Anything like Lost?

I really like the American TV series LOST. I know some people hate it or think it's silly, but I like it. And I was wondering if there was anything similar in anime.

Now there obviously won't be anything really similar because the plot is really unique. However, I wonder if there are series out there with lots of "layers" to them.

Every season, LOST has uncovered another "layer" to the story. Each season gets a little deeper into the story, such that you have no idea what's going to happen. One question gets answered and then 10 more come up because of the answer.

Spoiler for spoiler if you haven't seen all the seasons:

While a lot of the plot has gotten quite silly, you still want to keep watching just to see what happens. There is no end plot in sight, no real goal that the characters had. You have no idea where the series is going to go and you just want to know.

So, is there anything out there in the anime world like this? A series where you have no idea where the show might go and you just can't stop watching it because you want to find out what happens? Where there is no real "end-goal" set near the beginning? Where the plot seems to get deeper and more complex as the series progresses?

I haven't seen much, so anything is welcome.

EDIT: I just realized that the currently airing Eden of the East is similar to what I want. Only one I've seen that is similar though.

This might be stretching it a bit, but, how about:

Mujin Wakusei Survive
Infinite Ryvius

These suggestions seem pretty close to what I'm looking for. Of course, I won't be able to tell till later in the series since it takes time for those "layers" to develop.

Probably Uninhabited Planet Survive is the closed to Lost, but it's a kid/sci-fi version of it.

Cum autem te nusquam conspexi,
Eo tempore mortem cognovi

Haruhi Suzumiya seems to qualify for the "no idea where it's going" criteria.
