aye, the ancient greek gods (and many other pantheons) were a bunch of goofballs that would have fit right into modern comic book assemblies of angsty-ridden superheroes or soap operas.
Then there's the story of Thor cross-dressing and ending being the bride at a wedding. All campfire storytelling at its best.

Even ancient heroes were like that...
Hercules was prone to aggression (which eventually led him to killing his children and wife) and alcohol, Achilles was narcissistic as hell, even Odyssey who probably had the most pleasant image from all heroes was ruthless and unforgiving. The Gods starting with drunktard Dionysus and ending with adulterer Dzeus were of no better. The only religions that tried to make God as distant from humans as possible were the religions of witting (Christianity, Islam etc.). But those were the anomalies. Usually the religions gods had a lot of human characteristics, so in this sense the image of goddesses in Kannagi is actually more true towards how ancient gods should act. |
