong, too, did not open fire as dust was blocking his line of sight. “Damn it! We can’t even get close!”
Hikki evaded the monster’s whip, and was jumping high over its head. He saw what looked like a glass box on the monster’s forehead, and noticed the glimpse of Halcyon sealed inside. “That’s her!! Now! Kami Reppuken!” To his horror, the temporary device malfunctioned and his energy started going out of control. “Damn it! Not at this time!”
“Hikki! Behind you!!”
Unknown to him, the monster caught him with the flame whip and flung him deep into the ground. The impact was massive, and although he survived Hikki was experiencing excessive pain. The monster brought him back to its vicious mouth, growling in menace at the unwanted interference.
“Crap. Now what?” he groaned.
“CHESTOOOOAAA!!!!!”
The monster’s hand was severed after Armstrong cleaved its limb with Divine Voltage. As soon as he was set free, Hikki made a quick recovery and leapt onto the monster’s head. He approached the glass casing, punched the protective layer and pulled Halcyon out of the cavity.
“I have her now! Both of you, do whatever you have to do!!” He jumped to safety, and both the Aces delivered powerful attacks onto the monster, sending it deep into the ground. He landed, and, with Halcyon still securely held in his arms, he knelt and put the locket-shaped device on her neck. “Should I do this? Sealing Halcyon forever?” he whispered, and watched as the locket glowed. “Mother, what would do if you were in my shoes?”
“Master...” He looked down. Halcyon had woken up, and she was smiling weakly to him. “Your order... Master?” she asked, her voice as soft as a wind chime, a striking contrast from how she sounded when she was “that merciless”.
“Halcyon wasn’t your real name, was it?” Halcyon could only nod. “Then what did mother call you back then?”
Halcyon smiled widely at the question and wound her arms around his neck as she whispered, “you are my Master. You can call me anything you desire.”
“I have no time for that, but...” He paused as to stare into Halcyon’s bright eyes. “I’ll call you Widuri. Is it alright?”
“[Hikki! What are you doing? Seal her this instant!]”
Hikki did not answer Nagalintar, as he was sunned after Halcyon gave a soft kiss on his cheek. “Thank you. You really are Master Bayu’s beloved child, the true Gale Whistler.” The humanoid Unison Device into the air and clung onto Hikki’s hands as shining gauntlets; at the same time of the “unification” she changed his dresses into a Holy Orders uniform.
“Unison complete. Executing Battle Mode.”
The transformation was brief, and it completed just in time the monster lost control over itself and fired random shots everywhere. Nanoha and Armstrong had been knocked out of the air, the former spinning out of control before Hikki caught her. “That’s the second time I saved you,” Hikki said as he held Nanoha in his arms.
“Hikki! You... changed,” Nanoha gasped. “What has happened?”
“I’ll tell you later,” he said and put her back on the ground. He, then, turned his attention to the berserk monster. “Let’s see what you’re really made of, Widuri.”
“Certainly, Master.”
He turned to a direction, as if looking at someone from faraway. “Sorry, Father,” he told Nagalintar, “I know you’re watching, but this time, I have to finish whatever that has started.”
“[...]”
“Are you angry at me?”
“[It cannot be helped, after all. Go, Hikki. You know what you must do.]”
He grinned. “Well, then,” he spoke and cracked his fists. “Whoever here wants to taste the fury of the storm?”
He jumped at the uncontrollable monster and fired torrents of Reppuken that barraged the monster from altitude; he changed mode of attack and proceeded to pound the monster in close range.
“DEADLY RAVE!!!”
Hikki attacked. And in less than a minute, hundreds of precision-based attack with thousands of pounds of destruction severed the monster's internal organs and disrupted its vitals, and the monster was pushed across the battlefield as Hikki ended the manoeuvre with an energy blast onto the monster's chest.
“Eat this!!!” Hikki fired a Kami Reppuken at the monster. The crippled artificially created beast lost its left limb as the projectile cut through. Hikki fired another Kami Reppuken that destroyed the monster’s horns before ending the manoeuvre with a gale arrow.
“I’m not done yet!” He pounced at the stunned monster. “Squall!! BREAKER!!” The powerful point-blank punch destroyed the monster’s barrier and sent compressed energy into the monster’s body, severely damaging its vitals. He jumped away from the monster as Nanoha and Armstrong each fired Accel Shooters and Sacred Edges at the monster.
“[Regeneration energy is detected from the monster!!]”
“What?” Hikki, Nanoha and Armstrong looked at the monster, appalled to see it growing back limbs and reattaching horns. “Alright. What are we supposed to do now?” Hikki demanded.
“I really don’t want to do that again...”
Hikki turned to Nanoha. “What are you talking of?”
“It’s just like the last time...” Nanoha clenched the staff of Raising Heart. “When Yami no Sho appeared and threatened to destroy the world, we... we were forced to fight her and...” She looked at Armstrong. “Isn’t there anything else we can do, Ojiichan? Isn’t there anything... to end this?”
Armstrong lifted Forneus. “Unless we have a better alternative, then history is going to repeat itself.” He looked at himself, Nanoha and Hikki. “Fate and Hayate haven’t recovered yet. Looks like it’s up to the three of us to end this atrocity.”
“[Humans, I have words to speak with you.]” Nanoha and Armstrong were startled when Nagalintar’s voice echoed inside his head. “[The beast – or defensive mechanism system as you choose to call – cannot be destroyed by all regular means. It must be first cut off from all contacts with the timeline.]”
“Are you kidding me? We don’t have the kind of ability to seal the monster,” Nanoha interjected.
“[My son will help,]” Nagalintar replied.
“Father, you took away the Chronograph power. How am I supposed to Time Halt the thing?” Hikki replied in shock. “Even if... Widuri can help, I don’t know how.”
There was a slight chuckle as Nagalintar revealed the answer. “[Neither did your mother, and yet she defeated me when we first met. If she could do it, so can you.]”
Hikki was doubtful. “How?”
“[Revealing it to you would be unfair to both of them,]” Nagalintar replied. “[You have to learn to solve the problem yourself.]”
“We don’t have much time for that!” Armstrong barked when the monster suddenly hurled itself towards the trio. Panicked, Nanoha aimed Raising Heart at the monster to fire a desperate Divine Buster, but Hikki had already acted firsthand and fired massive Kami Reppuken salvoes onto the monster. The attacks brought the monster off track and crashed into a hill instead.
“Casting Gleipnir Strings.”
Hikki threw the magical chains at the monster and bound it onto the ground, denying its movement. “If I can’t do this...” He opened stance and pounced at the monster. “THEN NOBODY ELSE CAN! SQUALL BREAKER!!!” Again, the single-hit punch broke through the monster’s defence, but this time Hikki went further and continued with a devastating Deadly Rave attack run.
“ORA-ORA-ORA-ORA-ORA-ORA-ORA-ORA-ORA-ORA-ORA!!!!”
Hikki ended the manoeuvre with his third Squall Breaker and left the monster crippled. “The monster has lost its defensive capability! Now!” Taking no risk of not complying, Nanoha fired the Blaster-aided Divine Buster, while Armstrong’s Divine Voltage Forneus extended to a great length and slammed onto the monster. The force of the combination attack destroyed the monster’s outer shell and exposed its core to the outside world.
“Forneus, Plasma Wall!” The Device shot plasma-generated energy barrier at the core and sealed it from the outside world. Nanoha did the same and cast spelling binds to further restrict the core’s movement. “If what the Dragon God said is true, then all we have to do is...”
They turned to Hikki; by now he had opened his arms in a stance reminiscent to that of Time Halt. “I know I no longer have the Chronograph power inside of me,” he spoke, even as the gales inside his hand turned colour to crystal clear. “But that doesn’t mean I can’t kick ass as usual! Widuri!”
“Entering Jentayu Mode.”
“Let’s end this once and for all!” he declared. “HISSATSU!!”
Everything happened too fast. Hikki had already pounced into the barricade, and was flying away from the core, the crystal gale enveloping the heart-like entity in ribbons. He landed far from the core, hand lifted as to let the wind ribbons to undo themselves.
“Can you hear it?”
His fingers snapped.
“The voice of the whistling gale?”
The gale ribbons disintegrated, and together brought the core into its demise as they dissolved in thin air and, as Nagalintar had mentioned, “erased” from existence. At the same time, remains of the dragons, as well as the hemispherical dome that had encased the area since the start of the battle, began to disappear.
(“The whistling gale...” Nagalintar murmured as he watched the battle from a distance. “The only ability that could counteract my Chronograph power. And also... the only ability to be passed down to generations through bloodline.”
He chuckled when he remembered the event that led to the witnessing of the whistling gale. “Bayu....” He looked up into the night sky, where the northern lights had appeared to illuminate the darkness. “Our child has grown up to a person you had longed to see.”)
Hikki dropped onto his knees. The execution of all the attacks had drained most of his energy, and he had only a little to keep his consciousness. “That was... almost close...”
“Master Hikki!” Widuri disengaged from Hikki and took back her humanoid appearance. “Are you alright?”
He signaled a thumb’s up. “You already know, right?” He gathered his breath and gazed into Widuri’s eyes. “Say, Widuri.”
“Yes, Master Hikki?”
“I...” He lost consciousness and fell onto her. “...I think I need to sleep...” The Unison Device was startled, as so did Nanoha and Armstrong who had rushed towards him. Halcyon, formerly the Queen of Dark Gale, could not say anything as Hikki involuntarily wrapped his arms around her as to seek protection from her.
“Master Hikki...” She giggled. As gently as she could muster, she cuddled the sleeping boy. Tears slowly fell down her cheeks and dropped onto Hikki’s face. “I’m so sorry for hurting you, Master...” she whispered and tightened the embrace.
Then she smiled. “...and thank you...”
They turned to Hikki; by now he had opened his arms in a stance reminiscent to that of Time Halt. “I know I no longer have the Chronograph power inside of me,” he spoke, even as the gales inside his hand turned colour to crystal clear. “But that doesn’t mean I can’t kick ass as usual! Widuri!”
“Entering Jentayu Mode.”
“Let’s end this once and for all!” he declared. “HISSATSU!!”
Everything happened too fast. Hikki had already pounced into the barricade, and was flying away from the core, the crystal gale enveloping the heart-like entity in ribbons. He landed far from the core, hand lifted as to let the wind ribbons to undo themselves.
“Can you hear it?”
His fingers snapped.
“The voice of the whistling gale?”
The gale ribbons disintegrated, and together brought the core into its demise as they dissolved in thin air and, as Nagalintar had mentioned, “erased” from existence. At the same time, remains of the dragons, as well as the hemispherical dome that had encased the area since the start of the battle, began to disappear.
(“The whistling gale...” Nagalintar murmured as he watched the battle from a distance. “The only ability that could counteract my Chronograph power. And also... the only ability to be passed down to generations through bloodline.”
He chuckled when he remembered the event that led to the witnessing of the whistling gale. “Bayu....” He looked up into the night sky, where the northern lights had appeared to illuminate the darkness. “Our child has grown up to a person you had longed to see.”)
Hikki dropped onto his knees. The execution of all the attacks had drained most of his energy, and he had only a little to keep his consciousness. “That was... almost close...”
“Master Hikki!” Widuri disengaged from Hikki and took back her humanoid appearance. “Are you alright?”
He signaled a thumb’s up. “You already know, right?” He gathered his breath and gazed into Widuri’s eyes. “Say, Widuri.”
“Yes, Master Hikki?”
“I...” He lost consciousness and fell onto her. “...I think I need to sleep...” The Unison Device was startled, as so did Nanoha and Armstrong who had rushed towards him. Halcyon, formerly the Queen of Dark Gale, could not say anything as Hikki involuntarily wrapped his arms around her as to seek protection from her.
“Master Hikki...” She giggled. As gently as she could muster, she cuddled the sleeping boy. Tears slowly fell down her cheeks and dropped onto Hikki’s face. “I’m so sorry for hurting you, Master...” she whispered and tightened the embrace.
Then she smiled. “...and thank you...”
Not sure, this one came together just fine, and was made before Keroko 'apeared' in StrikerS through Vivio (hence why she looks more Nanoha-like then most of my other art). And Vivio 4koma art is rare.
OVERALL COMBAT CAPABILTY ASSESSMENT:
Aurion’s vast experience and knowledge of magic and combat strategy makes him a foe to be feared. He doesn’t so much as overwhelm opponents by sheer force, but he doesn’t rely solely on tactics either. His preferred style involves tactical use of his own capabilities and the surroundings as setup, particularly his illusions and binds. He then strikes with unusually powerful focused attacks, which is how he compensates for his relative lack of magical stamina. In short, the focus of his style is versatility rather than focusing in anything in particular. But the fact that he has already specialized in some fields before jumping to versatility gives him some unfair specialization in some areas. The following is a rundown of his capabilities per category.
Range Attack:
As a once-standard Mage of the TSAB, he is naturally a more range-oriented attacker. If one were to compare him to someone like Nanoha, he strikes with smaller, concentrated energy projectiles in contrast to the extremely high-power shots of the Ace of Aces. His spellcasting speed is undoubtedly good, augmented further by his device, Reishiki. It’s rare to see any spell that takes more than a few seconds for him to cast. His degree of control over his shots is phenomenal, higher than even that of Nanoha’s or Keroko's; owing to his unique Magical Field Manipulation skill. His accuracy in shooting is also top-tier, but he is more oriented for in-field shooting as opposed to sniping from extreme distances. He is an overall very proficient range-attacker; with several years amount of experience and precision behind his each and every shot.
Melee Attack:
He is by no means a melee-combat specialist. However, he has a good amount of ability in hand-to-hand combat stemming from his training under Instructor Austin Abrams of the Air Division during his youth. His strikes are powerful enough by non-Knight standards, but he more often than not augments his own strikes with magic such as Break Impulse for particularly devastating results. He has about eight years of swordsmanship training to be able to use his first miscellaneous device properly; VKA-01, a double-edge broadsword that he wields one-handedly. He started doing so in order to have a better feel of the Neo-Belkan System research in which he heavily participated in. However, the most fearsome part about his capabilities in close ranges is his left prosthetic arm/device, Reishiki. Aside from taking the form of a robotic arm, it also possesses a frighteningly monstrous amount of physical strength inherent in robotic appendages. He can go as far as crushing bones that are unprotected just by his grip. And going along those lines, his strikes are incredibly powerful when he uses melee weapons (whether makeshift or not) left-handed. All of these give him a definitive edge over most Mages in close-quarters combat. Of course, full-fledged Knights such as Signum and melee-specialist Mages like Fate naturally surpass him melee-wise in terms of skill, nonetheless.
Physical Defense:
Aurion is no Knight, and is naturally more reliant in magical shielding due to being a Mage. However, he WAS trained under Austin Abrams after all, an instructor who advocated for top physical and mental form for mages. Despite having retired active military service, he maintains a good physical training system to keep himself fit for battle reminiscent to that of Abrams’ methods (of course, on several degrees lower, since Abrams is a definitive monster in physical form) Due to this, his physique is in good condition, and can take a good amount of physical punishment.
Magical Defense:
His magical defenses are, strictly speaking, solid. He knows several types of barriers, shields, and other types of defenses from both Mid-Childan and Neo-Belkan systems; actually creating a couple of unique and powerful defense spells of his own. However, as good as his defenses are, he prefers to dodge over blocking attacks since he has far less energy compared to the likes of the Aces. Naturally, highly-intensive magical defense-use is very taxing on the magical stamina of a mage, even in consideration with his Magical Field Manipulation ability. In short, he has good defenses but doesn’t have the stamina to play tank for too long.
Tactical/Support Abilities:
His plethora of spells also includes support skills. However, one wouldn’t help but notice that almost all of them save for the single basic healing sell are all combat-oriented instead of purely support skills. Despite his proficiency with magic in general, his orientation is primarily more on the offensive side. His best area in tactical spells… and arguably his best area in magic altogether (even higher than his range-attack skills), is his prowess in Illusion magic. His proficiency in mirages, disguise, invisibility and even overlapping illusions has always been his best area since he was an Enforcer; and it actually remains so up to now. He likes to spend more of his magical energy in his illusions than in attacks or defenses, granting him several ways of defeating enemies without spending too much energy in more stamina-consuming attacks. He has a surprisingly large amount of known Restriction/Bind spells; which has been made a subject of some jokes on some occasions. He knows how, and is not afraid to play dirty as well, which is an asset with some harder dealings in the field.
Mana Capacity:
Arguably his worst area as a mage aside from pure support spells, his magic capacity count only amounts to 623,000 units, lower than half of either Takamachi Nanoha’s (1,270,000) and Fate T. Harlaown’s (1,430,000) latent magical stamina. While still quite an honestly respectable amount, this limitation prompts him to focus on more low-power and smaller, concentrated spells over any kind of big magical attacks.
Speed and Agility:
His speed and agility are overall decent, but not much when compared to the ranks of Fate, Keroko and other speed/maneuverability-specialists. He still would need separate spells to be able to do quick moves at par with those mentioned since his natural speed won’t compare too well.
Tactical Ability:
While not an outright tactical genius, Aurion is actually on par with those like Tesla in tactical ability. (Amusingly, though Tesla should be faring better than she does right now in her and Aurion’s competitive scores, Aurion retains a strong lead since their little competitions can sometimes range from normal games of strategy to those of individual mind games, where he excels.) But, instead of only prowess in tactical theory, his strong point is in tactical innovation; which sometimes borders on the silly side of things, but oddly enough, works wonders on some occasions.
Hopefully, it'll come thru as acceptable. I lowered his stamina further and batted off some more unacceptable capabilities. And I also made sure to properly cite the limitations of each aspect. So, how is it?
'While not an outright tactical genius, Aurion is actually on par with those like Tesla in tactical abillity' A bit of a paradox, concidering Tesla is a tactical genius.
Spoiler for Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Alpha, Scene V:
Administered World 52
The planet was beautiful, a spot of light in the blackness of space. The human population of the planet were akin to elves in their reverence of their world, expanding slowly and with as little damage to the planet's lush ecosystem as possible. They never developed weapons or fossil fuels to harm the planet; instead, the natives were so atuned to their own Linker Cores that they completely skipped that phase of life, and solely relied on a crude form of magitech to run things until the TSAB showed up and helped to advance them and administer them. The only sore spot on the planet was the TSAB facilities in one of the more barren regions, as per the request of the natives.
Keroko G. Takamachi had no time to take in the scenery of the planet. As beautiful as the blue-green marble looked from space, she had a mission to conduct. It was, of all things, a hunt. A hunt for a dangerous monster. As she flew over the tall trees of one of the many forests on this planet, she wondered not for the first time why the hell they needed an Enforcer First Class to deal with a problem like a roving beast. It couldn't be that bad. Could it?
Keroko shook her head clear of her thoughts and resumed scanning the forests. She had been told the monster in question was at least two meters tall and estimated to be "at least" one-hundred fifty kilograms. It had the ability to shoot hundreds of "spines" at people, and had so far caused a surprising amount of deaths: up to fifty at last count. Worse yet, the monster seemed to be escorted by a pack of "vicious dogs" that were causing deaths in their own right; so far, fifteen disappearances had been caused thanks to the "dogs", totaling up to sixty-five.
It was almost disgraceful if it wasn't tragic. Of those sixty-five, about half of which were civilians, and the other half were the search and destroy security forces. When those turned up dead or missing, they called in the Enforcers. The Enforcers thus, sent Keroko, leading up to why she was here, flying over a forest, chasing monsters she couldn't see.
As the Aspect Mage scanned the forest for any unusual sightings, her thoughts inevitably swung back to her sister. Though they had been staying in contact, Keroko's missions, like Fate's, were inevitably keeping her farther from home for longer periods of time. This mission was her closest in five years, and World 52 wasn't even near the Core Worlds. She was aware of Nanoha's slow downward spiral and wanted to be there to help her - everyone could see the drastic effect it was having on Vivio, even if the teenager couldn't see it herself - but being light-years away was making it nearly impossible.
If only there was a way I could do something from here... she thought.
Her train of thought was suddenly derailed, however, when a sudden stench filled the air. The smell was so awful that Keroko felt like she flew into a brick wall. Covering her nose and mouth and coughing violently, the Enforcer literally slammed to a halt, wildly searching for the source so she could promptly blast it out into the stratosphere. Her eyes laid upon what appeared to be a giant mass of green fungus, protruding out of the forest like a cancer. That's... not natural... she thought to herself through a haze of disgust.
A thought occurred to her that maybe this was where those creatures were - call it bad luck or women's intuition. Landing within the forest, Keroko activated Artherion and began to sneak up to the fungi formation, ducking behind trees everytime she heard movement that wasn't her own. In this forest, she was limited; though landing wasn't a problem, taking off would be much more difficult, though if worse came to worst she could simply blast a hole in the "ceiling" before taking off.
As the Enforcer slowly moved her way to the formation, she switched her Device to Firing Mode and hoped that she could snipe whatever she could see. Holding the base of the staff to her right shoulder and raising the Device with both hands, she wielded the weapon as a rifle, using the device to create for her a mental crosshair. Stalking through the forests wasn't much of a problem, but the lack of other forms of mobility was. Keroko was getting paranoid as she stomached the smell and closed in on the mass of fungus and seeing, surprisingly, that a tunnel had been bore into it. Not only that, but a small clearing surrounded it, as if the ground around the mass had died.
Keroko lowered the Device, confused, as she walked into the clearing. What the hell?
A screech of what sounded like a mix between a cat and hawk suddenly came out of nowhere. Keroko turned around to see a mass of brown and green flesh leap on to her and knock her to the ground. The thing ripped into her Barrier Jacket and into the soft flesh underneath. Keroko sucked it up and raised Artherion above her head, bringing it down on the whatever it was that tried to kill her. The creature caved under the pressure, dying instantly.
Keroko stood up slowly, clutching her stomach in pain as she looked down at the monster that had just attacked her. Other than the fact she had severed the thing's spine in two, the creature looked like a thing from a monster movie. It was small, no more than two or three feet tall, and seemed to run on four long, spiny legs. Two more - the ones it had used to cut open Keroko's Barrier Jacket - were situated on the back, ending in long, cruel scythes, almost ridiculously large considering the size of its body.
Blood seeped from between the Aspect Mage's fingers. The damage wasn't fatal, but she would be damned if it didn't hurt. And when there's one... She looked up to see five more of the small monsters hop out on all fours, sniffing around and hissing at her. Well... that's not too ba... oh hell.
A monstrous thing slithered out of the forest, everything eyewitnesses saw and more. Its scythe-like arms were twice the length of Artherion and probably twice as sharp. On its sides, flaps on the carapace opened up to reveal hundreds of spines as it twisted its massive head toward Keroko and hissed.
Keroko, on instict, raised a force field. The monster answered by firing a hundred spines at her. The spines covered the distance between the two in the blink of an eye, slamming into the force field and nearly breaking through, such was their speed. The force of the impact embedded the spines in the field, giving Keroko a good look at them; 15 centimeters long, spiked, and dripping with a murky black substance. She didn't like the look of that at all.
Staring through her barrier, Keroko watched as the monster lifted the flaps again to reveal more spines.
Time to go!
Keroko dropped the forcefield and leaped into the air as the monster fired, sending a burst of spines just under her feet. The monster fired a few more times, but Keroko was fast enough to evade (though just barely). Shoving aside the pain she was feeling, Keroko went on the offensive. "Let's go, Artherion!"
[Yes, sir! Blast Lancer!] A spiral of magic beams emanated from Keroko's outstretched palm, expanding and twisting around each other as she mentally commanded the beams to target each of her opponents, and sent them slamming into her opponents. The explosions kicked up bursts of clouds and heat, obscuring her vision and causing her to fly back some. Pointing Artherion at the dust cloud, Keroko waited for anything to come out of it.
Sure enough, two of the smaller creatures came out of the dust, covered by a spine burst sent directly at Keroko. The mage barely dodged in time, the ends of her Jacket caught by a few of the spines and tearing it to shreds. The momentum of the spines forced her into a spin, loosening flight control and and essentially causing Keroko to "stall" for a few moments, sending her plummeting to the ground. Recovering from the stall just millimeters from the ground, Keroko lifted her Device just as it shouted [Forcefield!], lifting a barrier as the surviving smaller creatures attacked, digging their claws into the magical barrier as if it were solid before leaping off, just as the larger monster shot another salvo of spines.
Keroko dropped the field and activated Drive Move, leaping straight into the air and regaining her so-called "high ground". Conjuring her magic circle, Keroko locked on the two smaller creatures several times, and the larger one even more. Holding her Device high above her head, she and Artherion simultaneously shouted "Blast Lancer!"; sending another burst of spiraling red energy beams at her opponents. The beams homed in and completely wiped out the two smaller monsters, leaving smoking craters. The third one surprised Keroko by slamming its carapace shut and bowing its head, allowing the beams to slam into it head-on.
More dust clouds were kicked up, and Keroko raised another Forcefield as a precautionary measure. Sure enough, another salvo of spines slammed in to her, these numerous enough to shatter the field and forcing her to dodge. Twisting in midair, Keroko watched, eyes wide and as if in slow motion, as several of the spines flew just by her vision, spinning slowly.
Using her momentum, the Aspect Mage twirled the ID overhead and stopped standing sideways, pointing the weapon down at the monster. "Okay, so you can survive that," she muttered as magic energy began to collect between the two prongs, jumping between the two as if electrified. Keroko fired a cartridge, boosting her magic power significantly as she locked on to the monster, which "reloaded" and raised its carapace again. "Don't think so; Ion Blaster!" Both fighters fired at the same time; a bright red beam sailed from Keroko and hit true as spines shot up toward the mage, most vaporized in the process. The monster screeched in pain as the ion beam vaporized it to mere dust particles, and Keroko herself had to stop from screaming as a few of the surviving spines impacted dead-on. Her Barrier Jacket seemed useless as the spines tore through it like it wasn't there, digging into and through her; one spine went in her shoulder from the side and exited the top, splattering blood all over her face.
Keroko dropped Artherion on reflex, disrupting the spell despite the damage already being done. Clutching her shoulder in pain, the mage lowered herself to the ground as she fought off shock and tried to stem the blood loss. She hit the ground with a thud, kicking up a small cloud of dust. Keroko collapsed and rolled on to her side, coughing up a small amount of blood. "D-damnit... that hurt... Where's Scrya when you need him?"
[Sir, I have fifteen contacts coming from the inside of the bio-mass.]Artherion announced as the mage reached over and grabbed him. [They are advancing at a rapid rate. I suggest retreat.]
"No kiddin'," Keroko said as she used the staff to stand up. "Where are... oh..."
Fifteen shapes came out, each more gruesome than the last. They appeared to be human - or at least, once have been human. Instead of a normal shape, these things were hunched over and walked like a malformed hunchback, with one leg practically dragging the entire body. Huge lumps of flesh adorned the upper body; formerly human flesh just pushed aside. Many of them had intact heads, and one was intact enough for Keroko to recognize the face; it was one of the people who had gone missing. Or was. The fact that many of them had their chest cavities ripped open, with one of the smaller monsters seemingly attached to it and peering out from the opening, made it clear that these people weren't human.
"So that thing... was gonna try and control me, huh?" She asked herself. "It... They... infected... all of these people. But... how?"
One of the former-humans leaped into the air, lifting a monstrous malformed arm that resembled a spiked club. The Aspect Mage didn't even have to ask if it was trying to be hostile. As it flew through the air over its comrades, Keroko lifted Artherion weakly and fired two cartridges.
"Kill them all," she droned as unconsciousness treatened to take her.
[Yes, sir. Orbital Bombardment.]
There was a giant flash of red, followed by the sound of thunder.
The only thing that really glared at me was Keroko calling Yuuno 'Scrya' Keroko is on the same level of friendship as Nanoha with him.
On the subject of Orbital Bombardement, I feel a little more in-dept explanation is long due. the spell's apearrance could be described similar to a low-powered but faster Hraesvelgr. A large magical cirle apears in front of Keroko, with six slightly smaller circles around it. Magical beams then form on the edge of the circles, and fire. When firing, the beams follow the circle's pattern, giving it somewhat of a resemblanse to a lot of gattling guns firing at a slow rate. The area of effect is dependant on the height of which the attack is fired. The higher it is, the wider the area of effect.
TEARS OF THE NORTHERN WIND
CHAPTER 13
The dragons roared and attacked Nanoha in unison. The Ace was under pressure, having been forced to do everything she could to outwit the dragons while dodging relentless attacks fired from the ground by Halcyon. Armstrong, could not approach her as he, too, was busy fending off Halcyon’s relentless melee attacks.
“If I keep on dodging like this, I won’t be able to finish this now!!” She continued dodging all the attacks the dragons were aiming at. Neither the beast, nor Halcyon, were showing any sign of tiring down, as they kept throwing everything at the Ace.
Finally Nanoha had it enough. “Exceed Mode is not just for show!!” she shouted and called forth the Blaster Booster Bits. “Blaster Three! IKKE!!” The bits combined and formed a funnel-like projection shooter around Raising Heart, and their energy combined with Nanoha’s Linked Core.
“DIVINE... BUSTER!!!”
The overly powerful Divine Buster hit one of the dragons, and a chain reaction followed as Nanoha destroyed the Narulian beasts in row, one dragon after another. The attack dissipated soon afterwards, and all that was left of the dragons were only dust.
Nanoha turned to Halcyon. “...” She reloaded Raising Heart and aimed it at the humanoid. Her eyes were glowing coldly as she glowered at Halcyon. “Enough of your resistance, Halcyon. Stop doing this now.”
Halcyon was appalled. She could not believe the balance of power was shifting away from her. In fury she fired multitudes of Plasma Lancers, Eis Sarg and Reppuken at Nanoha, attacking the ace from every angle she could reach. Nimbly, despite under intense fire, Nanoha dodged all the attacks, counterattacking those he could not outrun with Blaster Bits-aided Accel Shooters.
“Useless!”
Halcyon turned around, and was knocked out of her attacking move as Armstrong kicked her on the chest. He charged Forneus in lightning energy and pounced at the Lost Logia, repelling more and more of the humanoid’s attacks with Plasma Wall.
Armstrong had come close to Halcyon.
“Zankantou!”
And he cleaved Halcyon into halves with a hard vertical spinning slash.
“RAIKOU GIRI!!”
The attack, instead, hit Halcyon’s duplicates, yet nevertheless her face was showing a level of fear unlike anything else after barely dodging the killing blow by a hair’s breadth.
Armstrong returned to the battlefield. “Halcyon!” he shouted and pointed Forneus at Halcyon. “If you’re really intending to destroy this world, then I shall prevent that event from happening!” Halcyon became too enraged and fired a Divine Buster that was swiftly cleaved after Armstrong swung Forneus into the particle beam. The “ojiichan” returned fire and counterattacked with a hundred or so Voltage Shooters, which hit Halcyon so hard she was soon knocked out of the air. Armstrong wasted no time and cast Lightning Bind onto the humanoid, preventing her from crashing into the ground (and, subsequently, escaping).
“I will… never lose… to you human…” Halcyon spoke, her voice started to become distorted and mixed with synthesized sounds, and moaned as the magical bind tightened. “Even if… my body is destroyed… I shall not give in…” To Armstrong and Nanoha’s surprise Halcyon twitched and moaned seemingly in pain as she clutched her head. “My body! What’s happening to my body?”
“[Halcyon’s automated defence program has overtaken her body! Be careful!]” Yuuno warned.
Without warning Halcyon, having been overtaken by the automated defensive program and her rage, broke free from Lightning Bind and fired a gigantic Divine Buster at Nanoha. She did not see it coming, and when the pillar of light was three feet before her face she was already preparing to fire a defensive Divine Buster.
“Shin! CRESCENT STORM!!!”
The Raising Storm-lookalike enclosed Nanoha and absorbed the monstrous Divine Buster into the wall of wind. Shocked and appalled, Halcyon was hit by five consecutive Kami Reppuken fired from inside the Crescent Storm and was sent far away from the ‘storm cage’.
The dusts dissipated. And the caster of the Crescent Storm revealed himself to all those who could see.
“M… master Hikki?!” Halcyon gasped.
Dazed, stunned but otherwise unharmed. He stood before Nanoha in defensive posture, magic symbols spinning in front of his palms. “Took a long time for the device to calibrate with my power,” Hikki spoke and dropped his hands. “You okay?” Nanoha could only nod, too shocked at the unexpected, almost dramatic, entry. “Well, save the thanks for later,” he said and turned his attention to Halcyon. “That lady needs to learn a thing or two.”
“Impossible!” Halcyon fired Plasma Lancers at the apparently unprotected Hikki, and was horrified as he effortlessly swiped the projectiles away from him with Reppuken. “You’re supposed to be dead!”
“Dead?” Hikki wagged a finger as to say ‘no’. “So explain why you wanted to protect me so much from everyone. I bet you’re just lying to yourself, aren’t you?” Halcyon fired another Divine Buster, which he effortlessly dodged. “I don’t know what grudge you have against Nanoha, and I don’t know why you wanted to kill her so badly,” he spoke. “But… but she has nothing to do with this.”
“But she wanted to harm you!” Halcyon protested.
“It was you who wanted to harm everyone!” he screamed. “You thought by eliminating everything on this world you would fulfill your duty as a Servant, but you were wrong!” He paused, noticing that Halcyon began to lose faith in her beliefs. “Enough of all these, Halcyon. Father had told me everything about you. You want to live with me, right?”
Halcyon frowned. “Master Hikki, I…” Before she could finish her sentence, she writhed and screamed in deafening pain, her body become visually “distorted” by encrypted codes. It continued, even while residual magic energy encircled her in colourful ribbons until they wrapped the humanoid. Slowly the Queen of Dark Gale transformed into an entirely different entity.
“What the hell?” Hikki gasped. “Halcyon!”
Halcyon disappeared. What had replaced her was a bio-mechanical monster that came as if from the lowest level of Machine Hell. “What kind of thing is that?!” Nanoha exclaimed.
“God help us,” Armstrong murmured.
Its demonic wings flapping, the flame-coated whip cracking, the monster roared and started its attack sprees. It breathed fireballs, shot lightning bolts and spewed ice shards at Hikki in blind fury, cracking whips all the way to hit its tiny target. The Gale Whistler dodged but was unable to return fire due to the ferocity of the attack. “This is the defensive program Chrono Falken had told me,” he thought and charged at the monster but was stopped dead by the monster’s whiplash. He called forth the gale sword he had used in the fated duel against Nagalintar. “This is not fair. You! Give her back to me! NOW!” The monster roared and swung the whip at him. The Gale Whistler dodged, counterattacked and repelled the whiplash, unable to get close to it or Halcyon.
“He can’t beat that monster alone!” Nanoha shouted and prepared the Blaster Bits for another firing run; the ferocity of the fight between the monster and the Gale Whistler, however, prevented her from aiming. Armstrong, too, did not open fire as dust was blocking his line of sight. “Damn it! We can’t even get close!”
Hikki evaded the monster’s whip, and was jumping high over its head. He saw what looked like a glass box on the monster’s forehead, and noticed the glimpse of Halcyon sealed inside. “That’s her!! Now! Kami Reppuken!” To his horror, the temporary device malfunctioned and his energy started going out of control. “Damn it! Not at this time!”
“Hikki! Behind you!!”
Unknown to him, the monster caught him with the flame whip and flung him deep into the ground. The impact was massive, and although he survived Hikki was experiencing excessive pain. The monster brought him back to its vicious mouth, growling in menace at the unwanted interference.
“Crap. Now what?” he groaned.
“CHESTOOOOAAA!!!!!”
The monster’s hand was severed after Armstrong cleaved its limb with Divine Voltage. As soon as he was set free, Hikki made a quick recovery and leapt onto the monster’s head. He approached the glass casing, punched the protective layer and pulled Halcyon out of the cavity.
“I have her now! Both of you, do whatever you have to do!!” He jumped to safety, and both the Aces delivered powerful attacks onto the monster, sending it deep into the ground. He landed, and, with Halcyon still securely held in his arms, he knelt and put the locket-shaped device on her neck. “Should I do this? Sealing Halcyon forever?” he whispered, and watched as the locket glowed. “Mother, what would do if you were in my shoes?”
“Master...” He looked down. Halcyon had woken up, and she was smiling weakly to him. “Your order... Master?” she asked, her voice as soft as a wind chime, a striking contrast from how she sounded when she was “that merciless”.
“Halcyon wasn’t your real name, was it?” Halcyon could only nod. “Then what did mother call you back then?”
Halcyon smiled widely at the question and wound her arms around his neck as she whispered, “you are my Master. You can call me anything you desire.”
“I have no time for that, but...” He paused as to stare into Halcyon’s bright eyes. “I’ll call you Widuri. Is it alright?”
“[Hikki! What are you doing? Seal her this instant!]”
Hikki did not answer Nagalintar, as he was sunned after Halcyon gave a soft kiss on his cheek. “Thank you. You really are Master Bayu’s beloved child, the true Gale Whistler.” The humanoid Unison Device into the air and clung onto Hikki’s hands as shining gauntlets; at the same time of the “unification” she changed his dresses into a Holy Orders uniform.
“Unison complete. Executing Battle Mode.”
The transformation was brief, and it completed just in time the monster lost control over itself and fired random shots everywhere. Nanoha and Armstrong had been knocked out of the air, the former spinning out of control before Hikki caught her. “That’s the second time I saved you,” Hikki said as he held Nanoha in his arms.
“Hikki! You... changed,” Nanoha gasped. “What has happened?”
“I’ll tell you later,” he said and put her back on the ground. He, then, turned his attention to the berserk monster. “Let’s see what you’re really made of, Widuri.”
“Certainly, Master.”
He turned to a direction, as if looking at someone from faraway. “Sorry, Father,” he told Nagalintar, “I know you’re watching, but this time, I have to finish whatever that has started.”
“[...]”
“Are you angry at me?”
“[It cannot be helped, after all. Go, Hikki. You know what you must do.]”
He grinned. “Well, then,” he spoke and cracked his fists. “Whoever here wants to taste the fury of the storm?”
He jumped at the uncontrollable monster and fired torrents of Reppuken that barraged the monster from altitude; he changed mode of attack and proceeded to pound the monster in close range.
“DEADLY RAVE!!!”
Hikki attacked. And in less than a minute, hundreds of precision-based attack with thousands of pounds of destruction severed the monster's internal organs and disrupted its vitals, and the monster was pushed across the battlefield as Hikki ended the manoeuvre with an energy blast onto the monster's chest.
“Eat this!!!” Hikki fired a Kami Reppuken at the monster. The crippled artificially created beast lost its left limb as the projectile cut through. Hikki fired another Kami Reppuken that destroyed the monster’s horns before ending the manoeuvre with a gale arrow.
“I’m not done yet!” He pounced at the stunned monster. “Squall!! BREAKER!!” The powerful point-blank punch destroyed the monster’s barrier and sent compressed energy into the monster’s body, severely damaging its vitals. He jumped away from the monster as Nanoha and Armstrong each fired Accel Shooters and Sacred Edges at the monster.
“[Regeneration energy is detected from the monster!!]”
“What?” Hikki, Nanoha and Armstrong looked at the monster, appalled to see it growing back limbs and reattaching horns. “Alright. What are we supposed to do now?” Hikki demanded.
“I really don’t want to do that again...”
Hikki turned to Nanoha. “What are you talking of?”
“It’s just like the last time...” Nanoha clenched the staff of Raising Heart. “When Yami no Sho appeared and threatened to destroy the world, we... we were forced to fight her and...” She looked at Armstrong. “Isn’t there anything else we can do, Ojiichan? Isn’t there anything... to end this?”
Armstrong lifted Forneus. “Unless we have a better alternative, then history is going to repeat itself.” He looked at himself, Nanoha and Hikki. “Fate and Hayate haven’t recovered yet. Looks like it’s up to the three of us to end this atrocity.”
“[Humans, I have words to speak with you.]” Nanoha and Armstrong were startled when Nagalintar’s voice echoed inside his head. “[The beast – or defensive mechanism system as you choose to call – cannot be destroyed by all regular means. It must be first cut off from all contacts with the timeline.]”
“Are you kidding me? We don’t have the kind of ability to seal the monster,” Nanoha interjected.
“[My son will help,]” Nagalintar replied.
“Father, you took away the Chronograph power. How am I supposed to Time Halt the thing?” Hikki replied in shock. “Even if... Widuri can help, I don’t know how.”
There was a slight chuckle as Nagalintar revealed the answer. “[Neither did your mother, and yet she defeated me when we first met. If she could do it, so can you.]”
Hikki was doubtful. “How?”
“[Revealing it to you would be unfair to both of them,]” Nagalintar replied. “[You have to learn to solve the problem yourself.]”
“We don’t have much time for that!” Armstrong barked when the monster suddenly hurled itself towards the trio. Panicked, Nanoha aimed Raising Heart at the monster to fire a desperate Divine Buster, but Hikki had already acted firsthand and fired massive Kami Reppuken salvoes onto the monster. The attacks brought the monster off track and crashed into a hill instead.
“Casting Gleipnir Strings.”
Hikki threw the magical chains at the monster and bound it onto the ground, denying its movement. “If I can’t do this...” He opened stance and pounced at the monster. “THEN NOBODY ELSE CAN! SQUALL BREAKER!!!” Again, the single-hit punch broke through the monster’s defence, but this time Hikki went further and continued with a devastating Deadly Rave attack run.
“ORA-ORA-ORA-ORA-ORA-ORA-ORA-ORA-ORA-ORA-ORA!!!!”
Hikki ended the manoeuvre with his third Squall Breaker and left the monster crippled. “The monster has lost its defensive capability! Now!” Taking no risk of not complying, Nanoha fired the Blaster-aided Divine Buster, while Armstrong’s Divine Voltage Forneus extended to a great length and slammed onto the monster. The force of the combination attack destroyed the monster’s outer shell and exposed its core to the outside world.
“Forneus, Plasma Wall!” The Device shot plasma-generated energy barrier at the core and sealed it from the outside world. Nanoha did the same and cast spelling binds to further restrict the core’s movement. “If what the Dragon God said is true, then all we have to do is...”
They turned to Hikki; by now he had opened his arms in a stance reminiscent to that of Time Halt. “I know I no longer have the Chronograph power inside of me,” he spoke, even as the gales inside his hand turned colour to crystal clear. “But that doesn’t mean I can’t kick ass as usual! Widuri!”
“Entering Jentayu Mode.”
“Let’s end this once and for all!” he declared. “HISSATSU!!”
Everything happened too fast. Hikki had already pounced into the barricade, and was flying away from the core, the crystal gale enveloping the heart-like entity in ribbons. He landed far from the core, hand lifted as to let the wind ribbons to undo themselves.
“Can you hear it?”
His fingers snapped.
“The voice of the whistling gale?”
The gale ribbons disintegrated, and together brought the core into its demise as they dissolved in thin air and, as Nagalintar had mentioned, “erased” from existence. At the same time, remains of the dragons, as well as the hemispherical dome that had encased the area since the start of the battle, began to disappear.
(“The whistling gale...” Nagalintar murmured as he watched the battle from a distance. “The only ability that could counteract my Chronograph power. And also... the only ability to be passed down to generations through bloodline.”
He chuckled when he remembered the event that led to the witnessing of the whistling gale. “Bayu....” He looked up into the night sky, where the northern lights had appeared to illuminate the darkness. “Our child has grown up to a person you had longed to see.”)
Hikki dropped onto his knees. The execution of all the attacks had drained most of his energy, and he had only a little to keep his consciousness. “That was... almost close...”
“Master Hikki!” Widuri disengaged from Hikki and took back her humanoid appearance. “Are you alright?”
He signaled a thumb’s up. “You already know, right?” He gathered his breath and gazed into Widuri’s eyes. “Say, Widuri.”
“Yes, Master Hikki?”
“I...” He lost consciousness and fell onto her. “...I think I need to sleep...” The Unison Device was startled, as so did Nanoha and Armstrong who had rushed towards him. Halcyon, formerly the Queen of Dark Gale, could not say anything as Hikki involuntarily wrapped his arms around her as to seek protection from her.
“Master Hikki...” She giggled. As gently as she could muster, she cuddled the sleeping boy. Tears slowly fell down her cheeks and dropped onto Hikki’s face. “I’m so sorry for hurting you, Master...” she whispered and tightened the embrace.
Then she smiled. “...and thank you...”
finally acquired SRW Alpha 3 OST & Dragonforce CD. Awesome to the max!
... All is well on Hikki's part, but you do realise that you just blew up another few percentages of Nanoha's magic capacity, right? You may not have made her use Starlight Breaker, but simply using Blaster 3 already puts tremendous strength on the user.
- Dropped the entire shouts section, leaving out the skills that resemble other Zamber effects, and added these skills to be used with a Zamber blade:
Riot Slash - This strengthens Fate's swing, allowing her to deliver a clean slice through the midsection.
Riot Saber – Fate uses additional mana to enlarge the Riot Zamber into a larger katana-like blade. She then swings it, releasing what seems like a giant version of the ranged mode of Haken Saber.
Thunder Reversal – Fate performs a giant vertical strike from below the opponent and then performing a swift horizontal strike almost simultaneously, then finishes with a strike of lightning from above or from her hand for a good measure. This attack resembles Artei's Tsubame Gaeshi, but it is not know if Fate had consciously borrowed Artei's skill.
Sparkcleaver – Fate would perform a series of rapid slashes, before ending with a clean, vertical cut. It is Fate's variation of Saber's Mooncleaver attack.
- I am still debating the removal of Super Spiral Space GARlock Bardiche, if only for the finger pointing it does to Zone's existence. What do you guys think about this?
Any other issues to point out?
Do a Kyousuke Nanbu instead.
The names are also more computable now.
Any of the two would be fine. Though I'd prefer he teach maths. So he'll be part of the Raising Heart storyline too?
Hmm
Never has that emote been more apropriate.
Maybe I should edit my profile too, and have people wonder and wonder untill they finally decide to ask.
Amusingly enough...
Why not? :3 It'll be fun seeing their reactions.
Not me though, the only people whom I mistook in their genders were Nagumo (I thought she was a he) and PhoenixFlare (whom I thought was a girl). Remember feeling scammed, Tormenk?
'While not an outright tactical genius, Aurion is actually on par with those like Tesla in tactical abillity' A bit of a paradox, concidering Tesla is a tactical genius.
Editing it as well. I'll factor in more experience in even the tactical sense for Aurion's case.
So...
Aurion = Quick learner that excelled in tactics thru extensive study
Tesla = Natural tactical genius
Of course, if you'd rather have the old version, than just tell me.:P
One of the main rules with traps you should remember is that they don't just 'stop' being traps, because to stop being a trap would mean changing who they are.
... Which does not compute. We now Aurion is the old guy, but making him go 'washi' would make him the old geezer, which does not compute.
Minor character, I need teacher names. He's not going to be seriously involved (at least not in Raising Heart, I don't know about Kha's project).
Unfortunately I can only switch it to 'unspecified' oh well, we'll just have to make do.
I was thinking more along the lines of 'while quick to learn, Aurion is not a tactical genius. Most of his victories against tactical genius Tesla are due to the fact that their competitions range from normal games to mind games, in which Aurion excells'
Bah, I'm not going to act different then from how I am now. There are various levels of traps, Jun for example is the most extreme case, a typical 'girl in a guys body' I myself am more the 'guy with a few feminine quallities' type. Or so I choose to believe.
