Episode 1:
Huh they used some rather eerie music for the theme songs. Idk how I feel about the episode tbh, it just starts off weird. However, I am glad that they reintroduced some of the more familiar characters from the franchise including Naegi and Kirigiri. Animation remains pretty much similar from what I remember although the setting is quite different. Definitely curious to see how the story will progress with this as there's a diverse range of characters. Monokuma is still pretty silly to watch. Looks like Future Foundation will be a major focus and we already got a first victim heh

We're off to a decent start; I didn't think we were going to get much more than the set up of the locked room and the first confirmed "kill", so this largely fell in line with my expectations. It's all still very safely danganronpa; without being constrained to the game's format of storytelling, it is a lot more watchable as a show as well. Loved the bit of fanservice with them showing us what the ultimate despairs were like in their prime.
Spoiler for First kill:

As for Togami, based on the timeline, no one really knows; maybe wrapping up stuff from the fallout in AE, or maybe waiting to swoop in at the very last episode to save everyone. Last edited by com_gwp; 2016-07-11 at 12:55. |

It was rather cool to see the cast of R2 in their Super High School Level Despair form. People had always speculated on what they looked like back then. There were a few references to the game, like Fuyuhiko wearing an eyepatch or "Togami" using night vision goggles. Gundam looked cool as fuck. Was rather sad the girl I liked the most ended up dying first.

Nah I dont think she faked her own death since they are all probably going to have the class trial after this so if she was the villian, it wouldnt be exposed to early. Also, what happened to monokuma's voice? The upupu sounded so weird lol

It is very likely she did pull that trick. Let see how the episodes go. I still we will her again toward to end. Remember mention two hopes shining brighter. Makoto and Kyosuke have to work together to get through this ordeal and find the true culprit.
I still think Yukizone is the villian in the end. She mention a lot of hints. We'll see how the story goes. Anyway, Yasuhiro is outside; god knows what he is gonna do. If Hajime and Togami show up towards the last couple episodes, it would be awesome as hell. I kind of expected Kyouko being Makoto's boss. |

Interesting. Sadly we only get the same plot, trapped into a huge building solving another battle royalle. No street action, same scenarios over and over each season.
The real blood is a big plus Kirigiri seems rather cold, she was way better with Naegi on the ending of season 1. |

I am really hoping that Yukizone does not turn out to be the current Monokuma. Honestly, she feels way too much like a red herring. Her being the teacher for the Remnants of Despair from SDR2 feels like a huge distraction point (though I expect to see her in the Despair Chapter) combined with the fact that we already saw what happened with Junko. It would be too obvious. The writers for DanganRonpa are more clever than that. Though, I will say Ibuki is still best girl. That intro with the Remnants of Despair proves that~

Yukizome talking to Naegi alone about the Despairs is suspicious. But she "died", first...
I also find the facemask girl suspicious since her mask probably protected her from the sleeping gas and she knew the effects. Doubt the muscle guy with the animal head is evil....BUT the dead security guards had there freaking necks broken 180 degrees. That's gotta take muscle or machinery...... There's no game or novel for this to look for spoilers? |

Nope all original material.
On one hand due to plot armor and such Makoto Kirigiri and Asahina are bound to be safe which limits the pool of suspects and victims. This kind of limits the suspense. Unless of course there is no plot armor then Kirigiri and Asahina are fair game. MAYBE Asahina and that is ahuge maybe... but Kirigiri? Imagine the backlash if she gets offed.
