Are you sure you can "play" .cam files. Using this link for reference:

The closest thing to playing would be using some NASCAR Racing 2002 game to play back the replay. I hope that link helps.

Have you tried opening it in VideoLAN Player. If it's a media file, VideoLAN can open it.

A .cam file could also be for Camtasia, Camtasia is a program used for either screen captures or video screen captures, I have used it myself for a project or two. Unfortunatly I cannot say where where to find a copy, since my friend gave it to me on cd. However knowing his monetary status, it is most likely found for free somewhere upon the web.
