No dub is surely dissapointing, but it's no big deal. Im not a huge dub watcher, but it would have been a nice bonus, and a great way to expand the Clannad fanbase.

The DVDs are great nonetheless.

A quick question for anyone who owns the DVD's. How are the subs? Is it good enough because I actually want to buy the DVD's.

Noto Mamiko in English would sound cool, but I believe it will never happen.

The translations are good enough, though the first season has some problems with spelling-errors, not to mention there were a couple of times where "Okazaki-san" was subtitled as "Tomoya", which probably bothered me a lot more than it should have. Basically, they're decent, but they could definitely have used some more proofreading. Fortunately, it seems they learned from their mistakes, as I didn't notice any particular problems on the first After Story-set.

I guess I can let it slide on the first season seeing as that was only the set-up to a grander plot that follows in After-Story. I'll be buying my sets then, thanks for the heads up.

I think it kinda sucks that there will be no Dub, but I'm going to buy it anyways since I love anime from Key.

SENTAI FILMWORKS ANNOUNCES Clannad English Dub

HOUSTON, March 15, 2010—Sentai Filmworks is pleased to announce that the hit series Clannad will be receiving an English dub. Originally released in a subtitled only format, Clannad is receiving the dub as part of an agreement in which several affiliated groups have come together to create English language versions for five of Sentai’s most popular titles.

In addition to the 24 episode Clannad, the four other series that have been selected for this limited program are: the science fiction drama Blue Drop (13 episodes,) the psychological thriller Ghost Hound (22 episodes,) Legends of the Dark King ~ A Fist of the North Star Story (13 episodes) and the 26 episode historical fantasy Tears to Tiara. English dub production duties for all five series will be handled by Seraphim Digital under the auspices of a team of veteran ADR directors such as Steven Foster, who will oversee the English dub for Clannad.

In appreciation of those who supported the subtitled only release of these shows, Sentai Filmworks is developing an “Upgrade” program which will allow owners of the subtitled versions to upgrade their DVD’s for the new release containing the English dub. The shows will also be available both through broadcast, streaming and retail outlets over the coming months. Further details will be announced as they are available.

About Sentai Filmworks:

Sentai Filmworks is one of the fastest-growing anime companies in North America, including hit series like Gintama, Eyeshield 21 and hit movies like Appleseed. Sentai Filmworks is distributed by Ingram Entertainment, Baker & Taylor, Section23Films and other good and fine distributors.

Ah, cool; might get a few newcomers in to the show. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. But in any case, they better not have a English trailer like they did for Kanon.

I'd vote Johnny Yong Bosch to voice Tomoya Okazaki. Anyone agree with me? He worked on Texan dubs in the past.

Deep down, if Kanon was going to get dubbed, so should Clannad. Question now is which company? I could see it now, They were once ADV, use their dubs for Clannad.

Nice to see Clannad getting a dub!

But before I start jumping for joy, I want to see what company is doing the dubbing and who the dub cast is going to be...

So, I guess I was completely wrong about Clannad not getting a dub... It was bound to happen anyways, so pigs fly...

I guess I need to save a little bit more money to get them... since I have other series I want to get on DVD. Nevertheless I'm still getting them.

I hope they're including After Story when they mentioned Clannad. It would be disappointing if they didn't.
