Russian investor’s $3 million prize for physics

Vexx would probably qualify if he is allowed to speak out about his high-density munition hyperaccelerator and repurpose it for launching exploration modules into space.

Payback Against China:
"The U.S. is being more open about its growing body of evidence documenting Chinese Cyber War attacks on America and the West. This openness was prompted by a Wikileaks emails from last year that made reference to U.S. and European efforts to track the growing number of hacker attacks on government and military organizations. The emails revealed that Western computer security officials have been increasingly aware of details of the Chinese efforts over the last five years. Until the Wikileaks incident, this was kept secret because the Chinese have been careful to hide their hacks, if only so they could return and not have to work their way through much stronger defenses. The Chinese hackers also kept a low profile because their governments' only response to victims was "it wasn't us, we know nothing, we are being hacked too." That last item is true, the first two are not." See: http://www.strategypage.com/htmw/hti.../20120805.aspx |

For the aviation buffs out there.
"We didn’t know what 90 percent of the switches did"
"John Manclark was the commander of the 4477th Test & Evaluation Squadron from 1985-87. At the time, a few of us who took an unhealthy interest in such matters knew a bit about what 4477TES was, to wit: It flew Soviet aircraft, and it was secret. (Later, early internet searches started to reveal odd details of biographies, such as Manclark's claim to have flown the YF-110 and YF-113.) Some details of the program were declassified in 2006. It was codenamed Constant Peg, Constant after the callsign of Maj Gen Hoyt Vandenberg Jr and Peg being the wife of Col Gail Peck, another of its founders." See: http://www.aviationweek.com/Blogs.as...3-fff9b8f2f73d A few more quotes: "On the MiG-21: "It had no gas – a point-defense fighter. "We didn’t know what 90 percent of the switches did. We changed the ASI and parts of the oxygen system. We had one switch that we just labeled BOMB EXPLODE." ""The MiG-23 was a nightmare, maintenance was a nightmare. The guys hated flying it, and we checked people out when they had 3-5 months left." ""In 1987 we had the AIM-9P, which was designed to reject flares, and when we used US flares against it would ignore them and go straight for the target. We had the Soviet flares – they were dirty, and none of them looked the same – and the AIM-9P said 'I love that flare'." |

I remember reading about this. This was a secret pilot program that tested Soviet jets that they got either from defectors or other means in order to understand how Soviet jets work so the US can have counter measures against them.

Can't wait for when it gets to canadian banks and android service. I wouldn't have to plan out when it's convenient to deposit my cheques anymore. (Such a pain, BMO moved to all the weird places that I don't visit) |

Seriously though, that's an astounding tech story. You don't often see how technology can really help one individual person. You hear or read about it, but not often do you see it. Very awesome video. |
