I’ve decided to go Fate/Zero sober on this one. I still think it’s the best of the year but only marginally and I want to give the others a better shot.
-{A1}- [Best Storyline & Plot] Tsuritama And the only one on this list that I nominated was Fate/Zero so great start there. XP-{A2}- [Best Visuals & Animation] Hyouka Hyouka is the only one I nominated here and Hyouka is the one I think is the best anyway so no qualms there. Chuunibyou is just a slightly lesser version of Hyouka imo, and whilst Nisemonogatari has some nice art, I think I’ve grown a little too used to the Shaft style to be wowed at it now.-{B0}- [Best Action-Adventure] Oda Nobuna no Yabou Horray! Two of my nominations made it through and I’m not voting for either one of them! This time I’ll give my vote for Nobuna. Anyone who’s seen it and knows me will understand why. But hey action is pretty damn awesome and Madhouse really seems to have a knack for it. I nominated Jormungand but I never once thought the action was particularly gripping. I mainly nominated it for its style of “adventure”. The action in Mirai Nikki, I mostly just thought was silly.-{B1}- [Best Fantasy] Natsume Yuujinchou Shi Another category where two of my nominations made it through. Guess I’ll vote for one of them...-{B2}- [Best Science Fiction] Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita So it’s no surprise that I’ll vote for Jinrui now. Well it’s the only one that I nominated anyway. I’ve seen all the others but I never even really liked them.-{B3}- [Best Horror] Gyo Gyo is the only one I nominated for on this list so Gyo is the one I’ll go for. Like I said before, “I could have maybe put in Mirai Nikki or Another in there but with the latter deteriorating into a perversely entertaining blood sport and the former being one from the get go, I didn’t really want to...”. Tasogare could be a little creepy at times but the weird lovey-dovey romance makes me hard to take it as a true horror. I really wished Wasurenagumo made it through...-{B4}- [Best Mystery] Hyouka I nominated Hyouka and UN-GO and although it’s a close call for me, I’ll have to stick with Hyouka on this one. UN-GO was clever but Hyouka was both clever and successfully created an innovative take on detective fiction.-{B5}- [Best Drama] Sakamichi no Apollon Err...I know I said Kokoro Connect was more pure drama but now I’m not so sure. On further inspection, it seems most of the drama was actually based on the romance. I didn’t nominate Apollon before because I thought it was more slice of life but upon further consideration it does seem like more of a drama. Imo, Chihayafuru had the best drama but all that drama was either Sports based or Romance based so I can’t really vote for that. And Tari Tari is more of a Slice of Life to me.-{B6}- [Best Romance] Ano Natsu de Matteru It was a very tough call between Ano Natsu and Tonari but Ano Natsu just wins out. I liked the romance in Chuunibyou but I didn’t think it was anything special. I liked that show more for its comedy. Nazo no Kanojo X, I just never liked. Everybody else seemed to enjoy it but it was just too bizarre for me. I get what it was trying to achieve but I could just never appreciate it.-{B7}- [Best Comedy] Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita They’re all great really, but Jinrui is definitely a cut above the rest. Though, I would’ve liked to have seen Zombie Desuka in there since it had one of the funniest scenes I’ve ever seen in my life.-{B8}- [Best Slice of Life] Hyouka In terms of slice of life Hyouka, Tari Tari and Tsuritama are all pretty strong contenders but as with the above, I definitely think Hyouka is a cut above the rest.-{B9}- [Best Sports] Chihayafuru Don’t really think there’s a lot to say here...-{C1}- [Best TV Series] Chihayafuru An extremely close call between Hyouka and Chihayafuru but I reckon Chihayafuru is just ever so slightly better. Nice to see a category where all my nominations made it through, though.-{C2}- [Best OVA] One Off Not an inspiring choice if I’m honest. Funnily enough I actually hadn’t wanted any of these when the results came in and i needed to watch some of them in order to get some proper pictures (You have no idea how seriously I took carefully picking all 95 pictures). Arata Naru Sekai was interesting but predictably the OVA wasn’t enough on its own. The only other one I’ve seen is One Off which is a nice little story even if it’s nothing amazing. I dropped Nunnally in Wonderland after 2 minutes...-{C3}- [Best Movie] UN-GO episode:0 Inga-ron Another category where all my nominations made it through. I know I gave the FMA film the 2 points in the previous round but this time I’ll give my vote to the Un-Go film. Hotarubi was nice but I didn’t think it was as good as the other two.-{D1}- [Best Female Lead] Watashi If Watashi doesn’t completely run away with this category then I’ll be very surprised and I don’t see why she shouldn’t. Don’t get me wrong: Shizuku and Chihaya are great too but they simply wouldn’t last a minute with Watashi.-{D2}- [Best Male Lead] Taichi Mashima I think Taichi is the best here but I actually have no qualm who wins this category since I think they’re all great characters-{D3}- [Best Antagonist] Kotomine Kirei Yeah, I know what I said. But the fact of the matter is that he blows all competition out of the water. I just can’t not vote for this guy...-{D4}- [Best Side-Character] Satoshi Fukube Natsume is a wonderful character, but in the end I’m more partial to Satoshi.-{D5}- [Best World Setting] Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita To be honest none of these settings, even Jinrui, wowed me as much as the others that I actually nominated for. Shame none of those went through. Horizon, I just thought was a mess when it came to explaining anything whilst Accel World and Sword Art Online had a lot of wasted potential to them. And I’m always partial to fantastical world building so I really wanted to like those three too. Jinrui is definitely the strongest of the lot.-{D6}- [Best Credits Theme] Sakamichi no Melody It’s the only one I nominated but that’s fine because it’s the one I gave two points for so it’s the one I wanted to vote for anyway.-{D7}- [Best Soundtrack] Guilty Crown It really does pain me that I’d vote for Guilty Crown over Sakamichi no Apollon in anything and the Soundtrack category should definitely be the one area it shouldn’t be losing but the fact of the matter is that I’ve spent way more time listing to Guilty Crown tracks. In fact I’m still listening to them even now. Horizon had a pretty decent track though. Probably the biggest thing I liked about it.-{D8}- [Best Ongoing Series] Psycho-Pass I was genuinely surprised when I saw that Sakurasou managed to make it in this category. I’ve got nothing against it and heck I like it too since it is pretty unique in its portrayal of ambitions, talents, people who have them and people who don’t. But still, seeing it along side shows like Psycho-Pass and Shin Sekai Yori is definitely odd imo. I didn’t realise it was that well received.

-{A1}- [Best Storyline & Plot]
Whereas Fate Zero was indeed engaging, the interesting points of the series were rather the interactions of the characters, as "surprising" as it may be and in the end, the plot is rather complimenting the rest than really the main factor of the series for me. -{A2}- [Best Visuals & Animation]
Fate/Zero was smooth for the fights, but had noticeable design consistency issue at times, and various stillframe tricks used left and right (Tokiyomi "cave" is the prominent example of that). Now between Chuunibyou and Hyouka, I favored Chuunibyou due to how consistent and energic it was, whereas Hyouka was more stylish and photographic, which were quite good, but I appreciated Chuunibyou much more on the visual aspect, exactly because it was quirky, regardless if it was during an intensive sakuga portion, or even casuals parts. -{B0}- [Best Action-Adventure]
-{B1}- [Best Fantasy]
As for the rest, Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita delivers the genre way better than the rest. -{B2}- [Best Science Fiction]
Accel World had a very good setup, but had some identity crisis in term of exposure, where Mouretsu Pirates had challenged my suspension of disbelief way too much for my liking. Meanwhile, Horizon was rich (maybe too much?) and had a lot of concept and points straight from sci fi, with little twist added in there (history reenactment etc). -{B4}- [Best Mystery]
TOxA is hardly anything "mysterious" if you ask me. Meanwhile, while Hyouka is hardly anything close to a serious collection of mystery stories and the likes, the appealing fashion in presenting the "mysteries" at end and the solutions are quite good, however mundane the initial problem was. In fact, it was quite interesting and refreshing that the series didn't rely on overly complicated situations to pick the interest of the audiance. -{B7}- [Best Comedy]
-{C1}- [Best TV Series]
-{D1}- [Best Female Lead]
-{D2}- [Best Male Lead]
-{D3}- [Best Antagonist]

-{D6}- [Best Credits Theme]
-{D7}- [Best Soundtrack]
Sawano's work in Guilty Crown was the saving grace of the series along with the visuals, yet a good bunch of the tracks are a tad unbalanced, and some chorus are a bit tedious. I unfortunately didn't watch Sakamichi no Apollon. Meanwhile (I guess I'm already branded as a fanboy already ), Katou's work in Horizon is really astonishing and complements quite well the various mood of the series: distincts tunes depending of the faction (stark difference between Musashi and England tracks), on spot ambiant BGM, and a lot of epic tracks (my favorite are: Jud., Save you from Anything, Yuuki Motetachimukau, Semaru Unmei no Ashioto yo) So really, a godlike OST with various tracks, with hardly anything repetitive (even compared to S1 ost) and complimenting quite well the events ongoing in S2. Categories I didn't vote for:

I still haven't seen Fate/Zero, and I just can't spend the time trying to binge any show right now, certainly not a two cour with a precursor season. So I guess I'll be a little biased in my voting.
-{A1}- [Best Storyline & Plot]
Chihayafuru is the only one I've seen. I actually liked the plot in Chihayafuru. It seemed tightly written and well designed to show off the characters. It's not the type of plot I usually go for awarding (I tend to favor twisty plots) but I'm fine recognizing it. Interested in seeing Fate/Zero -{A2}- [Best Visuals & Animation]
Geeze... again only one that I have seen. Nisemonogatari wasn't my top pick either. I guess I really should check out the Kyo-ani shows. I might actually watch an episode or two of Hyouka and then come back to change my vote. EDIT: Okay, one episode of Hyouka has won me over. I vote for that one. Interested in Hyouka -{B0}- [Best Action-Adventure]
Again only one I saw. Geez I'm out of the loop this year. Too bad Space Pirates didn't make it though. I was supporting that one on the "Adventure" part. Looks like "Action" is dominating this year. Fate/Zero is probably better, but I haven't seen it, so I'll go with the axe wielding Yuno Gasai. -{B1}- [Best Fantasy]
Not fair to vote here since I haven't seen Fate/Zero, which is almost certainly the best Fantasy this year. Saw Sword Art Online, but frankly detested it for how it handled a really interesting premise. -{B2}- [Best Science Fiction]
Easy pick here. Nothing like an old fashioned space action adventure show. Made me realize how much I missed those types of shows. -{B3}- [Best Horror]
Finally one with some competition. Another is your more classic horror show. Slow build up before taking a steep slide into increasing depravity, as our hero and heroine are hunted by forces beyond their control. Mirai Nikki was more of a twist show that depended a lot on the Yandere element. However, I felt that this was the only Yandere show to really hit the right notes. To me it wasn't the blood that made Mirai Nikki horror, it was the psychological breakdown and corruption of both our hero and our heroine. It is horror, but more in the line of "The Strange Case of Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde". The evil in Mirai Nikki wasn't the outside forces with knives and guns, it was inside our hero and heroine all along. -{B4}- [Best Mystery]
Well, this is another case were I really need to watch a show. However, Another was your classic Horror/Mystery and it intrigued me, so for now I'll give it a vote. Interested in Hyouka -{B5}- [Best Drama]
A good drama. Later it became more romance, but earlier it had drama without the romance. Tari Tari is the other I saw, but that was too much Slice of Life for me. -{B6}- [Best Romance]
Haven't seen Chuunibyou. The premise is too hard for me because I'll feel empathetic embarrassment for all the silly things being done. Seen the others though. Ano Natsu was good, but I didn't really feel the canon couple. Mysterious Girlfriend X was incredibly sensual and was really different. However, I have to go with The Monster Next To Me. -{B7}- [Best Comedy]
Not a good year for the comedy I like. -{B8}- [Best Slice of Life]
A pleasant show, and I haven't seen Hyouka yet. -{B9}- [Best Sports]
Obvious pick is obvious -{C1}- [Best TV Series]
It's this or Fate/Zero, and I haven't seen Fate/Zero. -{C2}- [Best OVA]
Sigh... Haven't seen any of these. -{C3}- [Best Movie]
-{D1}- [Best Female Lead]
Hard to pick between Chihaya and Mitty, but I'm going to go with the study bug. Rarely do female leads have both the quirky personality and the solid feeling of "Realness" that Mizutani does. -{D2}- [Best Male Lead]
Not feeling the guys this year. -{D3}- [Best Antagonist]
She made her show. I wouldn't be surprised if half the viewers turned in just to watch Yuno Gasai. -{D4}- [Best Side-Character]
-{D5}- [Best World Setting]
Detested the show, but got to admit it had a cool World Setting. -{D6}- [Best Credits Theme]
Watched all of them, To The Beginning is the best song, but if you include visuals I have to go with the OP to Mirai Nikki. It properly communicated the nature of the show. -{D7}- [Best Soundtrack]
Didn't see any so how can I vote? -{D8}- [Best Ongoing Series]
Since Yamato didn't make it through my vote has to go for Jojo.

-{A1}- [Best Storyline & Plot] Fate/Zero (I have to acknowledge Urobuchi and Nasu here for their excellent writing of an anime masterpiece.)
-{A2}- [Best Visuals & Animation] Nisemonogatari( In part so that Fate/Zero doesn't sweep everything and an acknowledgment that nobody does it like SHAFT does and that Shinbo is still a master at this) -{B0}- [Best Action-Adventure] Fate/Zero (I am shocked that Shana got snubbed and Oda Nobuna got a nod here. The Saber/Lancer, the multiple Saber/Castor, Rider/Gilgamesh and Kiritsugu/Kotomine fights were all well-done) -{B1}- [Best Fantasy] Jinrui Wa Suitai Shimashita( I don't consider F/Z a fantasy series and Sword Art Online is definately not a fantasy series either. I like Natsume, but Jintai is just the best fantasy one out of those although I would consider Jintai more of a dark comedy) -{B2}- [Best Science Fiction] Mouretsu Pirates (I hate to vote against Jintai even those it has SF elements. Mouretsu Pirates is a throwback to the great SF anime of the late 90s and thusly deserves to win) -{B3}- [Best Horror] Another (Even though the last half of the show was disappointing and it sort of became a comedy near the end, it still deserves the win here. Umbrellas and elevators were terrifying for a short time when this show was airing) -{B4}- [Best Mystery] Hyouka (I have never seen it since I don't like fansubs. Out of the ones I've seen, Tasogare was a better mystery than Another.) -{B5}- [Best Drama] Sakamichi no Apollon (I hate choosing between this and Tari Tari but Sakamichi is a masterclass anime and so I have to recognize Watanabe's excellence here) -{B6}- [Best Romance] Ano Natsu de Matteru (even though I shipped Kaito x Kanna. It is a well-executed romantic story) -{B7}- [Best Comedy] Jinrui Wa Suitai Shimashita (Watashi was just a deliciously snarky character and Jintai puts all the other ones in this category to shame) -{B8}- [Best Slice of Life] Tari Tari (PA Works shows that they won 2012 in the contest against Kyoto Animation. Tari Tari was always a delight to watch and always lifted my spirits.) -{B9}- [Best Sports] Chihayafuru (It introduced a lot of people to karuta and was the gold standard in a good year for sports anime) -{C1}- [Best TV Series] Chihayafuru (Was torn between this and Fate/Zero but had to go with which one was a better piece of art) -{C2}- [Best OVA] Code Geass: Nunnally in Wonderland (Not really familiar with any of them.) -{C3}- [Best Movie] K-ON! Movie(Kyoto Animation at its best.) -{D1}- [Best Female Lead] Watashi (She's everything you love in an anime lead) -{D2}- [Best Male Lead] Kiritsugu Emiya (I hate Araragi so I won't vote for him. Emiya also is a very complex and riveting character) -{D3}- [Best Antagonist] Gilgamesh (Was torn between him and Kotomine. Gilgamesh is just too deliciously arrogant not to vote for.) -{D4}- [Best Side-Character] Rider(I don't know the other characters in this category but Rider is a very MANLY and Hammy guy that I just love) -{D5}- [Best World Setting] Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita (since it's only one I've seen and I couldn't resist Pion) -{D6}- [Best Credits Theme] Sakamichi no Melody (The trumpet in this song gets me every time. It's the best song of the year) -{D7}- [Best Soundtrack] Sakamichi no Apollon (I hate to vote against Kajuira but Yoko Kanno is the best composer in anime and Sakamichi knows how to use its music very well) -{D8}- [Best Ongoing Series]Shin Sekai Yori (I haven't seen any of them in this category but SSY seems to have the most to say) |

This year had great anime, but I haven't watched enough in certain categories.
-{A1}- [Best Storyline & Plot] Fate/Zero Definitely a cut above -{A2}- [Best Visuals & Animation] Fate/Zero Honestly, I'm considering abstaining. F/Zero had solid visuals but certainly had its issues. Dunno about Hyouka, nice animation but the character designs look too derpy for me to consider it visually appealing. And Shaft should never win an award that involves animation -{B0}- [Best Action-Adventure] Fate/Zero -{B1}- [Best Fantasy] Fate/Zero Default :S I haven't watched enough this year. -{B2}- [Best Science Fiction] -{B3}- [Best Horror] My God, what terrible choices. -{B4}- [Best Mystery] -{B5}- [Best Drama] Sakamichi no Apollon Sakamichi no Apollon is beautiful, with its character dynamics. -{B6}- [Best Romance] Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun I didn't even finish this one, but from what I've seen, wins by default -{B7}- [Best Comedy] Yuru Yuri♪♪ It's pretty amazing how this series has gone on with the simple premise yet doesn't feel too boring. -{B8}- [Best Slice of Life] Tari Tari Such a vague category. Since the show is about this and that though... -{B9}- [Best Sports] Chihayafuru Long live Madhouse and their epicness -{C1}- [Best TV Series] Chihayafuru Just nonstop fun, really -{C2}- [Best OVA] -{C3}- [Best Movie] Hotarubi no Mori E It's a great movie, and it's also not K-on -{D1}- [Best Female Lead] Chihaya Ayase Hot blooded heroines for the win. -{D2}- [Best Male Lead] Kiritsugu Emiya First half had him have the personality of a wooden plank, but man the journey to why he became like that is heartbreaking. Also, Homu Homu borrowed from his school of combat. -{D3}- [Best Antagonist] Kotomine Kirei Douche of the year, no question. Not even Gilgamesh's shitty fashion sense can compare. -{D4}- [Best Side-Character] Rider Bros are bros -{D5}- [Best World Setting] Sword Art Online It truly is a magnificent premise and world. Too bad they never took advantage of it. -{D6}- [Best Credits Theme] Sakamichi no Melody Bar none, the song is just beautiful from start to finish. -{D7}- [Best Soundtrack] Sakamichi no Apollon Fate/Zero's soundtrack is good, but not Kaijura's best. I heard Guilty Crown had a good soundtrack, but never saw it. Well, I do have recurring nightmares of watching a POS that seems like it, but nah... -{D8}- [Best Ongoing Series] Shin Sekai Yori No HxH? WTF! Well, this show has me watching it for all kinds of reasons, right and wrong
