Very rarely do we get a anime set in an imperial court. (KyoAni has published Tenkyakuryou no Majo under the KA Esuma Bunko imprint and is also set in the imperial court.) Let's see what this show is all about.

Key Gintama staff being listed as this series' staff plus Bandai Namco Pictures being involved means that this is a Sunrise production. Interesting choice of media to adapt, though. Are we seeing a rise in historical anime series?

The trailer is rather beautiful indeed, so I have anticipation for the eventual "product".
Looks like they are going for the Tang - Song aesthetics, even if there is a slight historical confusion. But still interesting. - Tak

Was really hoping for The Apothecary Diaries to get adapted, I remember a lot of people in Japan wanting that one done a couple of years ago. But if this one is, maybe it will too. I'll take a look at this one.

Spoiler:
Back to topic, this show is another fantasy show in a fictional world. In short, it is isekai. Most people have no idea about the story, so they make comments by making referencing to other similar shows. |

"Isekai" specifically refers to a genre of Fantasy where the MC or others comes from Earth and then travels to a Fantasy World (or rarely vice versa). Usually for settings where there's no dimensional/world travel involved, it's just referred to as "Fantasy". Thus, you will never see people refer to stories like Berserk, Claymore, Final Fantasy, Xenoblade, Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, etc. as "isekai" despite being set in fictional fantasy worlds.

Not identical for sure - clearly there is far more of a supernatural element in this title and a more serious cast of characters. Looks like Seven Seas have picked up a translated version of the manga, starting from early 2023. I'm interested enough to give it a look.
