Little King's Story (Wii)

Has anyone played this game yet? Looking at the sales so far it seems the European release was a borderline flop, though the US release is coming abit later this year. Its a complete crying shame as this is possibly one of the best games I've ever played this year. Its charming, genuinely funny, fun to play with a great art style and some creative design. For those of you who know nothing about it, it can be best summed up as Harvest Moon meets Pikmin spliced with Mother/Earthbound. Actually its created by the team behind Harvest Moon and Hotel Dusk in a joint collaboration.

The entire soundtrack is re-arranged and remixed from various legendary classical songs in history. The art style maintains a crayon storybook theme perfect for the game which plays on just about every single misconcept or wild thought a child would ever have about the world. The story itself is surprisingly brilliant, it starts off cheerful and fun but as you play on it starts becoming apparent that something isn't quite right.

As it stands the setting is that a child playing around in his room one day is sucked into a world where he is suddenly declared a king. As he traverses the land defeating the monsters and building, uniting his kingdom he discovers the existance of a larger world full of many kings. At the suggestion of his advisors he then proceeds to 'punish' these false kings and unite the world.

Oh and he also builds a harem of princesses as his wives :3

But enough ranting, heres some gameplay videos hopefully to encourage the US people to buy it when it comes or the Europeans/Australlians who haven't got it yet to get out and buy it.

Hey anything that's makes use of Ravel's Bolero in it's intro scene is awesome in my book.

Though all of the narration is truly some of the worst I've ever heard.

I think that was probably intentionally silly, it fits the theme of the game at least.

I will hopefully pick it up when it hits US shores. From what I've seen / heard it looks superb. I hope US sales are better than Europe...
