If there is a way to qualify this adaptation then I should call it mediocre.
The last episode was anticlimatic, it made beatrix looks like a cheap villain, same goes for Axxman. The only one thing was the scene between Iris and Theo when she was dying, everything else it was so rushed that barely make sense. SM isn't the best Muv-Luv story in this franchise but didn't deserve this kind of treatment, a lot of character development was completely erased, the past of some of them it was a mayor point to understand their motivations and everything was missing, some of the stories were changed and as example we have Lise's story, the fight were almost not existant and to be honest this didn't showed how is SM at all, what a waste. The final rate for this Schwarzesmarken is a 4/10, and I really hope if there is another adaptation in the future PLEASE do it in a right way because this was a shame. |

RIP. So this show isn't afraid to kill certain characters. But honestly, the entire show/story wasn't very good at storytelling. It just seems like this show is targeted towards an audience who is very familiar with the Muv Luv universe. I thought the amount of characterization is really a mixed bag. I never thought Beatrix, Silva, or even Theodor's sister were well written characters.
Action was alright on most parts. The finale also felt weird. I mean, the certain confession from Theodor to Irisdina felt like it almost came out of nowhere with little development. I did like the setting and drama flair though with the political side of the story. Still, disappointed overall in this show.

I loved the OST!! Best part of the series. I will definitely buy the Kotobukiya`s Mig-23 Zwei and the Mig-29 Aligatori. I really wish they release the Eishi Suit figures rather than the 4-Leaves Bikini edition.
Now about the series, I agree that 24 episodes would have been way better to expand the whole story for all viewers rather than focus on 12 episode for ML Fans. Overall I enjoyed the story, in fact I enjoy it more than Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans. It would have been fun to watch it with the new Macross Series and the 24-episode format Gundam Unicorn next season. But I will say I will give the series an overall 7.5/10 score. It was a nice ride. |

I really liked how that sword he picked up after he lost his arm was shown in an earlier scene in the background. Just a little nitpick I noticed.
It does feel like there is quite some more that didn't fit in this adaptation. I think I will give the entire series an enjoyable 6/10. |

Yup, they can. Be very afraid.
To elaborate, after seeing the effectiveness of the USMC A-6 Intruder in combat, the U.S. Army decided they needed one and launched the A-X Program (Attacker Experimental) to fix that problem. Unfortunately, the Intruder's inability to fly around and generally poor mobility made it unsuited for sustained inland operations, and every attempt to add jump units ended poorly. Then, Fairchild Republic (quite possibly the only manufacturer in the BETA-verse not to be given the Lockweed Treatment) decided to take a look at the F-4 concept. Everyone else decided that the Phantom was over-armored and it's problem was that it couldn't doge, but they decided that its problem was that it was under-armored and its problem was that it couldn't shoot everything so effectively it had no need of dodging. So, they threw the idea of 'agility' out the window, added armor and bulked up the engines enough that the thing could achieve a respectable straight-line speed, and added enough gun that it could shoot everything so effectively it had no need of dodging. They accomplished this by mounting a BRRRT on both shoulder blocks. Then the entire population of the United States looked on what they wrought, and saw that it was good. Even if it was hard to make anything out through all the blood splatter. |

My only question is: "Hey, if you loved her, then how about flying her to a HOSPITAL??!!"
Anyway, I really enjoyed this series! Good characters, great storyline, loved the twisty plot and the whole 'the evil overlord is watching' feel the Stasi imbued in everyone. Well done!

.............. there goes 2nd best girl.
You just couldn't help yourself could you Muv-Luv? I bet if there were about just 3 mins remaining you'd still make sure to kill Iris in that time. This wasn't necessary, although admittedly it was a beautiful death scene...(if you ignore how silly the fact that they had the time to get her up on a rooftop but not to a hospital is). So Theodor's lost Lise, Iris and he ended up a bigger war hero than before & one of the people entrusted with the country's future. A bittersweet ending but still, #FeelsBadMan on a personal level. Still makes you wonder what would've happened if he removed himself from the conflict together with Lise & go live together in some other part of the world. Oh yea, and R.I.P. Walter & Sylvia too. As expected, if one died, the other was gonna follow. But damn it Walter, you died for the sake of getting rid of a gun... All that was needed was him saying "WORTH!" T'was a great ride overall & quite a bit better than Total Eclipse(which I still enjoyed). 2-cours would've served Schwarzesmarken great in order to get some solid characterization on everyone from 666, or at least more on Iris but considering the time restraints of adapting what I hear to be a fairly long LN with only 12 eps to work with, this was pretty solid, IMO. This series has made me realize another thing btw, the TSF combat... when I played the original trilogy I always assumed they couldn't fly, or rather just glide for short periods of time outside flight mode, but the combats decipted in the anime are hella gundam!?
I barely saw the tactics applied in the Alternative like combat formations, taking cover and ground movement. Or maybe it's just me...
