So is that the new Alchemist PROJECT? From what I'm seeing it's a retelling of the first four episodes...the lack of any characters past episode 4 is a HINT. Of course this is just pure speculation on my PART.

Gah, I'm glad and not glad that's it's for PS3, because I'll certainly be tempted to purchase it thanks to it being on a region-free system. The only problem with this is that I won't actually be able to read it, but knowing the Umineko story like the back of my hand will help a bit, I suppose.
Rest in peace, my wallet. |

I will always be a fan of the classic art over the alchemist art. It's just not a Ryukishi game without it. Even with the ham hands in Higurashi.
IIRC Alchemist did do all of the arcs in Higurashi though and and added some original ones of their own so I don't think that would be a hint that they're only doing 1-4. Just that they haven't done the core arcs art yet. EDIT: I'd expect that they won't do that art for awhile though since the core arcs aren't yet finished. Last edited by Judoh; 2010-09-13 at 23:41. |

I know THAT. I'm just saying what I see so far, who knows what'll pop up NEXT. I will admit, I do enjoy Ryuukishi's art alot more than what I am SEEING. If Alchemist does do some original arcs it would probably answer questions Ryuukishi refuses to answer with his WORKS.

Details from the conference
Remake of Umineko 1-4 for PS3 1920 x 1080 native resolution New art, etc. BGM is untouched VOICES ARE ****ING CONFIRMED The Alchemist portraits we've been seeing are... COMPLETELY UNRELATED TO UMINEKO. They're for an erogame called Gal Gun where you shoot girls with something and they make erotic noises. And other such minigames. As best I can tell, I sort of skipped around the video to see if there was any reason for it to be Umineko-tied. |

Is it me, or is this artist kind of bad at drawing hands too, but in a different way from ryukishi?
Look at the perspective in shots where people have their hands extended in directions that aren't side to side. They're all messed up and off.

I don't see any reason to play this new version. The new arts tyle lacks all the charm of the previous. And just as two random sticking points:
1. You have to admit that this looks totally stupid. 2. Where's fat George?! I also don't think image CGs for gore make it more powerful. Instead, they make it less powerful. It's far more impacting to simply describe the scene and let the reader's imagination create the picture. |

In comparison to Battler's skinny hour glass figure in the alchemist art George is pretty damn chubby. I actually don't have a problem with how they drew George in this art style surprisingly. Strangely enough I absolutely hate the art they have for Eva, Jessica, and Hideyoshi. They look, like they were trying too hard to make them look realistic. Whereas they did a good job of making George look cool with his foggy glasses sprites to me. And it looks like they represented his personality well with the art. That's just my opinion tho. EDIT: Oh and Krauss looks AWESOME in the alchemist art for some reason. He just looks so badass with his hand in his pocket like that and I don't even think that was supposed to be intentional. Natsuhi's art is just sort of meh...
