Kurogane no Linebarrel

Kurogane no Linebarrel

Author: SHIMIZU Eiichi

Artist: SHIMOGUCHI Tomohiro

Synopsis (From Baka-Updates):
Fourteen-year-old Kouichi Hayase’s life has always been a mediocre one, if not dismal. However, those days of being bullied by classmates and escaping to a fantasy of being a hero are put to an end when a certain “accident” bestows on him a girl and a gigantic humanoid robot called “LINEBARREL”. The extraordinary power that Kouichi obtains puts him and everything around him on a sudden rollercoaster ride of battles, intrigues and friendship! During the course of his adventure, the boy starts to learn what life has to offer; he meets new friends, bids farewell to the old ones, but most of all he now has considerable responsibilities and is forced to confront the world around him.

From a bullied target into a super-bully to a hero....

Too bad all the bad guys (up to Vol.4) is too... typical old-day villain.... (I don't know other words for it.....)

The battle is nice, artwork is nice too, but the character... (well, let's just say it got shounen-psychological disturbance-syndrome....)

You should put the title of the manga as the thread title as well instead of a link.

The manga is pretty okay. The mechs remind me of ZoE.

I could not stand the main character. He is in another level of emo. So I read through 4 volumes and skipped a lot because of the emo level >.<.

Edit: The only reason why I kept reading is because

^You like the pretty long black-haired Tsundere-chan?

But yeah, that first big berserk battle was one big Evangelion flashback for me. Evangelion did it better though, and Eureka 7 did it best. Or TTGL, depending on your taste.

How many b's did I use there?

This one isn't bad, but it isn't very good either. Everything's...been done before. Kind of. The mecha thing, the 14-years-old-kid-saves-the-world thing, the evil organization thing...

Plus, mecha anime > mecha manga, so yeah.

mmm not too bad so far after reading volume 5, the main guy started off a complete ass but he's definately maturing.

The mecha action is kind of hard to follow though.

The main character is only an ass/emo in the first volume or two he changes or should I say matures. He still thinks highly of himself but it comes off as funny when he tries to act all cool for that one girl but it doesn't really impress her at all heh.
