Code-E
Production Company: Studio DEEN Genre: Romance, comedy Expected Release Date: July 2007 Website: http://avexmovie.jp/lineup/code-e/ The show is based on an original concept by Sakaki Ichiro. The fan of Scrapped Princess may recognize his name as the author of the novel. Apparently, this show is going to replace the timeslot for Welber no Monogatari, a Production I.G series, that is going to broadcast in Tokyo MX TV in this coming April. The director for the show is going to be Kato Toshiyuki who also directed several episodes of Simoun. Cano Caoli will be in charge of the music. The show has a very good vibe going for it. The synopsis in the following is taken from animenfo: In early summer, 20 years later, Amizawa VillageLooking forward to it! edit: (Mar 11, 2007) Found synopsis. Added official url. CODE-E will also be getting a manga. the manga will be titled: CODE-EX.
CODE-EX will be serialized in the seinen manga magazine Sunday GX (do you understand now why they called it CODE-EX ), and yeah its getting a seinen manga :P Sakaki Ichirou & Harao Yumiko will be working on the manga. Sakaki Ichirou is a light novel writer (this seems to be his first time working on a manga). Harao Yumiko is the mangaka that worked on Centzon Hitchers & Undertaker manga; which is the manga adaptation of Ergo Proxy anime (it was also serialized in the seinen magazine Sunday GX).

I have never heard of Cano Caoli (interesting way of westernizing her Japanese name btw), but hearing the trailer music which I assume is her work, it reminds me of Read or Die. Heck the lead character is a meganekko, have special powers and looks to be a dojikko too!
Anyhow, this looks to be an interesting show. |

The Simoun staff connections certainly get my attention. And that summary sounds as if the psychology is interestingly complex. The director was also the director of Full Moon wo Sagashite, apparently.
This appears to be the first named role for the star, Hashimoto Mai. She has a blog, with pictures. Nazuka Kaori (Yun in Simoun) and Halko Momoi are also in the cast.

episode one was actually pretty good. you already knew what was coming from the preview but they still managed to throw in a small surprise or two.
the voice acting seemed fine to me. animation was good. other than that weird one eyed bear thing, nothing really to complain about. |
