Episode 32 was great. But so have many other episodes been. This show is just reliable entertainment every week. The drawing goes on and off model, but it doesn't matter: the story has gripped me and won't let go. I hated the shouted voice-acting at first, but I got used to it long ago, and now I can feel how it has given the show and its main character a special style and intensity. It seems archaic, like this is really the distant past. Only a few more episodes left? Nooo! This could go on indefinitely, for me.
Sure, Zheng (the First Emperor) was a tyrant -- one of the most tyrannical in human history -- but his tyranny made China a single country, and put an end (more or less) to centuries of war and incredible suffering. Not that I want to see a tyrant like that again, but if you've lived under disorder, peace and order can seem pretty wonderful, when they come.

Considering who's directing it's really no surprise the storytelling is as great as it is. I jut lament this series didn't have a decent budget, because so many people were turned off early-on by the appalling animation.

I'm going to be so sad when this series ends. The story and action are quite good, and they have finally stabilize the awful CG. I've tried to get some of my friends to watch, but the female ones refuse to watch because of bad CG. With even decent animation, I'm sure this series would be a lot more popular than it is now.
Anyway, the latest episode was exciting. It looks like it is finally time for the main battle. I'm not sure what Xin will do, since his battalion is battered. It looks like a battle of generals now. As for Yang Duanhe suddenly appearing, my guess is that she is either there to reinforce the borders or join in the battle. It seems like a much larger plot is in the works, and it is sad that the story will end whenever that is revealed.

If you are introducing this anime to your friends, maybe you can try showing them from either episode 16(where the 1st campaign starts) or 22(episode with most 2d iirc) onwards. Either way, just show them the later episodes in which the CG aren't as bad. The first arc of the story where Xin, Zheng and Diao got together is quite boring(but important as an introduction to the story) anyway when compared to the war and tactics in the later parts of this series.
EDIT: Good News! 2nd season confirmed!!! read: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...iere-this-june

Also, I wonder how many episodes it will have? Hopefully, it will be more than 1 cour. But yeah, the strategy of showing the later episodes is a really good idea.

hope there will be at least 38 or even 50 episodes in the new season. whichever that allows the anime to catch up to the manga while at the same time not cutting away too many details of course, most importantly, i hope they do improve the CG and animation. it is really unfair for such a great story to lose potential fans just because of the lousy CG and animation. i admit i almost dropped this anime during the first arc due to the weird animation but im glad i didn't

All i can say is, the ending of this season will be pretty epic in a certain way and reward all those who stayed on to this anime. It's a pity that 99% of the people dropped this within the first 3 episodes due to the bad CG. Will probably be watching the last 3 episodes all at one go once they are all out by the end of the month.

Second season? Awesome!
You're probably right about the budget thing, but Blu-ray and DVD sales aren't the only thing that are considered in whether an anime is profitable or not. As I understand it those sales are usually not the big profit driver anyways - an anime adaptation is often meant to boost sales of the original source material. It could be that there was a sufficient boost. Ratings and ad revenue may also factor in. They are putting it in a late night timeslot, and given it's a Seinen manga that's a time the target demographic would be available to watch. |

start watching from episode 16 or 17. that's where the real action starts and when the animation are more bearable. the first story arc from 1-15 is relatively slow and boring anyway. if you compare the animation of episode 1 with the latest 2-3 episodes(34-36), you can really see the improvement.

Luckily, there are 2 more episodes to go in the next 2 weeks. There are 38 episodes total for the first series. Then, the second series will start up again in June.
The current episode was awesome as always. We get a lot of background on Liao and Wang Yi, and now Wang Yi is probably one of my favorite characters in the show. I can't believe how much a turnaround he is from when he made his first appearance. Btw, his first Lieutenant, Teng, is an insane fighter.
