Vuze version 4.0
The Vuze interface (many may have found annoying, as I have) has been modified. The Vuze HD Network Library is now not loaded by default (thank god). The easy interface parts of Vuze (that were introduced with the name change to Vuze) have now been re-designed into native operating system interface somewhat and are far more streamer and efficient then the previous version which was integrated straight into the Vuze HD Network Library (resulting in considerable drop in performance).
The just mentioned are now placed as a left side re-sizable sidebar, structure is: My Library (very akin to the old Azureus interface) [contains: Downloading (shows just the active items) Unwatched (this is not the bottom part of the old interface )], Vuze HD Network, Notification, Subscriptions (manages both Vuze content and RSS feeds you may add). These are the default unclosable tabs in the sidebar, you can open something such as Statistics and you will get another tab (only it will also have a close sign next to it). Plugins work the same. The interface also has a switch on the top right for selecting either the Vuze list style (download speed and progress integrated into one bar etc) and the old Azureus style listing (see screen shots bellow for hint to difference). Personally I wasn't a big fan of the Vuze (the new interface) but that didn't stop me from still using Azureus (of course I would select the old UI) but the new changes are just to my licking. . (the last -released- version before this was Vuze 3.1.1.0 | 2008.07.01) Changelog Spoiler:

Try clicking on the main tab, the big blue one called My Library. The first frame isn't Downloading it's Incomplete. Basically unfinished files like when you downloaded 13 episodes in a torrent that contained 26. But it does indeed show currently downloading files as well. The second tab is what you want, Complete list of finished files. You can drag up the frame by holding on the in-between edge and it will allow you to overlap the Incomplete frame completely. You'll then have the section you desire. If you (by chance) you don't see two sections in My Library then you're likely viewing with the Vuze view, on the top right there's a switch to go to the advanced Azureus view.
To filter by category simply click on the category. If what you meant is sort then you'll need to right click, select Column Setup and activate the Category column. You can then click it to sort by category up or down.

No no no, I was strictly referring to the Library tab. I called them frames (=/= tabs) but really what they are is a split plane, so not frames at all; just like how the old Azureus My Torrents was.

Probably the right place for this. I dont know if its a problem that only happens because of my computer or if it has happened to other people as well:
After getting the core version 4.0.0.1 from Vuze for some reason it kept the old 3.x.x.x version in the program folder and whenever I tried to start it with my usual shortcuts (task bar, start menu, desktop) it loaded Azureus 3.1.1.0 from 2006. Had to kill the process in the task manager afterwards. Tried basically everything to get the 4x version back to working, but nothing really helped. The solution was quite simple though: Without deinstalling anything, downloaded the newest Vuze release from the official homepage and ran the setup process, thus "actualizing" the folder on my computer from 3x to 4.0.0.1 even though I should have had that version somewhere already. Anyway it kept all torrents I had and is working without problems now. I still wonder what the cause for that problem was. |

I can't use the full features because the main machine I use is a headless Linux server box running it under VNC, and I'd just as soon not install Flash on that machine because it's not a desktop. That and the machine runs a VIA C-7. That combination wouldn't exactly give great performance. ;)
Though what was odd was that it used the NEW interface (I am not kidding!) when I installed the newest tarball (this is one of the very few programs I will not use from Ubuntu's archives simply because it gets updated so frequently). Anyway, everything's cool and such on my side. --Ian. |
