Akatsuka famous for various nonsense manga like Tensai Bakabo, Osomatsu-kun and Himitsu no Akko-chan had passed away at a tokyo hospital on the 2nd of August at 4:55PM local time at the age of 72. He started his career looking up to Teduka Osamu and moved into the famous Tokiwa-so after graduating junior high. In 1956 he made his debut with Arashi wo Koete and further became famous with his Osomatu-kun series in 1962. http://www.excite.co.jp/News/society...03M40.075.html Let him rest full of laughter. |

Yeah, I just saw this a little while ago.
Although people outside of Japan are probably unfamiliar with him, there's not a single person who grew up in Japan that's unfamiliar with his works, especially Bakabon series. One of the greatest manga artist ever lived, and a member of the Tokiwa-sou residents.... Gosh, there's hardly anyone left from Tokiwa-sou now. Tezuka, Ishinomori, Fujiko F. Fujio, and now Akatsuka passes away. This is definitely a sign of end of an era.

So the creator of the great Tensai Bakabon has passed away . I remember watching episodes of the different series back in the late 90s since a Japanese friend of mine, knowing of my love for the American television show The Simpsons, described the show (and manga) as the original Simpsons. I adored the series back then, and have many fond memories of watching the show with friends. This is sad news indeed.
