I somehow dont understand the system of desctop icons. my standart icons are in the file "shell32.dll". So how can i possibly add other icons to it. As i browse for using anouther direction for changing folder and file icons, i cant pick jpeg or bitmap or png files. Just what kind of files do i have to get and where the hell do i get those?

I use docklets/widgets for the icons. The actual desktop icons are hidden away by a script. Example:

I personally use Avedesk to handle everything, tho some people say Yahoo! Widgets are good too.
