Nah... just scale and duplicate printouts of the actual download images from the websites to catch the feeling of the characters and their lines. Where the lines are hard, soft, etc.
Then once you master that, you can start doing your own fan art using pictures of regular people and poses, as models. At least thats what I was taught. I can say this from experience, nothing is harder to do that fan/doujin related work... because people are incredibly critical more so than if you do totally original characters, back storys and mangas Fans... are brutal. |
