mark me surprised and delighted by the designation of Kasai Kenichi as director of this series.
Even though I disliked his most recent work (Kimikiss), I think he is overall a very capable director when it comes to drama---being Honey and Clover and Nodame two of my favorite shows. I hope he can handle this anime adaptation successfully... the character designs look ok, I guess. I'm sorry if I can't really say much looking a the two pictures. hmmm... I think I'm going to keep my expectation at a low level for the time being, though I'm pretty sure this is one of the few shows I'm going to enjoy the most for this Summer Season. |

Having just learnt that this is going to be directed by Kasai, and it's a yuri anime, I've just added it to my "must see" list. This looks like it could be something worth getting excited about.

Me again with music news (Do what you love, they say.)
Lantis once again behind the music for this series. The OP, which shares the same name as the show, will be performed by pop-rock group Kukikodan. The ED, still unnamed, will be performed by Ceui. |

The official website finally got massive updates! First episode will debute on 7/1! And after browsing through the website, I think this will be a Media Factory title.
http://www.aoihana.tv/# And can anyone determine who's doing the music? http://www.aoihana.tv/#/staffcast/

Takefumi Haketa is a decent choice. Not who i would have gone with, though at the end of the day it's not my choice.
I'm expecting plenty of lovely piano pieces, just like what we got in his work for Someday's Dreamers.

As an interesting side note, Revolutionary Girl Utena's director Kunihiko Ikuhara is directing a new OP for one of the shows this coming summer. It's not necessarily something get hopes up with but I've heard from some that the sketches seen might make it a good possibility that he might be working on the Aoi Hana OP. If true, this makes me look forward to this adaptation even more. If not, it's still nice to see the man back in action again. :P
And hearing some of Kukikodan's stuff on their Myspace Page, they seem like a nice easy listening group, so it will be fun to hear what they have for the OP.

If this series works out as much as the manga it bases itself upon, then we'll have another winner.
No, make that a possible BIG winner. This is packing so much punch.

I think Umi Monogatari is a safer bet for Ikuhara's current project; he has a pretty good relationship with Junichi Sato, after all. |

BTW, synopses for the first two episodes have been posted on the official site. Interestingly, Episode 2 was directed and storyboarded by Tatsuyuki Nagai (Honey & Clover II, Toradora!), who does a lot of work with Kasai.

At any rate, I don't find the news particularly encouraging. Given the tight schedule for the opening (original drawings only half done?), I hope the actual show isn't suffering from overly rushed production. |

Yeah that's what i original thought while reading the Kunihiko Ikuhara link. Either way i have my fingers crossed that it is Aoi Hana OP he's working on. Just keeping in mind everything he's worked on in the past, and my mind runs wild at just what he could do with this OP. I'd love to see it.
