I also saw it on my RSS feed, blinked, then asked myself, "Are they nuts?"
Looking at the cover http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...collection.jpg it looked anything but punk, except for flipping birds. After sampling the Marimite Christmas album (in which the voice cast sang it all in Engrish), let's see if this album would work this time. Yes, I'd like to hear how Haruna Ikezawa (Yoshino Shimazu) pull off Green Day and Sex Pistols.

Someone posted snippits on Youtube (this shouldn't be a problem for the mods since they're not full songs, right?):

Woah there's a thread about this here.
I listened to the collection last night. Uh... Track 1: Sex and violence is more like sex and "balance" with Halko's pronounciation. Track 5: Hearing Lacus Clyne say "I am an antichrist" is great. N-n-n-not really sure what to say about the rest. |

I feel disappointed and sad for blindly buying this without waiting to listen to it first.
I kinda thought they would keep, you know, the same rythm, the same music, like most covers are usually done, where the band or artist just gives it a little bit of their own style, and that's it. But this was totally unexpected. They are like totally new songs, that just share the same lyrics, and that's it. That's where the similarities end. There are so many great anime music albums, OP/ED/OST/Image etc, that I really like and listen so much more than western music, but this was just lame and a very weak attempt at covering some of the best Punk songs in history. Just my opinion, anyway. |

"Pretty Fly" had me giggling for hours.

Anyway the thing that stood out to me most that hasn't already been said is the fact that some songs were nearly unrecognizable. It was mostly "Smells Like Teen Spirit" that I felt this about, it was so soft at the start I was thinking maybe it wasn't the Nirvana song.

That being said, I don't think that was the reason, unless the producers are stupid pricks, which I don't know, but anyway, I don't agree with you. |

I just found out about this album today. My reaction:
WTF That purely described my reaction to the album. I don't know any of the songs, since I don't really listen to english music in general. Starts off with a song called Sex and Violence by Haruko Momoi, who I quite like from what I heard from animelo. It started sounding like an ero-ge opening...'SEX AND VIOLENCE'. Seriously I don't know what my reaction should be. This kind of reminds me of a yandere...a moe moe girl singing some weird moe-fied punk song. Anarchy is the only one that is artistically good. The others were jokes. I enjoyed it as a guity pleasure...Who thought of this idea...making moe moe seiyuus singing punk?
