Feature Request
Is there anychance that you will ever include a preference window to set MPlayer hotkeys (and allow those hotkeys to use modifiers like cmd, or option, etc)? (the defaults kinda suck, and having to edit that one key config file gets annoying)

I've tried rev10 (1010) and have 3 issues (and proably noob ones).
1. I have subs that are located in .idx and .sub files that have English and Japanese. Under subtitles it shows disabled in both menu and control window but Japanese subtitles are appearing and there's no way to select the english ones. Verified in vlc that it works there. Also just noticed these appear to be bitmapped subtitles. 2. Is it me or are the aspect ratios (like keep) not working as you would expect? Other players with keep aspect ratio enabled you can resize and the edges on either left/right side will stay filled, but in windowed mode with a 1080p movie I'm seeing black vertical bars on either side. It varies with window size and not the kind of behavior I've seen before (on windows or mac). I can turn off all aspect ratio settings and on inital playback it is fine but of course won't be scaled correctly when you resize the window. 3. The same 1080p movie mentioned above, the audio goes way out of sync within the first few minutes of the film. It's playing faster than the film and about 8 seconds off at 2 minutes in and progressively gets worse. This comes from KMPlayer on windows for the 1080p movie: Code:

@Signal
1) Hm, now that you mention, I don't think the GUI supports vobsubs (idx/sub files originating from a DVD), yet. The only way to switch subtitles in that case is to use "j". 2) Aspect ratio settings are a bit of a mess, unfortunately. I'll have to work them over at some time... However, I'm not sure what you want to do. Stretch the video so that it always fills the window completely? That should work if you simply deselect "Keep" in the "Movie" > "Aspect Ratio" menu. 3) Have you tried enabling ffmpeg-mt in the Video tab in Preferences? Regular ffmpeg is only able to use one core and that is usually too little for 1080p h264.

Yup, those odd pink artifacts do appear in Rev11 Test2 on my end, where as they did not appear in Rev11 Test1
And it seems to crash at playback startup on a lot more files, this is without any post-processing using the regular mplayer build and not the MT one. So if it's the new shared library style of build causing it or something else. It's quite a few steps back from Rev11 Test1. Keep up the great work !!! |

I've reproduced the video glitch and am investigating now. Seems to be triggered by some h264 files, none I had been trying with, though. ^^'
There's an issue with giflib linking to X11 libraries, which causes a crash if you don't have X11 installed but that's already fixed locally. @Cpuroast Do you see any useful error in the log on the files that are crashing in test2 (and not in test1)?

I have a hunch what could cause the video displacement issue and released test4 on google code potentially fixing the issue (I won't push it to the prerelease feed for now):
http://mplayerosxext.googlecode.com/...ev11-test4.dmg Feedback from those experiencing the problem very appreciated!

Test3 did fix the crashes and pink artifact issues for all the files that had problems in Test2. As far as the video displacement, I haven't been able to reproduce it in Test3. Video always went to full screen without extra black space with or without the animations. Keep up the great work! |

Hello there again,
I've been quite away from the forums (i didn't receive the notification emails either ) I've been using Mplayer and hadn't have much issues excepting some streaming problems with the new versions. By streaming i mean, streaming via wireless from my desktop PC but i think the problem is in the wireless side and not Mplayer OS X Extended, since i use a 8MB cache for a long time now and fixed some problems i had long time ago... in a far away OS X update As usual, you're doing an awesome job anime_layer. I thought about something the other day... I always use an "hack" from the FLV Quicklook plugin to generate mkv preview icons on MKV files on Finder. Isn't there anything that can be made on mplayer OS X or some kind of Quick Look plugin for mplayer? I think that's the only thing that i can say that is missing from Mplayer OS X Extended to be the best player on the mac. |

I use 16MB even for local files, NTFS-3G isn't the fastest filesystem driver out there However for streaming, the new Rev11 which is nearly out, allows up to 256MB and up of cache which should eliminate your wireless streaming issues. I'd say 32MB should be sufficient. |

I didn't notice the increase in cache but i think i solved it by changing wireless channels My neighbors love using the 1,6 and 11 channels so i droped it to channel 8 and it's working fine until now. |

Maybe if can be added there should have a option or preference to enable/disable (it's quicker to watch some anime's because of no OP or ED sequence |

I love MPlayer OSX Extended, I'd like to give thanks for it.
I have been using it for a year now and it has served all my video viewing needs. I have noticed a few nitpick things that bug me or features that could be added. -I would love to see the ability to save and open playlists. -The fullscreen control bar is also very large, and at times I can never find a spot to put it without it being in the way. Maybe a customizable control bar or option to make it even more opaque? -I've also noticed when playing dual track audio .mkv that the volume decreases greatly when I switch from one audio track to another. Is this a problem with my settings or a problem with MPlayer OSX Extended? Just a few suggestions and problems I've noticed. Either way, its the best .mkv, .mp4, .avi, etc. player for macs. |
