As far as first two episode goes, GL can compete with plenty of mecha anime and feel much more like one then for RWBY I dare say. Characters are likeable, animation smooth, choreography precise. It could be probably even better if Monty was alive, but I think it got pretty close. Spoiler for Character teasers:

This show felt like the culmination of all of Rooster Teeth's strengths they've been honing until now. Red vs Blue proved they could swing between hilarious comedy and deep, emotional themes with a finesse that I now realize was reminiscent of Gintama. RWBY took their efforts into shounen action anime with more consistent action scenes. Gen:LOCK displays all these strengths and more with Rooster Teeth finally nestling themselves with a sci-fi premise poised to deliver messages of freedom, individuality, and teamwork that they're all about.
Just noticed that last teaser foreshadows Sinclair's betrayal with that lingering shot.

I just watch the 1st episode and enjoyed it. Feels like watching an old school mecha anime but in 3D animation. Too bad the rest of the episodes are locked for Roosterteeth First members only.
