Higashi no Eden had a big jump up in TV ratings this week, going from 3% last week (ep3) to 4.1% this week (ep4), according to posts on 2channel.
By the way, for a discussion of the various unanswered questions, there is an interesting thread called "spoilers and speculation."

Eden of the East, like other Noitamina shows, is the top-rated late-night show. Its first episode got a 4.5% or so share, then it dropped to around 3% for two eps, but is now back up to over 4%, which puts it just outside the top ten. This is excellent for a late-night anime. You can see last week's more-or-less full ratings here. Late-night anime make their money from DVD sales and sales of goods like figures and CDs, etc., rather than from TV advertising, which is where the top-rated family shows make more money.

Higashi no Eden Episode 4 Discussion
This episode was good since it gave off more info about Akira and the supporters.
What I liked: -The introduction of Ryosuke as the fiancee of Asako's sister. -The Cold Blue poster as the dolphin being Saki and the man Akira as being her even in the depths of the ocean despite them being different. -The cell phone pile was interesting in that they seem to be remainders of the 20 000 NEETS that Akira killed. -The weird hallucinations that Akira got when he went to one of the missile sites. Calling one of them Johny. -Reference to a movie of the name Quadrophenia. It was interesting. -The message Saki sent to Akira was cute. Shows she is concerned about him but yet does not want to bother him much judging that she erased a part of it. -Introduction of #4 Selecado Hajime Hiura. His achievement was great! Making a hospital that would treat those who cannot be treated elsewhere. Akira meets him while investigating who bought a MRI machine. -I knew from the beginning that the fundings came initially from the 10 billions he got from the supporter. -The explanation of how the Messiahs have been selected and the machine that came to them with the phone. -Loved the past of Akira about him being some delivery person until he got selected to be a Selecado and thus a Messiah. -The rules seemed fair to me. 1.Abandoning your post. 2.Not using the phone for a long period of time. 3.Pursuing personal desires. 4.Balance reaching 0 and not having saved the nation. -Hajime explaining to Akira about his ambitions. -Akira willing to give half of his money to Hajime to save him. -Juriz being talked to one last time by Hajime and being thanked as a good concierge. What I did not like: -THE SUPPORTER! DAMN HIM! Piece of shit! He actually kills Hajime! Not cool at all! nion31: -The way people are being selected seemed totally random. This is not good. You are to select people who have qualifications for this not some random delivery boy. -Akira being drugged because of Hajime fearing him to be the supporter was not cool. I would not want to have such treatment at all! Sure liked the intro of Ryosuke, Saki's sister fiancee. Oh man Saki's sister is so much like her, I though at first it was the mother. Saki's sister is sooooo cute! :shake: I love her! Spoiler:
