The Aria series starts with Aria the Animation, Aria the Natural being the sequel and Aria the Origination being the conclusion.

What about the most popular ones - Naruto and Bleach? Though those are ongoing series. D.Gray-man finished airing a while ago. Also have a look at some older ones: Rurouni Kenshin, Basilisk, Elemental Gelade, Gungrave and my favorite in the genre - Berserk, however the manga version is a lot better. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann had some interesting fight sequences too if you're into mecha.

Remember than in-between the second season of ARIA (the natural) and the 3rd season (the origination) stands the 1-episode OVA Arietta.

Ummm... no, it didn't. Both the manga and the anime is still ongoing.
Another series I'd reccomend is Claymore. The ending is rather crappy, but it's got plenty of awesome action-scenes, and that was what you asked for, right?

Uhh, you're right. Some time ago I got tired of the slow pace of the show and tried the manga instead. There was not that much material left so I assumed it has finished airing by now.

Yeah gotta agree on that one - the ending was awful. I highly recommend checking out the manga too.

Hajime no ippo. Great from start to end. It's about boxing with rocky like emotions (assuming you know/seen rocky).

Is ARIA really full of action??? From the screens I have seen, doesn't seem to hint any action at all...

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...

ehemm... no, in fact ARIA is one of the most laid back series there are out there, pertaining to the slice of life genre. It's just that the thread author seemed to ask about this series, even if it is completely out of context

you should watch claymore to episode 20 and then start reading the manga since the manga is rather badass lol

Another vote for Claymore. I thought the ending was good, but yeah the manga is better. They really need another season. Its darker than One Piece though FYI.
